I got some sleep, ran a couple of errands, and have had more time to think about this.

Genuine question here, if what VR claims about MM purposely trying to hold him up to cost him the title is 100% accurate --this should not be taken as an effort to absolve VR because it's not-- how does such a thing even get handled?

There's nothing explicitly prohibiting it in the rules. Bikes in battle can turn out slower lap times due to not being on the ideal racing line, so using slower lap times as a smoking gun doesn't hold weight.

What do you do in MM's case if the allegations are true? Trying to ruin someone's title over what started in Argentina, carried to Assen, and went on through the various pressers is unethical.

Someone made what I thought was an interesting point to me, if this tangle was between MM and JL, most people would have been going ballistic over MM showing his dirty colors once again.

In the overall scheme of MotoGP, VR and MM in spite of the outward appearances were a combination of oil and water. The seeds for the incident today in Sepang were planted at the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca 2013. Since we're not privy to what truly goes on, on the circuit, I don't know if there have been other incidents that we simply are not aware of that went on from Laguna '13 all the way to Sepang '15 and if this was the inevitable conclusion when you put two guys together who have no interest in giving an inch on anything if they believe they are right. When MM ran wide and let JL past, my first thought was, "Was that intentional?" not because of VR's presser, but because I've sensed MM has been looking for revenge ever since Assen. I think I might have said something back then about expecting MM to try and get payback for the final corner incident there. I don't think MM is a particularly bright guy with respects to considering anything beyond the present moment, whereas VR thinks beyond the present moment...MM I think wanted to stick it to VR ever since earlier this season. God only knows what words have been said between them in private. All we see is the external manifestation of a accumulation of things, most of which we never know of or see.

Look at the incident on YouTube. Marquez clearly opens the throttle and runs into Rossi.

Look at the incident on YouTube. Marquez clearly opens the throttle and runs into Rossi.

Are you that blind to see that he had to tip in because Rossi had forced him so wide that he had run out of track?

Except Valentino Rossi has been in the premier class for 15 years now, and in being a PROFESSIONAL should know how to deal with it. He doesn't have to like it, but to react is conduct unbecoming a professional.

This is the same guy who nearly torpedoed Stoner at Laguna 08 as 22 mentioned a few pages back, and then used the excuse of, "it's racing" when he saw Casey was pissed off. Basically it's another case of, the rules apply to everyone but Valentino.

It's good to see a lot of folks finally come out of their bubble after this incident. That .... Rossi pulled on Stoner at Laguna was every bit as douchey - but but too many people were brain-numbed by the Rossi legend and charisma. That Rossi's ambition outweighed his talent, has finally become undeniable. People will say this was the biggest screw-up of Rossi's career - but really - it was spitting the dummy and going to Ducati. If he'd swallowed his pride then, he might already have that 10th WC. I reckon not only will MM not forgive him - but those fans who were reasonably objective - will also never forgive him - for blowing any chance at a 10th WC and for doing so with such a cheap obvious move. It's no wonder he didn't show up at the presser. All the folks who've been pissing and moaning about race direction looking the other way re: indiscretions by the Golden Boy - must be a little in shock to see RD make this decision at such a crucial moment.

Absolutely! He turned the stereotypical "Japanese rider" stereotype on it's .... According to many, his off course exploits were every bit as legendary as on on course racing. I never forgave or cheered for Speez again after he bested Haga that year. Nitro Nori FTW!

To be fair, Nori and The Pieman were great friends and hung out and did barbecues together and Ben played with Nori's kids. I think on some level he hated to take the championship away from the old man.

I personally would like to give Rossi the benefit of the doubt to say that he didn't kick Marquez. We haven't seen the helicopter footage which should be pretty cut and dry. He hasn't done it in 15 years of racing so....

Ok, now looking at it from the helo angle I can see that Rossi definitely blocked Marc from turning in.

It took you an awful lot of research to come to that conclusion but at least you got there.

Just read that Lin Jarvis has said the appeal was rejected and the penalty stands Rossi will start from the back at Velencia

I'm wondering if VR will appeal, then at the 11th hour, we'll see the back of the grid thing negated. I have this feeling that the back of the grid thing is being done to quell outrage in the short-term. But we've got 2 weeks till Valencia, and I can see this changing by then.

The very suggestion will give a lot of people a serious case of blue-balls.
And were they to reverse it and Ross takes the win, the booing at the podium will be heard around the world.

As far as my 'enjoyment' you have made a poor and grossly incorrect assumption. Today's race was my absolute favorite of the seasons. Because it finally in spectacular infamous fashion exposed Valentino Rossi to the facts and opinions I've been pointing out for years. I feel absolutely vindicated. I love it. I cannot overstate my joy of seeing him burn in disgrace. He deserves it. With the added benefit of highlighting the delusion of his insane fantatics supporting his actions today.

You me & a few of the smarter members here. I've known this since the Biaggi days. The fuel to the fire was when Honda created a special team for him back in the 500 days. Special team, so he believes he's God back in ancient Rome & Dorna is, his castle.

The funny thing in all this is that the "GOAT" wasn't fast enough to race alone like Dani and Lorenzo (in fact, he's been constantly slower than Lorenzo on like equipment). Instead, he needed to earn every corner and was unable to do so. His patience for needing to race hard lasted only a few laps. Between this public failure and the episode at Ducati, I think a credible argument can be made for stripping him of this GOAT title. He is indeed facing the most talented riders of his career. It started with Stoner and is ending with Marc and Lorenzo. Some here forget that Stoner routinely beat Rossi by 5 or 6 seconds.

The true GOAT wouldn't need to resort to this kind of behavior both on and off (pre race presser) the track.

All we need now if for Stoner to come out of retirement and beat the pants off Marquez a few times and Rossi would REALLY be a diminished figure in the history books. But people for the most part have short memories and Yamaha will be parading around Rossi at special events for years after his retirement.

Too late for that as I think the damage is done - only the hard core bopper brigade will accept any apologies now.

Any sane rational person could only come to one conclusion about Rossi's intent and actions. Apologies should be reserved for accidents - this was a deliberate move that endangered a competitor.

I reckon Yamaha will be mighty pissed off with this whole sorry saga - these are not the type of scenarios the corporate world like to be associated with. Especially after giving him this second chance.

Hopefully they will go to great lengths to get rid of him like they did Spies. Maybe a broken chain & a broken rear shock link or subframe "can't remember which of those two it was".

Like JPS said....Dorna is in the entertainment business...

It just happens to revolve around a sport that hasnt been a true sport since long before Rossi joined it....

You can point out the short coming of the sport all you want.....wont make a damn bit of difference to Dorna.....so long as you keep spending your hard earned money on them...

And if you feel that i was personally attacking you for your comments then you'd be mistaken and a little to thinned skinned....I was just pointed out the irony of your comments....

If you dont like what Dorna does then dont watch, buy or attend their sport....

Murder Marc, as you yourself has called him, was making some hard passes, and even hit Rossi with his helmet on the knee for driving him wide before Rossi kicked out.... Was Murder Marc justified in hitting Rossi?
No but since MM's action dont fit your world view you choose to instead call the whole thing unfair and a farce.....
Solution for you is to stop watching Motogp....you will be a much happier person clearly.....

Next year they're changing it to "Extreme MotoGP".
