Yep, not a single time stamped comment on any forum or social media between the end of that race and the Thursday press conference at Sepang.

But, after that...supposedly it was "obvious"

Also curious how people ignore that Marquez basically used an identical strategy to win the PI 2018 race.

Is it crazy to think that maybe the seed that grew into the bad blood between MM & VR was planted in Argentina?

Some say it dates from the time Marc brought his mechanics crew to the VR ranch, it's said that Marc humiliated everyone on the track that day. Rossi took issue with Marc's over-competitiveness to say so, specially with bringing his own mechanics. But it's just a rumor I read from time to time. The Argentina stuff probably didn't help either.

The sad thing is with it all is that JL had the beating of VR that season. He didn't need to get MM to do his bidding.
Valeban.. Taliban right? thats funny I like that. ;)

Yes, JL was the faster rider for the second half of the season. So the question then is, why do you believe that MM did so?

Anyone who supports Rossis opinion of that race has yet to answer why, if MM was helping JL, did he overtake him on the last lap and deprive him of 5 precious points?

Peer pressure. I don't think he wanted to l think JL was whispering in his ear.
I'm talking Malaysia here only.
Any other race the winner in him takes over.

Who knows where Marc would have finished in Malaysia. We were robbed of that by a certain rider. Do you admit that what Rossi did in Sepang was over the line?

So did his "winner take over" or was he helping JL in Australia? Can't be both.

It is generally agreed that MM gave VR a hard time in Malaysia, but as others have said, MM broke no rule. VR however, did, and was penalized.

I don't know if you've ever raced motorcycles or if your experience is road only. But if I were your competitor and called you a .... and your mother a liar, you'd race me as hard as you could, no?

P.s. normally I wouldn't indulge this. But it's off season and the days are slow..

Rossi has cemented himself as the greatest GP rider in history. No other rider lives rent-free in the heads of people who follow the sport. It's 2024, Rossi is long retired... yet there isn't anything or anyone more entertaining to talk about than Mr. Valentino Rossi. Three years after Marquez retires, he wont dominate the threads of racing forums. He'll be mentioned from time to time, but without Rossi as an antagonist nobody really cares to debate about MM for years after he's gone.

To be fair, this thread only resurfaced because of a new member who is a strong Rossi fan. Prior to this, he had not been mentioned in a long time.

This is the first time an offseason has ever been this active, do you know why? Because Marc switched teams. That never happened when Vale switched. I wouldn't say he lives rent free, he is more like a squatter who keeps coming back after we out him for being fake.

It especially didn't happen when he moved to Ducati and finished 15th in his first test. Compared to the rider he replaced, topping the timesheets on his new bike.

Every time Rossi switched teams it was the #1 message board topic and continued to be the dominate discussions throughout the season. He does in fact live rent-free in the minds that follow the sport. There have been numerous GP riders that might as well never bothered to race because they're long forgotten, never to be mentioned again unless there was a particular time that Rossi got the best of them. Rossi will always be the center of attention, fans/haters just can't let him go. Motorcycle racing cannot be discussed without Rossi being at the center of the discussion.

A darn shame too as they were giving us a show. I'd pay good money to see that kind of racing in 2024........................oh wait..................I already do pay good money. My bad.

Except, only one person brought him up...you'll notice this a MM thread.

Everyone else is sick to the teeth of seeing his goofy ....

Its still true a testing and off season has never been this busy when Rossi switched teams. I don't deny that Rossi left a mark that will be talked about for a long time. I hate to break godwins law but Hitler still has new documentaries coming out each year but that doesn't make him the goat. Rossi's legacy good or bad is here to stay for a while no doubt. No argument here. But as double deuces pointed out, it is never the people who don't think highly of Rossi who bring him up but the people who worship him blindly. Hence him not living rent free but being a squatter who won't go away. I would gladly not hear his name anymore but if someone wants to say something negative about MM, JLo or anyone else for that matter by invoking the name of Rossi I will reply. So will others.

I am a fan of the sport not the politics, though I did appreciate how MM ignored the off track pressure and fan based machinations, to do his talking on the track by winning. Without special tyres and largely without a machinery advantage.

As far as watching the sport goes I have never seen anyone able to do what Marquez has done with the front end of the motorcycle.

Beat me to it. With Rossi, so much of what passes for his "appeal" is all the histrionics and hyperbole surrounding him, and Rossi fans are nothing if not fainting-couch drama queens.

Hopefully he’ll be back some day. He’s still active in a couple of places. I see him every now and again.
