Brilliant race for Dovi he judged the conditions perfectly and once in the lead had pace that Rossi couldn't find.
Rossi wrapped up second in the championship too so will finish the season top Yamaha.
Team and constructors titles still open so there's something to fight for in Valencia.
Edit: I wonder if the Ducati's superior drive was giving its front tyre an easier time. Rossi had to use a lot of his making up bike lengths on the brakes as the Dukes were clearly driving better off the corners.

Was great to see Dovi get a win, he has worked pretty hard this season and had some .... runs of luck. Was an interesting battle with the front runners Iannone, Rossi and Dovi, a well deserved victory.

I can already hear the media heavily promoting Valencia to produce the 10th winner of the season, might see Uccio get up on the top step. They have run out of things to milk.

This needs to be said: Sam Lowes while having speed, cannot stop crashing. He better sort that out for next year as being 26 years old, and not having got that under control is not a good sign by any measure, especially given the speed of the bike he will be on next year. Absolutely .... effort on his part the last bunch of races. Today was the icing on the cake. No pressure, still crashes out. I don't think he should even have the Aprilia ride for 2017. It's going to be costly if he continues this .....

Honestly JPS I'm not convinced any of the guys moving up other than Zarco deserve their ride next year. Rins for one thing has been a massive disappointment. And I know that Rabat didn't deserve his this year.

Nine different winners, what a crazy year. I suspect things will get back to a degree of normalcy in 2017 as everyone will be up to speed on the electronics and tires. Congrats to Dovi on a well earned victory and to Rossi on clinching second. Speaking of, did you hear Harris and the crew start looking for excuses for Rossi when he made the decisive mistake that let Dovi through. In their eyes it couldn't be a mistake, had to be an issue with the bike. They settled on brakes as the culprit as they all chimed in " it's the brakes, you can see the lever touching the throttle, it's the brakes." As it turns out, it was simply an error by Rossi trying to up the pace and Dovi had conserved his tires better. Marquez has lost focus which would be easy to do when you have nothing but wins to race for. Looks like Petruuci has just about wrapped up the factory Ducati and may beat Redding overall for the year as they are seperated by only one point. Honda needs strong finishes from Dani and Marc in two weeks to not blow team championship.

THIS!

I've been saying this since the four signed, and everyone's looking at me like I just landed on this planet.

How does Folger deserve that? And Lowes? They don't have any results worth mentioning. At least Rins is young and somewhat shows talent. But not for a factory ride. Zarco should have get the Suzuki seat and Rins tech3. But the kid wanted factory. Nothing else would do.

He really should've been left without a ride in the GP. Good on him for holding out he got a great ride but .... me he doesn't deserve it. Suzuki should've kept Aleix.

The current field in moto2 is the reason is a part of the reason why Marquez will go on a run of titles. There's no one who can currently challenge him from moto2 and I don't believe Vinaels could mount a serious challenge to Marquez either.

Stop hating on riders guys and gals, I'm the 'only one' allowed to do that...

I actually am on the fence about Zarco. Yes he won the race and the title today, but he did nearly everything he could to let everyone else back in...at least till they decided, "Nope, .... it. We don't want the title." Given the major inconsistencies in peformance from the Tech 3 M1 throughout 2016, I really see the learning curve being too much for Zarco. I do hope he, out of all of them does well at Tech 3. Though perhaps the Michelin guys will try and prop up a Frenchman...

Rabat is complete .... and is a ....... embarrassment of a GP rider. Sorry Kitty and the others. It's almost like you could actually believe his Marc VDS doesn't actually have a Honda V4 in it because no one could be that slow.

Aprilia took the wrong Lowes if you ask me. They should have grabbed Alex instead. He looked pretty good out there when healthy.

Rins is a headcase, and when he sees what Iannone does (before crashing) on the GSX-RR, my guess is he will wilt under the pressure. That signing is looking more and more inexplicable given how poorly he acquitted himself down the stretch. Anything is possible I suppose, but I really don't see him working out. Lowes you could see working out if he stops crashing. Zarco with a good chassis and feel from the tires, you can see him doing well. Rins? Good chassis and good engine? You can't see him doing well.

Whats the story with Aoyama, Honda may as well have just selected a random person in the crowd.

Only thing I could see if he was really trying is that perhaps he couldn't find the limit with the Michelin rain tires. This probably was his first time ever trying these tires in those conditions.

Other thought, perhaps Honda was either data collecting, or data collecting while testing 2017 RC213V components. So it was never intended to be a real race...just glorified testing in an environment you can't replicate.

From post race interview, it's clear Rossi has no intention of ever leaving GP until Michelin work out his next ........ title.

This is as delusional as VR's stolen title theory, congrats, you are on the same level as a 9 time world champion:spin:

WTF? I thought it was always open season on Rossi, here. It's the only reason I post. wink and a nod.... or nod and a wink. I never get that right.

I like Zarco because he is emotional, a real fast guy in multiple conditions, honest about his short comings, and not Spanish, Italian or British. He won the title with some style in this race. He may be the only one left in Moto2 that could actually do something in MotoGP. I agree about Rabat and company. They do not impress me, either.

Next time you're in the UK comps, I seriously suggest avoiding the phrase 'guys and gals'.

Completely agree with Pov, next season it'll be normal service resumed as the big factories eke out the advantage again - (much like the EPL this year compa). We'll probably never see ten different riders win races in our lifetimes - well mine anyway so savour the season. I think that this time, Dorna instituted a seres of measures and it's worked brilliantly. The Michelin chaos at times meant that some of this entertainment was luck as opposed to design but overall I think that they've done a creditable job in their first year back, particularly in terms of lap times given the emasculated electronics.

Had a feeling Baz would go well today as a former victor at Sepang. Both GP14.2 jet-skis were true to form, but credit to the riders.

I was there when Dovi won his last race - outfield at Starkey's. The conditions were far more challenging than today, so it's astonishing that it's been over seven years. Delighted for the bloke.

3rd in his race but this kid won at life today.
