Marquez just had a great season, raced so smart when the Honda didn't look like it could threaten Yamaha over the course of the season. Great turn around from Honda as well the bike improved massively over the season. I said before the season that Marquez was the most adaptable rider on the grid and he would and could adapt to win as long as Honda gave him the bike to do so.

Now that Marquez learned to control his aggression on the track, he'll be unstoppable IMO. There's a time to win, and a time to just control the race and score maximum points. He got it now. So watch out for him. Very well deserved championship.

And it has been said that he is very happy with the 2017 bike at this stage of its development. Give him just equal machinery and he will dominate the series.

I would have prefered Lorenzo stay on his bike and take second from Rossi and have Marquez wrap up the title at PI. That would have made this a perfect weekend

I'd hate to be #46 and have to face the WORLD CHAMPION with 3 races remaining!!!! Especially with Sepang on the Horizon..........

Was hoping for that too. But I think he will leave as 2nd in the championship. Me think Marc has a score to settle with a certain #46, now that he has the 2016 crown.

Congrats Marc Marquez for his fifth world championship. Sky is the limit for Honda and MM93 now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of concocted drama story from Rossi if Lorenzo beats him to 2nd in the championship.

Doesn't matter much what Rossi or Yamaha do now.

Yamaha have succumbed to petty politics while facing very likely the most formidable opposing rider in their history in GP bike racing who is unlikely to decline any time soon. Yamaha's only hope is to offer him the challenge of winning for a different manufacturer a la Rossi 2004 imo. Perhaps they could involve a Spanish sponsor such as Movistar.

The only real justification I could see for going with Rossi is if his mythical bike development skills are not mythical, otherwise surely you go for the fastest rider. Once you start not making decisions on merit, you are lost in most human endeavours. I think Michelin producing tyres which are variable and imo substandard even at their best has helped the youngest and most adaptable rider as well, even apart from him being better anyway.

A win. At Honda's home. With the big boys watching. To unexpectantly secure the WC. With 3 races to go.
MM will be super Golden Boy tonight.

VR will blame JL for intentionally binning it to hand MM the championship. It's blatantly obvious that he crashed to hand his countryman the his title.

Even after MM wins the title, instead of talking about that... some of you would rather imagine wild scenarios about what Rossi will do for the remaining races. Apparently, MM winning doesn't provide enough entertainment, you need Rossi to keep this forum going.

And now is the time for Honda to put their 2017 bike (well, as close as legally allowed) onto the track for situational testing by Marquez and whoever replaces Dani for the next few rounds (and I say who as surely not Aoyama)

You mean as opposed to Rossi coming up with wild scenarios for the last 3 races last year, and being the perpetrator in a particularly wild such scenario at Sepang?

You mean Rossi's wild scenarios at the end of LAST year overshadow MM winning the championship TODAY? Lol, everything that happens in this sport really does revolve around Rossi. You need him or you'd have nothing to talk about.

The interesting point for Rossi now is how he approaches the remainder of the year as with the championship gone, he could well turn his focus to 2017 but there is also the 'desire' that would likely be shared between him and Lorenzo to beat the other due to the bad blood (I suspect that JL may be likewise focused).

Will be interesting for all factories now as none (or very few) of these guys generally care about any position aside from first in the title (no doubt Redding and Petrucci care), so we may see three races of win or bin attitude across the field (hopefully with no injuries).

Time will tell but these 3 remaining races could add some unexpected twists.
