VR's tried several times to blame something other than his epic .... up, the Bopper minions have always followed strict orders to tow the line.  Brainwash...nah, thats too benign.  More like Jim Jones cult followers, except crazier.

I did notice that they were in the anointed one's colours...

I think it's quite naive to think this is all Rossi's decision. Decisions of this magnitude are rarely made by one man.

Unlike a lot of teams, Rossi's crew is hired by Rossi, who sub-contracts them to Yamaha. There was all the BS a couple of years ago about costs of travel and all that guff.

He's the employer - whether it was his decision solely or not, the buck stopped at his desk.

.......

I blame the overwhelming electronic witchcraft devices.. I'm surprised JB can use a smartphone.

I would say the Rossi haters cult has more devotees and are way more whack than the boppers ever were. The hate has consumed them and drives them. The detailed page long examples of why hate if justified that date back years. Details that include professional and personal that are unknown and unresearched about any other human being let alone rider. It verges on stalking and is very creepy. These cult members meet every sunday in their internet church and site the rossi wrong doings with as much consistency and enthusiasm as a muslin reading the Koran or a Hare Krishna  chanting.

Really, who are the brainwashed amongst us ?

Sorry Rog, you want sick and creepy...you talk of haters...I have never seen anything remotely approaching the en-masse on line vitriol directed at Casey Stoner. Remember the warm up lap at Valencia - 2009 I think? when Casey lost the front. I invite you to revisit the thread and sample the gloating and celebrations over him crashing out. Admittedly it was an innocuous low side but other than ......... like Pinky I have never seen such a reaction to Rossi or indeed any other rider crashing out of a race - now that is creepy. Apart from the questionable grotesque delight shown at a rider hitting the deck, surely the race would have been far richer and greatly enhanced given Casey's participation? Similarly the scorn over the lactose illness which amazingly many still claim was faked, the derision over the views that at least he has the balls to express, the personal jibes over his wife, family and even baby - which as you well know is ......' out of line - and the euphoria but also disdain over his retirement - it too verges on the obsessional. Everything that you perceive has been directed at Valentino has been flung at Stoner multiplied by a factor of 100 while the subject matter has been far worse. Because Vale is regarded as almost a deity - this mindless hagiography means he is practically worshipped by his brainwashed cult like devotees - I find great amusement in deploying the odd iconoclastic post here and there.

As you know I don't much care for his following which are now deserting the sport in droves because they were largely fans of Valentino Rossi the phenomenon as opposed to the sport and as glory hunters have completely lost interest now that he no longer wins on a regular basis. They didn't seem to like any challenge to the man and revelled in the ludicrous margins of victory that they became accustomed to in '02 and '03. Off track - any slight on Rossi, no matter how trivial was heresy.

Me? I don't hate Valentino. How can I when I don't know him personally? As a rider, he is one of - if not the -  greatest I have ever had the privilege to watch - both trackside and throughout his illustrious 17 years in GP. Off track? I loath insincerity...so I don't much care for the guy.

Was talking to JK this morning, and I recalled Donington 2005 - one of the greatest feats of motorcycle riding I have ever been blessed to witness in person. A sheer masterclass of wet weather riding which no amount of preferential treatment could ever contrive to produce. Utter genius - perhaps my most cherished Rossi performance. It's giving me shivers thinking about it, not simply through invoking memories of the foul weather conditions on the day I might add. If somebody asked me about Valentino Rossi - it wouldn't be a page long diatribe over why any 'hate' is justified...hate is a strong word...love is much nicer. Rather, it would perhaps be Donington 2005 - because as a rider - I ....... loved him.

Perhaps similar sentiments would be less forthcoming from the anti-Stoner camp - because technically, he was on altogether another level again. Perhaps that is why there is so much detestation of the man, particularly preached from The Church of Tavullia.

To be fair, if you saw pics of what me an Arrab looked like in our respective youths, you would probably have seen a hint of glam rock influence....

Well listening to Lin Jarvis on eurosport just now he seems to back you and others up. It seems it was Rossi's decision and yamaha say it will cause them problems.

Maybe i should have used the laughing emotion but i couldn't find them. Seems some aussie geezer has hidden them for his own personal use. ;-)

Great response Arrab, but if talking about the absent glory hunting Rossi fans, that's not forget how many Stoner fans went AWOL after 2007 and how many have now jumped on the Marquez ship. Ironically some were avid Hayden fans in 2006 hahaha There like the Man U fans of motorsport.

Julian Ryder never has a bad word to say about Rossi, but even he has said  "a complete lack of dignity"

I think you have that ... about face. Moody maybe but Ryder has not been complementary of rossi for years. He was a right Boner and now MM's biggest fan.

Some of us have become Lorenzo fans Roger. I actually would have preferred Valentino to win this year ahead of MM or Dani, btw.

Good for you mike. I'm also a Lorenzo fan so we will be agreeing a lot in the future.

I think with Burgess gone we will see just what a slouch of a rider Rossi really is.

I wouldn't go that far. I just don't foresee results improving. Perhaps a slight dip, but I bet the gap to Lorenzo remains roughly what it's been all season. (Using Lorenzo as a benchmark because it's too hard to predict how much quicks those around him will get.)

He has not been complimentary, but he does not slag him off, as he has a job to consider, his statement this morning is imo a very big thing to say.

What?  Firing JB should be good for at least an extra .80secs.   Not sure if thats a lap or race distance though.  Next year VR will be trying harder than ever because he will be trying to mask this .... move, he will be mindful of it every weekend as his new crew chef tries to cook up the set-up.  Firing JB was in effect placing the blame on the man for his own shortcomings.  He is on 1:4 win worthy bike, this is already the advantage over everybody else, yet the first half of the year he spent it in 5th, behind of all things a Wsbk rider given a 3rd year opportunity on a competitive bike.  VR made the decision himself to fire JB (sorry Rog, not buying he got any pressure from Yam, as VR still writes his own ticket, .... the very fact he is at factory Yamaha confirms this fact).  It was a .... move to fire JB, but as some argued its VR's prerogative (keep in mind, most riders in the paddock don't have this privilege...again, writes his own ticket).   TI said it before, VR hasn't lost his speed or skill, and his competition as not got extraordinarily better (and I would and have debate it at length with anybody)...what VR has lost his his exclusive performance advantages to everybody else.  And now at least with the four other riders on similar packages, is made to compete on a 4 bike-level playing field.  4th is where he will finish next year baring any injuries from the other 3.

Nah nah, you're trying to have your cake and eat it there. By saying Rossi will try harder you are covering your arse. If rossi improves you will say it had nothing to do with jb not being up to the job, but more to do with rossi now trying harder. If rossi ..... up it will be a big i toadaso moment for you. You aint going to get away with that bs now im back comps.

If Rossi dramatically improves it has to be seen as an inspired move.

If rossi continues with his current form then it should be seen as he laid the blame on jb..

How many full Factory RC211V's did Honda field in 2004 to combat Rossi and the M1?

5 I think?  ;)

Rossi really was that good, he's just getting old man :)
