MotoGP: 2024 Round 2 Grande Prémio Tissot de Portugal

great race, didnt expect that from Maverick but a good win none the less. Marc is really starting to look comfortable on the GP23, and I like the aggressive pass for 2nd. Though I dont think anyone was going to catch Bagnania had he not made that mistake.

Pecco is probably disappointed but he should be glad he saved that one, it could've ended very badly for him. Nice showing by Maverick, let's wait for tomorrow to see if he doesn't become Mr. Hyde after a Jekyll performance. For a while I thought Martín had the victory in his hand but perhaps he ran out of tires or had pressure issues trying to fight back from his poor start. Very good ride by Mr. One Trick Pony, hopefully he can repeat the same trick tomorrow - quick adaptation and top Ducati. Expected more from the KTMs. It was a weird shakeup at the start so I'm sure tomorrow we'll see a very different race.

Well the sprint race was cracking.

Pecco with a massive error under braking going into turn 1 cost him that race. Maverick rode well shockingly, thought he was going to give up P1 to Martin, but he held on well. Marc was outstanding starting from P8. That overtake on Martin was spectacular. I have no doubt underneath his helmet, Martin was seething over that one. He wanted to run his mouth before the season, he had his first chance to stamp his authority down and couldn't do it. Jack Miller excels at going backwards as usual.

The main event should be quite good. I think Pecco is the favorite for the race, but maybe Enea will be in the fight for the podium.
Tough for Martin. if you dish it out to MM it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to get it served back to you.

MM looked delighted, he knows he can compete again. He had passed Vinales before his own mistake, but may have had trouble staying with him the whole distance anyway, very solid ride from Vinales, maybe he rides better when he is crook. Still a very good result for MM starting from 8th in a sprint race and, as several posters said pre-season, he might have a chance if Bagnaia and Martin continue to be as prone to errors as they have been in previous seasons, given MM is immune to pressure except from himself. I wonder when Bezzecchi is going to get close enough to MM to show him how to ride a Ducati.

Agree with Pecco being the favourite for tomorrow.
Mav rode excellently especially so when you take into account that he is sick. I’m not sure he can maintain it over the full distance while being sick, but he is the kind of enigma that could do it while being sick and then be back to mid pack once recovered.

If Beast gets off the line tomorrow he will have a shot too. He has good pace this weekend. Mav gets another start tomorrow he will make it hard for Pecco and Martin. Same with Jack. He will be up there until he becomes a typical roadblock. Marc is going to be scary tomorrow. He has the best race pace of all of them. I don't think Martin will podium tomorrow.

Shootout to Marini for another last place finish, 24 seconds behind the leader and 8 seconds behind Nakagami who preceded him in the race. If it wasn't because he has a sure lifeline back to VR46, it would rank as one of the worst sporting decisions in the history of the sport.

Well his buddy Bezzechi went backwards at the start and I was snickering the whole time I saw that happen.

Dude is a ....... clown.

I've been rewatching replays of Pecco's error...I really don't know how he saved that. The rear was trying hard to swing around on him, could have been a nasty crash.

So that place goes to zarco then

Good race, glad for Mav and Aprilia. I like him but Martin had better step up the riding to back up the talking. Looks like a little improvement from Fabs on the Yamaha? Miller…. Don’t know what it is, lacking sustained concentration over more than a few laps? Binder was like Binder. Again. Looks like the KTM bike has the goods to win. The riders?
