Froze my arse off watching a MRRDA round on the weekend. Helped some young guys out. Ate vile hamburger to stop stomach eating itself. Resolved to drag my RS125 out to ride against kids almost a 1/3rd my age. Helped load stranger's bike and gear. Drove home. Had some beer and talked racing .... about with my mates for hours.
This sport sucks arse.
And yet if I were to judge everyone by their comments on here, I'd believe they wanted the sport to die.

1. If MotoGP had a tire war, both Rossi and Marquez would be on the same tires. Result would be the same.

Sorry but this is rubbish Kropo. I do enjoy this sport, and Rossis pace at Indy from lap 14 on was the same as the leaders, hence he caught Bradl, Cal and Alvaro like they were standing still. Clearly Rossis quali and early race woes are directly related to the Bridgestones, as they were last year too. Once the tyres go off......well we just witnessed it.

Riders and manufacturers deserve a tyre war, bespoke rubber and far greater rubber options would change much in Motogp....and personally I beleive Honda and Marc would not be in their current position at all.

What I meant was that they would both be on bespoke tires made specifically for them and their bikes, with the same level of support. And the result would be identical.

If they had kept the tyre war Stoner might consequently still be riding for Honda (or perhaps even for Ducati), and things might be more interesting, for me at least.

I agree in general though, if or when MM is the 2nd (or 3rd I guess if the first ever championship is included) rookie world champion, nothing can gainsay it, particularly given the quality of the opposition on the other 3 bikes with a chance as you and others have said.

I do not believe I have come across a group of people more determined to not enjoy a sport.

What we have is a bunch of people on here who LOVE to listen to themselves talk. Some wouldnt know the truth if it smacked them in the balls, while  others will keep up a narrative, even after conceding   their narrative is flawed, and some have all of the above qualities. As far as the race weekend, had a great ride up on Friday. We mapped out some of the best backroad twisties that Tennessee and Kenticky have to offer and turned a 6 hour highway drone into a 10 hour day of burning up a set of tires. Motorcycles on the Meridian keeps getting bigger and better, and once again, the city of Indianapolis shows how to put on an event. Ducati's presence at this GP was drastically scaled back. The huge open air Ducati Island was no more, replaced with a small enclosed vendor tent. They did have A/C, so it stayed busy. I went fully expecting to be able to buy Nicky apparel cheap, but left empty handed. Dude said IF it goes on sale, it will be next year, and maybe not even then if Ducati keeps him in the family. Yea, whatever dude, see ya next year.Great track food, but beware the turkey legs. I forgot about the sleep agent in turkey, and was nodding off during qualifying. I was doing that head bob thing, then snap out of it for a few minutes, then head bob etc. People must have thought i was wasted.

Marquez was in control from the second they opened the gates this weekend. He not only broke the track record [ Jumkie  no boycott] , he obliterated  it.  As his confidence grows, if someone doesnt step up and stop the bleeding soon, he will take over the sport.

Pedrosa, solid ride, but has to be thinking it was never meant to be

Lorenzo, not sure at what point of health he is, but he now knows, its going to take 100%  of everything he has to win the title, and that still may not be enough.

Rossi, no longer one of the aliens. He is racing with the satellite boys now,.

Great weekend, glad to hear they are back next year

Speaking of rubbish. There is no semblance of truth in that statement. he lost on average    7/10ths a lap from lap 14 to lap 27, a total of 9 seconds.

I mean you guys have to accept that Marquez is just THE best rider in the world at this point. this happens in sports all throughout history where some kid "embarrasses" all the pros( which seems like bs to me - how can you be embarrassed to lose to the best rider in the world). and I don't think Marquez is toying with Lorenzo and pedrosa - 1.5 second lead is hardly domination, right? have fun talking about rubber and fuel tanks - Marquez could best Lorenzo on the Yamaha. he simply is the best. maybe the dorkier you look in motogp is what makes you the best? I'm 15 and I'm pretty sure I can beat up all the top riders.

We spend our time contemplating what MotoGP would be like with more fuel, a tire war, and more competitiveness between the manufacturers. We really have to put in long hours to find problems with GP

isn't it funny how rossi blamed the ducati for being .... on new tyres and he kinda repeats the pattern this year?

There's plenty wrong with MotoGP, much of which you and I agree on. However, it is still breathtakingly, mind-bogglingly, eye-wateringly beautiful to watch. Dorna couldn't promote a ........ in a whorehouse, the MSMA are concerned only with keeping out their competitors, IRTA is a bunch of fat old men intent on freeloading, and the FIM are sitting on their tax-free bank accounts in Geneva. The paddock is filled with attention whores, semi-psychotic and hyperactive lunatics lacking in affect, weary old men with egos the size of a small galaxy, sundry hangers on and a few genuinely talented and kind souls. But watching the best riders in the world - and make no mistake, these really are the best riders in the world - do what they do on these motorcycles is simply stunning. Some of you people should sit back and enjoy it from time to time.

Krop, I enjoy the sport, I know the shortcomings of the series, but it is what it is.

I would love to go back to the days of the 990's or even the 500 smokers with a tire war and unlimited fuel, but it's not going to happen.

I'll take what I got for now and hope 2014 has a few more competitive bikes to make the racing more interesting.

Marc Marquez...damn, will Pedrosa ever catch a break?  I know we still have a ways to go but it's not looking too good for him to ever win a premier championship.

Pov, glad you made it up and back with no issues big guy, got any pics?

Nicky Hayden....has gone into .... it mode and his aggressive pass on Dovi let Ducati know that he's not interested in riding around thier piece of .... Pig-Nail.

kropo, do you think we'd come on here (and most of us on your site too) daily if we didn't get a hardon watching these guys?

we just have to vent our anger towards at least one dorna official from time to time and we know you can take it, but you're still our favorite journalist and we only read news from you baby

"From time to time"?

well what do you expect out of a motogp forum.  its easier  (and much much more entertaining ) to ..... and moan than to just keep saying "well that was nice -again".

maybe its the lack of a serious rivalry,i don't know....

Must be why he's paid so little and went proddy racing instead of working a factory Yamaha....

Yeah, he lost lustre with Ducati, but while you and others may have lost interest in his abilities, Vale didn't.

Hmmmm, at 1/4 throttle, with a 36 tooth rear, a swingarm pivot set to -2mm and a lean of 42deg, the bike is coming around a bit....what do you start with, whammy? Bit less low comp on the front or bit less rebound on the rear?

whammy? ??

I would hire JB for 80 seconds - get the fix  and fire his sorry, stupid butt on the spot. :)

@ Kropo.

I have noticed the levels of bitching and whining does actually disappear whence at the track.

I get the impression some peeps just vent their frustration because they had to watch from the sofa/whatever and not actually on hallowed ground.

That is probs why you are so upbeat a lot of the time too, ie attending so many races.

You luckier than me MF ;)

Being nice to the fans is part of the job description. Lots of actors, musicians, basketball and baseball players are nice to the fans - but are total ignorant shitheads in their private lives, having no idea what is going on in the world around them. There will always be exceptions.

Good call, reminds me of an interview with  bass player Billy Sheehan. He said in it how some folk complained about spending time with fans and signing autographs. His attitude was, "If someone has followed my music, and taken the time to ask for my autograph, I'M honoured, and will give them the time." I've never been a fan of his playing, but that made me think he is a cool guy. I also liked that after he got an endorsement deal with Yamaha,  he sent his signature basses back after a tour, saying they weren't his, as he hadn't payed for them!

For Stoner fans this post says "Stoner is a poof, Rossi is God and I am a 10 year old girl who loves yellow."

Peace :)

Oh aye, the race.

Marky Mark, incredible

Pedrosa, Not good enough, your team mate owns you

Lorenzo, Struggled with tyres

Rossi, Not fast, but used racecraft

Cal, Enjoy the top 5 before you become a tractor driver again

Bautista, didn't try and kill anyone, well done

Brad, right place right time

Hayboy, err......

Dovi, see Hayboy

Indeed we need a dog fight at the front with about 5-6 bikes. That would stop my fault finding tour.
