I get the impression that some of you had a serious argument back in the day and as a result some left the forum

Correct. The forum is good right now. But it had an energy back in the day. There was a lot of different personalities and clashes were inevitable. I have gained some great friends from back then. Some I still talk to daily. We were a lot more open with personal things back then and that caused some issues. There were numerous meet ups at the races. A large group of old members meet at Austin each year still. By gones are by gones though. I wish we could get the band back together but its just not going to happen. One of them (willski) came over to my house this year. He is from england and travels for work. He was close so he stopped by and we reminisced about the good ole days.

Nothing wrong with debating as long was we are debating the content of the post and respecting that others have a different viewpoint. Sometimes we get a bit to passionate, most of us have done that sometime in the past

Morning all,
When I watched the race (Sepang) and as it was unfolding, I was thinking , Oh FFS what are you doing MM? Up to that point I had seen no real evidence that I can remember of VR accusations, it was his mind games in overdrive. I think it affected JL more (who has well documented demons) Anyway when it came to the collision I was thinking oh FFS what have you done! That is not good!
I'm don't think VR is a god, I'm not the religious type, I just think he was a fantastic motorcycle racer, not without his problems. I'm not the Supreme Leader of the Valeban but I am in the gang.
I don't do FB and the other social medias, too many algorithms for me, but I don't mind a forum to discuss stuff with like minded folk. On the local (UK) forums I'm on I was not getting any decent race info which is how I found myself here. Next thing is to find a streaming service I can watch the races on (for cheap) maybe I need a vpn?

What you are perhaps conveniently ignoring is the pre-Sepang 2015 press conference, when Rossi outright accused MM of having ridden the previous race at PI (which MM won FFS) in a fashion to delberstely help Lorenzo and hinder Rossi, to which MM rather took umbrage since he considered Valentino had called him a cheat on ludicrous grounds. .

Most on here considered Valentino to be a great and probably the greatest even if they were fans of other riders such as Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner or Jorge Lorenzo, and most discord on here was in regard to people defending the achievements of those riders against disparagement from what was considered a rogue element among Rossi fandom.

What 2015 demonstrated, when Rossi called his fans off Iannone, who had been the one copping it between the 2 races rather than MM, and aimed them at MM, which occurred before the actual Sepang race, was that Rossi had always been in control of, and had pretty much orchestrated, those fans deriding his major competitors such as Gibernau, Biaggi and Stoner. No one could make anyone vaguely a member of the human race hate Nicky Hayden, but his title was much detracted from.

It is fair criticism that MM can/could be reckless particularly early in his career, but the way he stood up to and indeed thrived on the so called Rossi “mind games” when others had quailed won him widespread admiration, it becoming obvious that Rossi had weaponised an unhinged element of his fanbase against his rivals for pretty much his whole career not so much.

So when did Jorge Lorenzo prove himself susceptible to mind games/lacking in toughness btw ?. Not when he rode with a shattered clavicle in 2013, nor in 2015 when he won a third title despite the Yamaha factory team’s fairly obvious preference for his team-mate.

There are some places you can watch races on live stream for free, but make sure you have adblocker and a good anti-virus, they likely have more viruses than Shovels club.

Personally, I pay $150 a yr for the Motogp video pass. Can't recommend it enough.

There were some unfortunate conflicts of the big-personality variety. There were also a good number of folks who got along with everybody and just quietly drifted away. Curve was one of those. He had a kid or two and went off to Dad-life. Same for California Kid.

CK is busy with his catering company. I still chat with him sometimes. He caters tv show sets. He did the catering for American horror story when it was in the Boston area.

Spoke to him right before that. Gave the impression he was moving out there lock stock and barrel.

i still think it is a bargain if you are seriously into the sport, access to watching the races live away from home, and all sorts of stuff on there, access to old races, practice and qualifying, timing etc. it is not hard to spend that much on one night out at a restaurant.

Exactly, and the no spoiler function is great. I can get up Sunday morning at watch the race at my leisure.

Sepang 2015 remains the darkest day of the premier class.

Rossi should have been black flagged and given a race ban for Valencia that year because of what he did.

His fanbase was and remains reprehensible in my opinion. For them cheering every rider they don't like crashing out of races is hooliganism at it's absolute worst.

Marc chose to race Vale the same way he raced Casey at Laguna Seca 2008 and he fried out from realizing he had a combination of lack of speed to keep up with the leading group, and that his title was slipping away lap by lap.

.... Rossi, he was a cancer on GP for over 2 decades.

There's a reason Honda will not acknowledge that scumbag for anything he did when he rode there.

To me the controversy of Sepang 2015 has always been a bit strange. Two guys were trading paint, and one may or may not have used his leg to move another out of the way. It’s not like one rider grabbed another’s brake lever on the front straight.

The interesting aspect is that when Rossi put his hand over his forehead and fainted, no kne was there to catch him and carry him to the chaise lounge. That was a tectonic shift in the power struggle within GP. The kick heard round the world caused an instant coup. Rossi was forcibly retired at that moment. The other seasons were just part of his severance package.

Honda from my experience, have been pretty honorable in the past. They allowed Marc to leave a year early, respected that Stoner wanted to retire etc. With that in mind, it is telling to me that they, to this day, refuse to give Rossi a 2001 Honda NSR.

They knew the real Rossi a long time ago.

I am familiar with the official website l subscribed for a few years way back when. I too liked the no spoiler function. But I'm not paying 200 euros. I'll find a way, I'm working on it.
Booing. I hate that, l took the kids to Donington Park in 2008, Casey won Rossi then Danny. He got booed, not cool, it's not wrestling is it.
On some podium one year in Asia somewhere the fans were cheering Rossi, JL was there booing trying to get the fans to boo him. Not cool.
Mental health is not something that you can turn off with a switch. It affects folks in many different ways. I'm not questioning the strength shown with the collar bone.
The season will soon be starting, most races are geared for a European audience certainly the times anyway. I can see most of you are overseas somewhere we let you have. That's called a light hearted piss take in this country. May the best man win! Try to be happy 😁😊

Its funny that you mention this without paying any attention to the fact that Rossi fans cheer when MM and JLo crash and boo when they podium.

I'm a brit living in the US, I'm well aware of British satire and the term "taking the piss" I'm not sure what you are referring to as light hearted, but the Valebans abuse of Stoner, Lorenzo and Marquez was and is anything but light hearted.

I'd like to see the podium where JL was trying to get fans to boo. I don't recall that except for when he thumbed down Rossis podium in Sepang, which was understandable and even he apologized for his behavior later. Something I've never seen Rossi do.

Respectfully. I hope you stay, because I enjoy having more members to chat racing here with, but you cannot enter by saying JL and MM are .......s and I love Rossi then not expecting to be challenged on that opinion by saying "anyway let's move on".
