My view is that this forum and many other sports forums are dying, this is old media for young folk, and I am happy to have anyone prepared to argue their case on here, which didn’t extend to Nicnac obviously.

I am on a view forums for my various interests. All are in decline.
I am guessing FB and other forms of social media are taking over :(

As Mdub has already pointed out. "That actually makes sense since his idol consumes his fans soul and makes them mad. The valeban still obsessed with their precious."

You on the other hand don't even try to sound intelligent. Your petty and specious failure to make any kind of valid point and pretending even have a point of view is strictly based on a sad need to carry on an old grudge that you can't let go of. Your senseless bile overwhelms your already limited capacity for repartee. You are so transparent. You would defend Hitler if you thought it might gall me. But you your posts are so devoid of common sense that they all add up to one big epic fail. Being simplistically contrary, doesn't amount to much in a debate. Monkeys can learn to do that.

You are a contradiction every time you post. I don't sound intelligent, I fail to make any kind of valid point yet you quote my opinion. Your attempts to blame me for an old grudge when this all stems from you calling an active member a troll and me calling you on it. Get over yourself. This place is a lot better when you are not here. Stick to something you are good at because civil conversations, debates, and the definition of words are not it.

I also feel kinship with MV who comes across to me as a genuine Rossi fan who sees himself as defending Valentino against unfair detraction, having been one of the few defending Stoner on here in 2008 and later in his Ducati years when majority opinion was strongly against me including some whom I am sure some saw me as unreasonable or even irrational. I also miss former posters on here who were fans of both Rossi and the sport such as Babelfish, J4rno and Yamacka, and appreciate some who remain and are considering leaving now.

I agreed btw with David Emmett back in the day that Lex was probably the smartest person posting on MotoGP forums, and greatly enjoy his posts with his fantastic prose style.
Back in the bad old days when there was flaming all around, and certain folks went out of their way to push me out, I was never much affected by it. But what did make me consider leaving the forum, was the vicious and senseless attacks on Kropo, Lex, Barry and J4rno. Always considered them 4 of the smartest guys on the forum. Barry may have had what was considered a weird theory about “backing it in”, but it hardly merited the endless clowning and insults that came his way. And the thing is, his takes on racing were as a rule, just as insightful as anyone’s. Moreover, he was really good natured, and never lost his sense of humor. We kept in touch for a while. I was still running my music store in NYC and he would send me photos of really cool modernistic violins that he custom designed. Really revolutionary stuff. The guy is seriously smart. Ironically, the members who most went out of their way to make fun of his takes on racing, had never set foot on a race track, whereas Barry, actually had years of real life experience as a speedway racer, which for those not familiar with it, is like the rugby of motorcycle racing.

I don't recall anyone really bashing Lex. I thought he was universally respected. Barry is one of my favorite people ever. Him and I had a lighthearted piss take but we talked behind the scenes. His son and I had a mutual friend. Barry and I talked bmx and mtb often. I miss him. I agree he was misunderstood and was a very smart person. I wish he would come back I thoroughly enjoyed his posts.

I subscribe to very few forums actually and on even fewer do I remain longer term and continue to post, however occasionally, such as this one. These are all of the forums I care about and all seem affected by occasional bouts of name calling and disputes between members. Since this is the internet, I have come to view such disputes as relatively harmless. Real life will go on for all of us. Opinions on the internet are nothing to get worked up about imo.

I suppose. But I find FB inferior, in that they use algorithms that skew which posts do or don’t appear which is like having some stupid AI app editing the thoughts of those who post. And there is the Big Brother censorship too. On top of which, you have the adverts for useless crap that continually pops up between posts.

Yeah I said guessing. Dunno, I cbfed using it. Not a fan either.

Ironically, he did the same to me so lost my respect. I've worked in formula 1 and been succeasfully racing karts all my life at a national and continental level. I've raced everything up to and including division 1 superkarts which are faster around most race circuits than everything but the very top formula cars.

You're right, he was knowledgeable, but he lost all my respect when he chose to take potshots about my racing experiences.

If it makes you feel better, I never got a bashing that wasn't prepaid 🥰

I honestly don't remember any targeted abuse towards me in the old days, and the way I presented information was generally maximum risk and provocation to get people invested and exchanging ideas. Without this board, and the pancontinental back and forth, my knowledge would be negligible. All of the debate about WSBK rules forced me to learn theoretical engine performance calculations, which later benefitted my understanding of the 81mm bore rule.

Me a victim of online hazing? No chance. I've only received good things from this forum.

Well, let's just say memory (mine) is not always what it's cracked up to be. And even if it were, I wouldn't start doing a search for old disagreements. I'm all for letting sleeping dogs lie. In the event, glad you're back.

If there comes a time when I have too much time on my hands, maybe I could create Hall Of Fame thread of all the loser trolls that have passed through here.

If one wanted to get into racing something with 4 wheels, would shifter karts be a better bang for buck than an actual car?

Absolutely. 125cc shifter karts have about 280bhp/tonne but the braking is what is mindblowing. About 175kg (with driver) and you have 5 inch brake discs up front, and a 6 inch disk on the rear axle.
They are animals on sprint/short circuit/kart tracks. But, also fast enough to enjoy road courses. I regularly run at Mid Ohio and Indianapolis motor speedway road course for example and have raced 250 and 125cc shifter karts at places like Silverstone, Donington Park, Le Mans etc.

You also don't HAVE to spend silly money. Sure, if you want to win everything you do, but U race for fun now and get away with engine rebuilds every 20 hrs (or 10hrs for top end). Outside of tyres and fuel I don't have much other major expenses.

Thanks for the reply 22.
I'm not bothered about winning and wouldn't have the funds or the talent to do so anyway. Just looking for something that might be fun and fast.

With that in mind, you cannot go wrong with a shifter. Don't listen to people scaring you. If you keep the revs down a little and run a little rich, then your biggest expense is going to be tyres.
Not sure what options you have in Australia for engines, probably KZ2 category which is almost exclusively Italian motors. In the US we have the option for Stock Honda, using a Honda CR125 engine. Not quite as quick as the KZ2's, but quick enough and more importantly, reliable and cheaper.

Feel free to PM me if you need any more help.

@Mdubstyle Im trying to get back in contact with @Jumkie I met up with him about 15 years ago at Laguna Seca, had a great time there with my girl. (Aussie guy Adam who lived in Shanghai).
