Rossi has succeeded in getting everyone to be talking about a race and races in 2015, including reviving the thread, in 2024.
Sure, Dorna +/- Liberty Media are doubtless grateful. If he has shares he is no doubt helping himself, but otherwise I can’t see how he is helping either his own legacy or his current protégés, particularly Bagnaia. As has been said here and is being said on even the Motorsport.com forum no one who was following the sport in 2015 is going to change their mind, it is ancient history for newer fans, and there is 8 years of evidence that he won’t abash MM, but rather is more likely to increase his motivation.

But what he has failed to do is have people talk about his accolades in 2024. His obsession with one incident from 2015 is what will be remembered most from his legacy.

To the newer generations, Rossi is starting to being known as the guy who can't stop crying about 2015 (which newer gens see as ancient history) instead of the 9 times champion and GOAT candidate he was. And it's all of his own doing. He's the one doing a disservice to his own career, replacing all his successes just to be known as the grandpa who can't stop yelling at clouds.
