MotoGP: 2024 Round 2 Grande Prémio Tissot de Portugal

Yeah but it favored his aggressive style. He did what he has done since the round 1. Today the temps favored him more than others. In a hot and normal weekend his adventure would have finished his tires.
But all riders had the same advantage. It's just that he had will, the nerve and the wherewithal to utilize the prevailing conditions. The sun that shined today, shined on everyone. It wasn't playing favorites.

Gutted for Mav. Sad that people say “Mav doing Mav things”, as that was not on him.

I guy who kicked a 125 bike to pieces and attempt to blow up an engine at yamaha gets not pity from me. Oh and he quit on a team in 125 as well.

MM and Bags...yeah racing incident, but it looked like Pecco had the apex even if only half a bike, Marc could have gone wide to save the both of them, where Pecco had nowhere to go.
Marc was not obligated to go wide. He never left the race line therefore it was his corner. Pecco attempted to cut underneath hoping Marc would run wide but he didn't. Therefore the DU-Italian is 100% at fault. Marc was committed to his line. He was committed to the correct line in that corner. You can't claim Pecco was in front because of a lunge. When Marc passed Pecco was on the outside he was fully committed to his line. Marc could have done nothing to prevent this. Not a race incident.

Why?
Is he going to win the championship by doing so? No
I wish everyone will just let him get in with it and take this year to learn. I’m sure he’ll be in orange next year.
Is he going to make better use of factory spec than roadblock jack? Im sure the latter wont be in orange next year

Too often, when MM does a lunge on somebody, the prevailing wisdom seems to be: he saw the gap, made the move and made it stick. When many times in fact it was an ill advised lunge and it's only the other rider standing the bike up that prevents a collision.

If Marc was not obligated to go wide neither was Pecco obligated to close the throttle on his own racing line.

Marc has made mistakes. Many of them but today was not one of them. There is a big difference between lunging into a corner than lunging midcorner. Marc was at a full lean when Pecco lunged into him. There was zero chance of anything but what resulted today. There is no way Marc could have picked the bike up midcorner fully committed.

Marc thinks it's Pecco's fault. (of course)
But mainly from the perspective that Pecco took an aggressive chance over two points and it ended badly.

I also think Acosta should stay put and not be promoted. He seems very relaxed in his situation and is having loads of fun, it seems, while getting himself acquainted with racing these bikes. I think it premature to place the responsibility and mental load of riding for a factory team on his shoulders too quickly. His time will definitely come.

I agree that Marc is often given loads of slack when assessing incidents. The bias is in his favour, but I find it difficult to blame him for this one. I don't think either is to blame and if one were pushed, it would be Pecco for having attempted the pass in such a tight circumstance.

They both had the line imo...

The red mist just made them both go for it.

Marc was faster. A move was coming at some point and I don't think his move was a bad one. Pecco hoped Marc would run wide but he did not. I do blame pecco completely but I don't think it was something that deserved a punishment. That corner is long and there was a lot of it yet. Had Pecco made it through on Marc he would have ran wide. The way he squared up he would have had to apex again after making it past Marc. Watch the onboard from Marcs bike and you can see they still had to go uphill and around the corner.

Ultimately I agree with the stewards deciding against any penalties. If they hand out penalties for everything riders won't dare to make any even slightly risky moves.
This ain't F1 where we penalize drivers for causing dirty air that someone wrecked in.

For sure Marc would have gotten him, but in this case, MM could have stood up.
