Is KTM on the Brink of Withdrawal from MotoGP?

If I read this right, KTM will withdraw from MotoGP at the end of next yr:

IF this is true, where does Acosta land for 2027 (or even next yr if he gets out of his contract early)?

RideApart, KTM's debt administrator recently stated that the current plan is to not extend the contract with MotoGP in 2026:

“…in this regard, it is planned not to extend the contract with MotoGP, which runs until 2026. An early withdrawal from the racing series is not currently planned.

“The reason for this is the reduction in costs for KTM AG and its subsidiaries.”

The statement 'Passion never goes bankrupt' is extremely tasteless in my opinion. Passion doesnt pay the bills for the workers laid off, and doesn't magically make up the 70% revenue creditors are owed.

All KTM rider will have to jump ship

Acosta can end up at VR46, he goes to the ranch to race, so they've spoken I'm sure
He can end up in Marini's seat at HRC
He can replace Rins at Yamaha
He can replace Zarco in LCR
He can replace Fernandez at Trackhouse or if Ai goes to HRC, will he replace AI?

Binder might end up in LCR, or WSBK. Would Pramac be an option? Would Trackhouse and Aprilia want him as their version of Zarco?

Viñales....who knows? He might retire?

Enea....is WSBK an option? Replace Alvaro at Aruba Ducati? Or move into Iannone's seat, if he becomes a factory rider?

Looks like the withdrawal article is from 1/3/2025? Not sure if KTM will actually withdraw or whether this is a negotiating tactic. I guess we'll find out.

I'm skeptical because the manufacturers probably wish they could threaten withdrawal quite often, but they don't have permission to negotiate that aggressively. KTM is able to threaten withdrawal legitimately. MotoGP has new owners who believe in expansionism so maybe they will pay up to keep KTM engaged.

The public has very little information, but KTM's situation could lead to unexpected changes ahead. I'm sure they are just angling for more money, but who knows how the negotiations will shakeout. Maybe the 1000s get a reprieve to keep costs down? Maybe Liberty get angry and move hyper-aggressively against the factories, like Dorna did in the late-800cc era?

The only real crisis at the moment is a safety crisis and entertainment quality crisis. The GPC thinks both will be addressed in 2027 so it's unlikely that MotoGP could be rocked by unexpected changes, but you never know.
