I was thinking the same, just in time for Oliveria's silly season

I wonder what trackhouse found? having both bike at the pointy end is something they haven't done before
Have either of them been given the 2024 spec bike or is that next round ?. In any case Aprilia have no reason to favour the factory riders over the satellite riders now both factory riders are leaving to join competitors while the Trackhouse riders may both be in contention to stay.

We have wondered for a while whether the Aprilia was a better bike than the factory riders have been demonstrating it to be, other than when the planets align for Vinales.

The riders ....... around on the race line is becoming a joke.
It’s costing guys a chance to fight for podiums and wins.

ETA: Also with the yellow flags cancelling lap times, it’s a 15 minute session. The guys get 4 laps at most.
Grid penalties need to be given. Bradl didn’t care because he couldn’t improve his position at that point.

It is a big time safety issue as well, and grid penalties are the only thing riders will respond to.

I remember Casey Stoner being pilloried for prosecuting his views on this issue. As was not infrequently the case he could perhaps have found a better method to advance his case, but he was correct.

Marc seems slightly desperate now that the 24's are pulling away from last year's bike. He needs to learn to let go, now that he's in the 2nd half of his career.
He has very likely realised he has no chance for the title on a GP23 as you imply, and has gone from trying to win the championship mode to trying to win every race mode. The latter has always been a bad mode for him even in his best years, and one which leads to him crashing.

I genuinely believe a GP25 at Gresini was his preferred option, and brash as he has always been all the fallout from his signing to the factory team may have made even him feel some pressure to justify that signing.

Trackhouse requested 2024 bikes but Aprilia was only able to deliver for one rider so Olivera got a 24 while Fernandaz got a 23 bike. While they are stuck with the engines they got they can change other parts of the bike and I'd heard that they upgraded Fernandaz to a 24 chassis, aero etc while retaining the 23 engine. How accurate the info is, who knows

Then you clearly have never watched a good race if thats all you need to get excited. I almost felt asleep

I've watched plenty of good races, including - I feel - the sprint from yesterday.

Initially I had only watched the highlights of the sprint, but decided it was ridiculous and shelled out for the Dorna MotoGP pass. I've now seen the full unedited race. It does settle down and not a huge amount happens in the second half. But, the early excitement made it, for me, a good race overall.

Just watched it. A couple of great passes by Martin. That pass on Miguel under brakes was awesome.
Another big front end save by Marc at turn 1.

Yes, pleased to see this as I hadn't seen it from the highlights. He's still got it.

At risk riders finding an extra cog in their gearbox is a tale as old as time.

I hope Miller will find a “Nitro boost: push to pass” button on his handlebar today.
Sure, but a 2024 spec Aprilia might have been rather helpful as well. As I said perhaps the factory riders haven’t been doing the bike justice. Were I Martin I would have been very happy with Oliveira finishing second in the sprint race for reasons beyond this season’s title race.

I really wonder whether KTM are on the right path, the Carbon Fibre aspect in particular, still unproven technology as far as race bikes go imo. The bike seems to have become less competitive as the season progresses.

My personal theory is that they do realize that investing in a new tech (Carbon chassis ) will lead to some short term setbacks (Especially the front end feel, as Binder and Miller have been saying), but have determined that the long term benefits and development potential are worth the trade off.

When was the last wet race? If you watch only motogp you do get the feeling it never rains, yet we did not have 3 consecutive days without rain this summer. Changing weather always makes for exciting races, i hope its not another procession later on

Typically frantic Moto3 race.

This is still David Alonso’s world and we’re all living in it, but fantastic race from Furusato. His time is definitely coming; and it’s good to see that the Honda finally isn’t toothless anymore.

Gutted for Luca Lunetta, he made a fantastic comeback after the two LLPs before crashing out. Another rider to watch out for in the future IMO.

Have you seen the MotoE race 2? And in particular, the weather that delayed it? As I was watching in hindsight, I knew the race would start, but I was certainly thinking 'how?'. I take your point about MotoGP itself, and so far it looks like a fully dry race today.

Moto3 race: I agree, great race from Furusato. In the Asia Talent Cup, he won the championship by winning every one of the eight races in the season. He's been adapting to Moto3 over years (despite still only being 18), but now has twice the number of podiums compared to last year. I hope he's moving forward and will be in the championship race next year. It was pointed out that Furusato didn't look happy after the race :) Alonso is even more experienced, and I think that experience showed today. He was just able to deal with every challenge with aplomb. Shame for Veijer, but his time will come.

I think it should be a long lap. Bradl qualified second from last anyway, a grid penalty wouldn't make much of a difference.

I wouldn't think so. Riding for a customer team Ducati could still withhold new parts from him if he were to get too close to one of the red bikes.

Didn't Oliveira have a '24 bike from the start? They must've found something this weekend.

He said he had an extended sit down with Aprilia on the changes he needed to be competitive (Suspension related) and they obliged. Also aided by the fact that some of the resources from Aleix’s box are helping him out this weekend.

Furusato's time is coming. He was fun to watch today.

I didn't think the sprint was a barn burner but it wasn't a snoozer either.

I didn't see the race but I saw the weather looking out my window. No surprise they delayed the race.

Incredibly exciting Moto2 race.
WP suspension seems to be getting their act together, which is great news for the championship.

That battle for 3rd was epic. Good to see Vietti re-discovering his form and kudos to both Ogura and Moreira for their rides as well.

Boscoscuro maintains their iron grip on the top step of the podium. Would be a great 2025 season with more of them on the grid.
