2024 MotoGP Round 9: Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland - Sachsenring

I suppose he was concerned about the momentum going Bagnaia’s way with 3 wins in a row, but if his tyres were shot and he was on the ragged edge 20 points would have been a lot better than none at this stage of the season, and Bagnaia now has the momentum of 4 successive Sunday race wins.

Maybe, but hindsight is always 20/20. It could have been Bagnaia that crashed out, and then Martin would have boosted his chances considerably.

Well happy summer everybody, see ya after the break.

For sure I’m disappointed with Martin crashing out. He has no one to blame but himself. I continue to believe Martin will continue to learn. Interesting to see the crowd observations here from some that every time he or Pecco crashes, it’s a choke but whenever MM crashes there’s an excuse. He has a .... bike or not the newest one, etc.

Whatever, I’ll move on for the next few weeks and hope for a good end to the season.

Cheers all!

My impression is that when MM93 crashes out, that people criticise him for pushing too hard and going too close to the limit. And, I tend to think they have a point.

Marini got his point, Augusto has been hit with a 16 second penalty.

Dani Pedrosa is still ahead of him in the 2024 championship standings.

It seems Martin doesn't seem to know how much to push early to save some tires unlike Pecco and Marc who are very good in this.
And taking emotion out of it, you have to wonder if this is the very reason Ducati chose Marquez over Martin for the factory. After all, as has been repeated on here, they have a lot of data on both that we don't.

Jorge was trying to prove a point. He wasn't gonna lose to Frantisek again. Instead he lost it all.
I'd fancy a shorter winter break, and a few breaks from March to the end of the season. It even might be better for the riders, and for development, to have a few lulls in the season.
I'm fine with the season going from mid-March to mid-November. We're heading into the second four-week break of the season which is very long.
There should always be a proper off-season where everyone involved can reset and which gives us fans some time to build excitement and anticipation for the new season. There should be one four-week summer break and no other break of more than two weeks imo.
Cheers guys, much appreciated!

Wasn't looking for specific hotels, more areas, towns or villages that might not be on the TripAdvisor radar.

Will have the Ankerberg on the list!

I'd say our region as a whole is worth visiting, difficult to single out specific towns or villages. I never really considered leaving and most of the people I went to school with didn't leave either. Quite a difference to the generation before us.

Interesting comments from Martin.

At least as of the time of writing he has no idea why he fell.

He still rubs me the wrong way.

Just watched it. That crash from Martin was strange. Lost the front early as he tipped in. Yes at speed yes still braking. Right hand side of the tyre but still relatively upright. Yes Marc was strong at the end but this is his strongest track. Tough meet for him with crashes, saves and contact. That near crash with Morbidelli was bowel motion inducing for any normal person. 😮😆 particularly after the big crash earlier in the weekend!
Pecco is looking very planted and sorted. Hard to see Martin win the tiitle, as the #1 wont be going to another manufacturer I expect as part of the reason, but Pecco is more settled it appears.
That is the best Morbidelli has looked in ages.
A good race as they go with the aero and ride height sh it.

Yeah not happy with the 4 week break either but the poor bast ards need a rest I reckon.

Not a fan of the auto normal daily language filter either :x

May I just say...
252,000 spectators for the weekend, 19,000 more than the record so far is truly fantastic to see. The current contract runs until 2026 but I have little doubt this GP is here to stay for longer.

I would hate to see Sachsenring removed from the schedule. I cried a little when Laguna Seca was removed and I probably would again if this track was.

Just watched moto2 also.
Yep, significantly better to watch than the open class bikes.
More movement, sliding and overtaking.
Give me that over the aero downforce and ride height deviced, comparatively processional series that Motogp is.

Dani Pedrosa is still ahead of him in the 2024 championship standings.
MM has crashed his way out of a moto 2 title, the 2015 MotoGP title, and possibly the 2020 title, a sensible reason for him to push at the time he crashed out sustaining the humeral fracture was entirely lacking, he was just trying to make a point to FQ.

In the other hand MM has kept his bike upright to a sufficient degree to win 8 titles, as Bagnaia has done twice and looks like doing a 3rd time. Martin hadn’t done this as yet, so claims he is as good as MM and demands for a full factory seat were perhaps premature, although some doubt will I guess always exist about a Pramac Factory Ducati being fully equivalent to a Factory Factory Ducati. He also often blames his equipment for crashing out, which MM largely doesn’t.

I also noted that Alex let Marc through very easily, and seemed extremely happy with the result.
Sure, but they are on the same team independent of brotherhood, and while MM is vaguely in contention for the title him being favoured is appropriate. It is quite likely he would have got past eventually in any case.

I would like to think if the chance ever arises which seems unlikely MM would help AM to a podium or win if he himself was out of contention or had already clinched a title.

Alex Marquez let Marc Marquez through because he is his brother. What you sometimes see is that teammates don't try to make a hard pass. I thought how Alex dropped back was something else.

Marc will have a free tow for 2 1/2 years to come, if he should need one. Pecco, with Bastianini and potentially Morbidelli as well, moving from Ducati, could end up without a taxi.

I seriously don't see Alex being in any position to be of much assistance to Marc very often. He isn't as fast and from next year will be on older equipment.
If that is some inference that Marc will have a significant advantage over Pecco because of his brother is also riding a Ducati I don't see it being in any way accurate. It hasn't happened that Alex has been capable of towing Marc to the front for the last 4 years and I don't see it happening next year with Alex being on inferior equipment.
This year there is just too much gap between 24 and 23 Duke for it to be effective.
As Marc said, sharing a podium with his brother is not something that is going to happen at all often. First time it has occurred and it will be a rarity if it is repeated,

Nothing wrong with Alex helping Marc, it was the best result for the team

When Morbidelli was moving forward I was wondering if he was pushing his tyres too hard and then he started going backwards suggesting tyre wear. Right or wrong it was still a good race for Morbidelli

Marini now has more points than Marc did in 2020 :)
