Considering that Honda didn't much to this test should we read anything into A Esparagro finishing in front of Mir & Marini in the time sheets on his first outing on the Honda?

No. Aleix rode it like a new employee keen to make a good impression whereas Mir and Marini know what it is. Let’s see what transpires in the pre season tests I would say and see how he goes then.

Yes in Honda’s case they could not let other teams get vital information in regard to how not to build a race bike for the current formula.

I could be totally wrong but I'm thinking Ducati never showed up to the first post-season test with nothing new to try. Honda???

The only time I think this was true was for the GP11. It was more or less the same as the GP10 at the Valencia test. Subsequently they moved heaven and earth to have an almost entirely new bike (at least chassis wise) by Mugello for Rossi.

But yes, Honda seem pathetic.

I wonder if it's simpler than all that. Maybe Honda think that they need to understand their current bike a bit more before moving on. If they are going to A/B compare parts, then they need to know that what they're comparing to is optimally configured.
