Lorenzo got baited into staying out there, and then was pushing harder than he should have to make up time.

Wow.

I'll be so bold as to say that Lorenzo and Rossi were playing a game of chicken and Lorenzo (despite his making the smart move) did push too hard on the cold slick (as you have implied) to add to his already helpful advantage. Too eager to get that extra advantage. Got to say I felt bad that he blew it. What - I wonder was Rossi trying to prove by staying out that extra lap with his tires turning to shreds? Had he come in same time as Lorenzo - he'd have been on the podium.

I hope its nothing....but even a minor injury will eat at JLos mentally...

Maybe - Or it'll make him even more determined. He doesn't seem the kind to be put off by a bit of bad luck. J-Lo really believes in himself.

At any rate - you can be sure that the commentators will be drama-queening it for the next two races, wondering how long J-Lo can keep up the pace before the pain in his wrist starts to slow him down in order to create fake drama when they have nothing more pertinent to comment on.

I think it's fair to say that if Lorenzo had the advantage of pace and an earlier lap in for changing to slicks - that one cannot say that luck was the only reason that Rossi kept his points advantage. After all riding in the wet is a skill set that all riders must develop. Rossi was able to utilize his superiority in the rain over Lorenzo's (relative) lack in that department. Rossi's skills at riding in the rain weren't gifted to him by his fairy godmother. Like Smith and Redding weren't "gifted" their podium spots. They just had better instincts as to when to come in for slicks. They rode a smarter race than some. Strategy and instinct are as valuable to a rider as pure skills.

So how are my British brothahs feeling right now?

Good thanks, always nice to get one over Johnny Foreigner.

Brits must be shitting their pants (what they do when they need to be even happier.)

I thought it was the Americans who did that

What did Redding just say in that interview? Can someone translate? Bradley speaks English, what is that pigeon Redding speaks? Is he Welsh or something? I don't have my regional English dialects down just yet.

He was saying how lucky he was, far more understandable that what passes as the English language over the pond.

Not really. We all pretty much have central heating and indoor thunderboxes here.

Re: language - we've had massive discussions on this topic before. Regional dialects can be trying. There are Southerners here whose English is completely hard to understand for us in the North. Same is true in the UK. I've seen Brit films where the dialect and accents and local patois were so thick that even the British releases required subtitles.

Wow have things really improved ;) I must have been watching to many John Wayne films.

Yeah Language is a subjective thing, its the scots I can't understand. :(

Not sure why Rossi stayed out too long, but it still worked in his favour after Lorenzo dropped it. If Rossi stays on the podium and can win at least one more race, then the championship is his.

liked the pic of Smith and Redding, Smiths 2 fingers at the world LOL

Rossi could have won that race IMO...not sure why he stayed out so long on the wets.

Exactly. He competely misjudged the changing conditions. Or, he liked too much the fact that he was faster than his rivals on the wet, and went into wishful thinking mode.

Strange that Lorenzo followed him, rather than following the very explicit indications from his garage! Anyway eventually he did the right thing one lap before Rossi and would have arrived in front of him without the crash. Which was his mistake anyway.

The Ducatis also were completely wrong in their strategy. Petrucci again was the best Ducati rider...

In all this, Marquez was just perfect. He let the Yamahas lead in the tricky conditions and then promptly followed the indications from his team. He looke like the most experienced of the three today, keeping perfecty cool, probably helped by the fact that he has nothing to lose.

Smith was brave and Redding made the best of his circumstances, but their position on the podium speaks volumes about the huge mistakes made by 4 factory riders...

Game Over.

Jumkie: Lorenzo is more prone to a DNF than Rossi. Right
Jumkie: Rossi will hang around 3/4 of race to see how it develops: Right
Jumkie: Between the two, gamesmanship advantage Rossi: Right
Jumkie: This is Rossi's championship to lose: Right

I hate being right.

(And a text message from Super Manatee: Is Kesh still on his "hiatus" reflecting?)

Actually today it looked a lot more like Lorenzo's championship to lose. At the crucial moment of the race, first he follows Rossi in two inane las on the drying track on destroyed rain tires, allowing Marquez to disappear; then when he had already surely beaten Rossi by changing bike one lap earlier than him, he pushes too much on still cold slicks and down he goes.

That is Exactly Right!

Americans can understand Queen's English, Cockney, Scouse, and the like because we see so many Brit films here. It's the English of the rustics and the hard-core pikies that are sometimes hard to follow. Whereas the Welsh always seem to speak very melifluent English. .... BTW The Scots have a "language"?:p

What we witnessed today is a massive payoff on Dorna puting the Golden Goose into a 1:3 odds of winning a title. Tweak a tire here and there and let it play out. Les we lose sight of how that factory M1 got between VRs legs.

USS Snitch no doubt.

Petrucci must have been screaming in his helmet for rain. Btw when was the last time we had a flag to flag where the riders switched twice?

Think it was 2008 at Mugelo
