2024 MotoGP Round 9: Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland - Sachsenring

That was a proper weather induced crashfest! Luckily noone with severe injuries.

Marc now has to go through Q1. If he's fit enough, that shouldn't be an issue.

Feel for Miller. One onethousands of a second from a straight Q2. Aprilias all on the money.

Will be interesting to see how the weather changes overnight.

Looking at the list of people in Q1, I can't see anyone that I would expect to cause Marc problems. And, MM93 has been through Q1 and ended up on pole before. So, it depends on his fitness.

I've not seen the proper footage, but from bits on YouTube, it looks as if MM93 was walking OK after the big crash. Though I'm wondering, if Marc is pushing it too far again, whether he will get through the season without serious injuries that would derail any championship challenge.

Tbh, the Ralf-Waldmann-Kurve is usually only an issue on Friday and as the track gets rubbered in there are close to zero crashes on Saturday on Sunday.
With the low temperatures the risk of crashing was obviously high but I don't think it'll be an issue tomorrow. Hopefully Marc's performance won't be impaired.

Where do you recommend to stay, if visiting this track?
I'd second what @ApriliaRS250 said, the Ankerberg is a big campground and a giant week-long party right on the other side of the road from the track.
As far as hotels go, I don't really know. We're not exactly a hub for tourism.
No more than 20 on Sunday.
And no rain as of right now.

As much as i would like to see marquez win again i have a bad feeling that he is only one highside away from ending his stunning career. Today was not that day and he‘ll live to see another race

Marc seems slightly desperate now that the 24's are pulling away from last year's bike. He needs to learn to let go, now that he's in the 2nd half of his career.

Regarding the sessions overall, it was nice to see Aprilia back towards the front. Bad weather is forecast on Saturday so Oliveira could be in good shape. If Mav has a decent qualifying, and the weather stays clear on Sunday, he could do well. The Ducati frontrunners will obviously be somewhere near the front. KTM? Not sure what's going on with them. Acosta is fading. Binder and Miller are doing nothing, though Jack looks a little sharper this weekend. I wonder what's going through Mav's and Enea's minds.

Acosta has faded and returned to the front at previous times in his career. I predicted that he would take longer to adapt to MotoGP than he initially did. I have faith that even if he falls back a bit, he's going to bounce back.

Last year Miller was the only rider to get within the 8 Ducati's last year so perhaps this circuit suits Miller. I've read somewhere that the KTM carbon frame resulted in less front end feel so if that is the case then that would contribute to inconsistency

Not sure how MM will go after hurting his ribs and finger, at a guess it won't impact his qualifying but could play against him race duration, we shall see

IMO only but ..............

Acosta has had tastes of a bad result last round, kind of a 'reality check' of kinds for him and the mega hordes of people riding on his coat tails.

But, Acosta is smarter than many riding those coat tails. He does not subscribe to being the next incarnation of a riding god for whom all ahead will be rosey and simple.

No, he knows that the innate skill he possesses is only part of the puzzle so now he is focused on harnessing the skill while not over-stepping the boundary of technology and physics. So he has found the limits, felt the disappointment of failure and now will be all the better for it.

I have not watched much MGP over the last years, what with still being stuck in the golden old days before aero and over-imposed technology and all, and I rarely subscribe to the 'next big thing' BS we all to often hear or read. But I do get the feeling that the kid is special so have no doubts he will be back and have learnt, so will be better for the last round.

May very well be controversial, but his being on a KTM (yeah I know, Gas Gas an all) is likely helping him in ways that will only become more obvious in a few more years.

Unfortunately this year I'm in between different methods of watching, with previous methods having dried up. And, next year, I plan to have a motogp.com subscription.

Hence, I don't see much except the main races.

But, one thing I've noticed is that MM93 doesn't seem to do so many miracle saves any more. Has he been saving the unsaveable less frequently than in previous years/decade, or have I just not seen them?

It seems that Stefan Bradl was the person to cause Marc problems. Though, not in the way I was thinking.

EDIT: Wow - Trackhouse.

Interesting, didn’t see it if Bags moved before the light.

Martin decisive, good job.

Trackhouse! Good to see one of those bikes on the podium.
