<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Rising Sun @ Mar 26 2007, 06:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>c. the fuel line? Ben called this one right. Can Nicky spell contradiction? However, ALL riders do this, to a greater or lesser extent--and usually Hayden isn't guilty of such double talk. To be honest, I think Max's manual of excuses has been passed on to another Italian...

Yes they ALL do, however there are fans that says Hayden is such a saint, that never make excuses and so on.
That's a good start to brand him like the nex Max.
In my eyes he does just as often as any others, except max, it might look pretty but it's all make-up hiding the message in pretty words, and he's good at it. It just slipped for him this time.

One note regarding excuses and complaints, there are times when they are justified and should be pointed out.
When Hayden after estoril says it's wrong of Repsol Honda to not have a strategy, I find that fair. When Rossi says after Quatar that Yamaha need more power, find that fair.
When Melandri complains about upgrades thats propably fair. And so on.
Let's not forget that there are valid explanations out there as well as bad excuses.

As for bashing Hayden, there is only one thing to say: "Numbers don't lie"
He's the champion and I and many other Rossi fans are actually disapointed. Just like many other Rossi fans I was exited when I saw Hayden in fourth. Falling back afterwards was equally disapointing. As it looks now, and I hope it doesn't end like that, it might very well look like Roberts and Criville.
And then you got those more conspiratoric that think some hate Hayden because he is from US of A. They don't make your life on the forum easier, just like we got ours "hayden is ...., rossi is god".

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 27 2007, 02:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>The Haydonettes had great fun with the whole "Rossi folded under pressure" stuff last year
And you didn't have fun at the same time with the whole "2-race champion-didn't win-it-in-a-good-way" stuff as well?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 27 2007, 02:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>so you can bet were gonna have some fun watching Hayboy fold under the pressure of having the No1 plate.
I don't know, different strokes, I guess. I don't really see the attraction in gloating to nth degree. Especially since there's an army of Rossi fanboys on this forum. Sounds like braying donkeys after a while...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 27 2007, 02:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Anyone who reads my, Rog, Baldy or Jumkies posts can surely see that theres an element of having a laugh at each others expense
An element, sure. Sometimes a big part of it, sometimes not. And often with an edge, on both sides. roger-m, in particular, seems obssessed with slagging off Hayden whenever he can. Take this very thread, his first post after the race: "what a sad and sorry ride from the cruisin cartetaker. at least he is consistant, consitantly crap." That's the first thing that comes to mind after the race? Not great ride by Rossi; a dominating victory, or something like that?

Maybe it's just to get a rise out of Jumkie and co., but it makes for tedious reading to see it over and over as it becomes multiplied by other posters piling in too. And I know he's got much more interesting things to say (even in the midst of the chest-beating and name-calling with povol in the EVO clutch thread he made an interesting point about what effect moving the crank might do).

I don't want to spend my time on the forum in these kinds of threads about Hayden all the time. I'm no big fan of his, though I thought he was a worthy champion last year. But sometimes the constant slagging reaches a critical mass so I have to say something. [Besides, Tom's not here this week, and Jumkie watches the races on a 7 year delay before he posts.]

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 27 2007, 02:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>and I think calling Me Rog and Baldy the holy trinity is a compliment.
The other choice was to call you the First Triumvirate (which has obvious Italian connections). I'll let you guys figure out who is Crassus (Rich, unscrupulous, envious of Caesar), who is Pompey (brilliant general in his youth, tiresome blowhard in middle age) and who is Caesar (cunning, daring, with an ego as big as an Empire).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 27 2007, 02:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Plenty of us on here have said that Hayboy doesn't appear to have the fight of the other guys, just as ogunski has pointed out, he doesn't seem to fight back when attacked.
To me, Hayden's a dogged type of rider. He's not spectacular, certainly. It served him in good stead last year when things weren't going his way in the second half of the year, but it won't work for him this year. Like Dovi is trying to do in the 250s he needs to be more aggressive on the bike...

^^rising sun, of course mine petes and locks anti hayden coments are to get a bit of payback from jumkie, tom.oost and the other hayden fans, it just a bit of banter we to and through, bloody hell if rossi falls or ..... up i no were getting in straight away and vise versa,it all adds to the seasons fun, believe it or not we even pm banter to each other sometimes.

Well said Rog. I really don't think the site needs to be policed for any of us taking the piss out of each other.

If you find the banter a bit much in the posts, maybe you need to go onto a GP Forum for the nice polite fans. Like Rog says, were having a laugh, were real racing fans, and we do keep in touch with private messages where we have a laugh at stuff we've said to each other. It's not personal, or nasty, and we, and others have a laugh at it.

I can understand why people who don't use this forum much and come on occassionally to see you lot bitching away thinks it's for real. I personally love it though, until Jumkie steps in!

well i'm just gettin a chance to put my 2cents worth in now. for me the race at the front was a bit processional & i was hoping for a fight at the front, that actually took place in the middle, but it was'nt to be. rossi had everyones # & that was that. was no surprise really he had the fastest pace during qp. a tenth or 2 here & there & that's all he needed. he got to the front & ran that pace & nobody could quite match him. pedrosa did a good job & was nearly as fast but just could'nt match rossi's pace. like's been said before he also needs to work on his braking abit. ole ce finally backs up his practice times with a result. hmmm... he's been good for to podiums a season & this is #1. will he get more than 2? will he actually manage to win 1 after 4 seasons? i'll believe it when i see it. toni elias was lookin good & fast but the bad start killed him. i think he might have been on the box had he a better start. maybe next time. stoner did a good job not to lose his head & get the best i think he was capable of on the day. gettin some on a regular basis must be mellowin him out a bit. a good thing methink's. not a bad ride for checa. considering the bike's suppossed to be built for midgets. see old chuck prone gezzers can still ride hard. nicky hayden ... hell of a way to start ur title defense. when he jumped up to 4th on the start i thought maybe he's finally gettin to grip's with his machine but low & behold the ole hayden fade return's... very dissapointing. melandri what another dissapointment. was up ther for a while duke'n it out then faded away. these 2 need to pull there heads out & get with the program. i'm acctually dissapointed for hopper i think he had the pace for a third but the wrist the damn wrist. the rest were... well they were the rest.

Mate, if you holy triumvirates and the fanboy-types were the only kinds of posters on this forum, I would have left a long time ago.

That's nice. Group hug, everybody.

This is the last thread where I'll complain about Hayden's treatment in the forum, then. If it's all in fun, then who am I to argue with that...
