True. The temp is also warm even though it's wet so that is probably another reason why he was able to find confidence.

That will true until Mm and Call put a hard pass on him going into turns 1 and 2....or Iannone is near him at any point

May be useless to some and interesting to others but here is a small video of the comparison of lines through t15

Would love to know the difference between all the riders and how many metres they do on the different lines they take over one lap.
Probably wouldnt be a lot but riders who take a wider line would obviously do more.

Not surprising though, the old track surface was worn out and no grip, since it was resurfaced all the riders have praised the high grip which has carried through to wet conditions. Jorge has always been good with predictable grip, will be good in the race tomorrow in wet or dry.

I think Lorenzo answered the reason why he was so strong today during the post qualifying press conference. The resurfaced Sepang circuit offers up some amazing grip levels which has helped give him confidence which is something he has struggled with this season with the new Michelin tyres especially during many of the wet rounds.

I'm really glad for the guy, its been frustrating to watch this season. I noticed one of the female journalists asked him a loaded question implying that 'he isn't any good in the wet" which understandably he wasn't happy about given he has been strong in the wet during previous seasons. It would be great to see him fighting for the win tomorrow.

I hope he does well with Ducati next year, the fact he has struggled to adapt to the tyres this year at times makes me think it will be difficult for him. If adapting his style to the new tyres this year is difficult for him on a bike he is very familiar with and he also helped develop to some degree, I don't think this challenge will become any easier for him on a foreign bike.

This was on BT - Hodgy rolled a water bottle across the track to demonstrate the camber. Look at how tight Mav is able to turn in the Zook. Been really noticeable this weekend in particular.

Have often thought that would be an interesting stat as well

Just what distance each rider actually covers during a race as the race has a set distance based on track length which is measured in a specific way, so would love to see the total distances involved per rider etc.

Stuff and nonsense. Did you watch the last race in 2013, or his entire 250 career, or for that matter the first lap of many of his dominant wins from the lead when he is in the process of getting to the lead? He is not afraid of a battle. It beggars belief for me that people feel able to question Jorge's courage in any way, given him riding Assen 2013 with a newly plated clavicle, coming back from career threatening concussions in 2008, riding with 2 ankles fractured in practice in 2008, or for that matter riding after the massive high side following which he required a head CT scan in a recent race this year.

Where he is perhaps liable to criticism is that he may have developed his riding style in recent years to be too specialized/dependent on particular tyre characteristics and grip conditions, although as I have constantly argued I can't see why he (and everyone else) can't have a tyre which suits him.

I'm at work today and it's on 3pm over here so I've had to delay my lunch break and buy the live MotoGP pass because following updates on twitter would probably drive me insane haha

I noticed Mav does take a tighter line through 15, It would be interesting to see the speed difference between the guys taking the tighter line and the guys going wider lines around it. There must be an optimal combination of how tight the line is vs the speed it lets you carry to get around 15 the fastest.

Currently watching WUP at work... it's a very productive day haha Petrucci was lucky not to face plant it when getting on to the second bike - quite messy

I've never actually understood so thought I'd ask here - when and why would a race be declared as flag to flag?

Agree. Lorenzo may have lost his confidencein the wet, but he is no coward who shys away from a fight. There are numerous examples of the amount of fight he has. 2013 Silverstone comes to mind.

Vinales leads a dry warm up. Could it be his second win this year?. He has been fast all weekend. Not sure what Rossi was up to, but he didnt put in a hot lap.

The race would have been declared a DRY race at race start and at some stage during the race it has started to rain but it is not heavy enough to cause a red flag situation.

A red flag would be used if streams of water ran across the surface or pools of water appeared on the track whereas with light rain there are no pools of water and thus a flag to flag is declared but even then, riders do not have to enter pits to change bikes but the option is now available.

Essentially, what started as a DRY race is now declared WET

Thanks :) For some reason I thought if they declared it flag to flag, they had to change bikes and it wasnt an option not too
