MotoGP: 2024 Round 2 Grande Prémio Tissot de Portugal

Tough for Martin. if you dish it out to MM it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to get it served back to you.

MM looked delighted, he knows he can compete again. He had passed Vinales before his own mistake, but may have had trouble staying with him the whole distance anyway, very solid ride from Vinales, maybe he rides better when he is crook. Still a very good result for MM starting from 8th in a sprint race and, as several posters said pre-season, he might have a chance if Bagnaia and Martin continue to be as prone to errors as they have been in previous seasons, given MM is immune to pressure except from himself. I wonder when Bezzecchi is going to get close enough to MM to show him how to ride a Ducati.

I agree regarding Martin. What was nice about the overtake was it shows Marc is still an absolute demon on the brakes. Martin was not expecting that at all, but Marc used every last bit of front grip to get that bike stopped in time. Impressive stuff.

I think when he made that braking error that took him out entirely till Pecco made his error in T1. But I do agree with you that he might have a chance of Martin and Bagnaia prove to be prone to making errors as has been the case the past several years. Pecco is interesting with the errors, I thought he would have cleaned that up by now, but he continues to keep making them. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of errors from him this season. I'm sure Bezzecchi will eventually get near MM in a race. Well, one would assume anyhow, but he really seems at odds with the GP23. And as MM gets more and more comfortable on it, that's going to become a tall order.

One thing I will say again is that I'd love to know what the Ducati engineers did to get the GP24 to be even faster in a straight line than the GP23. The acceleration is incredible.

My prediction for tomorrow

1. Prosecco
2. Vinales
3. M Marquez

First win for MM in COTA

He might actually have a fighting chance for the title through consistency. Maybe he can pull of a Hayden/Mir

Lets see how that ages

"...and already there is a queue lining up behind Jack Miller..." Every. Fuqqin'. Race.
Pecco brain farts.
Rough weekend so far for Binder.
Mav seems to like having the ......
Marc is only gaining more confidence. Another great start tomorrow will make things interesting.
The Beast's start was terrible. If he gets a good start tomorrow.....well.....he'll get a good start.
Martin looks for better results tomorrow on the medium.
Gonna be a very long year for Honda.

Hello enthusiasts of this great motorsport. I have read comments here sometimes last few years and decided to register now, as Marquez is returning to sharp end. I'm Marc Marquez fan since 2011 and before that, I was Casey Stoner fan. I'm active on r/motogp reddit with this username.

Will be interesting for next few races to see if MM will begin to regain his talent for quali. If MM is on a front row start, I don't see Baggy so easily running away, and I rate MM better in terms of tire preservation and late race tactics.

Did M Marquez's off during qualifying result in a lower qualifying spot?

Bagnaia can chuckle about his mistake, but the implications are serious, imo. He and Martin will probably be engaged in another tight championship race, and Martin seems to have the measure of Pecco in the sprints. When Pecco is about to take several points off of Martin and he makes a mistake, it just puts him and the team under more pressure.

Leave it to Mav to win a sprint and cause a debate as to whether this counts as wins for 3 manufacturers. Officially it’s not a win, but Superpole race wins in SBK werent wins….until they were. Maybe someday it will count or maybe he will actually win a GP and remove all doubt.

Good race. New result.

Agreed. I said this in preseason. Marquez is only 10 points behind pecco currently, showing how important consistency is. The latter is not going to be able to make mistakes like this and his past 2 seasons and win the title.

Seeing lots of articles and social media posts about Maverick being the first rider to achieve a win with three different manufacturers. Am I taking crazy pills or did everyone forget about Lawson & Mamola? or is this like in English football where changing the competition's name means all records prior rebranding are erased from the collective consciousness?

You are crazy. Thats why you are here. Mavrick has won on 2.5 manufacturers. Sprint race doesn't count in my book or officially.

He's currently last in FP2. 2nd race in and it looks like his confidence is destroyed. I recall after Valencia he was upbeat and everyone was placing him to beat Mir this season....
Well, he definitely seem to beat all the honda guys in coming last. He doesn't impress me in Ducati (i mean out of the stable of Ducati riders, he is the only one without a win). So I am not holding too much hope!!

Yep great start and great pass by MM. As said Jorge should expect that. Marc doesn't complain as he races hard also.
Impressed with his confidence in the front end given he has been off twice this weekend. Enjoyed watching 😎
