Gaz, I said VRs departure from Yamaha was similar, not the same. Both left in a fit of ego where both manufacturers were displeased. Im not arguing magnitude. The point I made which neither of you dispute is that Dorna had to step in to repair the relationship, if not outright coerce a return. Dispute that.
I won't dispute it at all as you may well recall my comments when the words 'Valentino will be on a competitive machine next season' (or whatever they were as that is from memory) were uttered by Caramel Izspecial.
Remember that horrendous race at Doni in 2009 which Dovi won? Lorenzo went down then at Goddards. I remember posting back then that the lack of an intermediate tyre option was an outrage. Talps is right and I hope that this potentially lethal omission is reviewed and redressed with the reintroduction of Michelin.
Arrib, I may well be wrong (wouldn't be the first time ..... ask the wife) but I am sure that the lack of intermediate tyre was initially bought about by DORNA (we are talking a few years ago) rather than being a direct Bridgestone decision.
Not sure where I recall it and maybe it was a conspiracy theory but we are talking a few years ago when talk of flag to flag first germinated.
Either way be it B'stone or DORNA (and yes at times I do come across as a b'stone apologist) it is a stupid decision as a rider prepared to take the risk and start or swap to intermediates should be rewarded where circumstances allow.
