Rd17 - OR Thailand Grand Prix 2023

Being small didn’t help Pedrosa, Bautista or Loris Caparossi win a moto gp title. Although Pedrosa should have and Bautista has just won WSBK title for 2nd year on the bounce. Loris just gets to drive the beemer round before the racing starts.

Pedrosa and Bautista were held back by their stature because of the Bridgestone control tire. By most accounts, it worked best with an average bike-rider combined minimum weight. The changes Bridgestone made for the 1000cc era worked for Pedrosa, and he won 7 races in 2012 (more than Lorenzo), but as the tire design matured, and as Honda made changes to the RC213V for Marquez, Pedrosa faded into obscurity.

Capirossi was just inconsistent, though he did win races for 3 different manufacturers in the premier class. Perhaps he is best known for having his number retired for no reason.

And ironically, in his last race, he rode with Simoncelli's number.

I always think retiring numbers is a bit silly. Eventually they'll have none to use!

That Honda was a winning bike in Thailand race, yet all he could manage was only 6th place.

I'm curious as to how you came to the conclusion the Honda was a winning bike.
if you put a healthy Alex Rins on the bike , he would have won comfortably, just like how he did in a Austin.

If a champion like Mir couldn't win on it, why would Rins have won on it? Buriram is not COTA.

Wasting your time PRS. He's a troll, just ignore him. His idea of a fact is to just say FACT at the end of a statement and people like him cling to the fact that Alex Rins won at COTA earlier this yr. They conveniently omit that his results before and after that were 10th, 9th, RET, RET then he crashed in Mugello and shattered his leg.

BirdBird
"WeLl If MaRqUeZ hAdN't CrAsHeD iN pOrTuGaL tHeN hE cOuLd HaVe WoN"

Likewise, If Rins hadn't broken his leg, maybe he could have won more races too by that argument.

I know. I was really trying to stay out of this but if I understand correctly, Marc only won 6 titles because he had the dominant bike which he then somehow ruined except for Thailand. I mean, it couldn't possibly be that Marc was the reason the Honda looked like such a winning bike.

2019: 12 wins. Riders, Constructors and Teams Champions
2020: 0 wins, 2nd to last in constructors, 9th (out of 11) in Teams championship.

What was different from 2019 to 2020 I wonder?

The problem with engaging the troll anytime he writes is that he successfully derails every thread and ruins it for the rest. You might find it fun to put down his nonsense but he wins this way. Why are we talking about deranged schizo nonsense in the Thailand race thread? Why aren't we talking about this year's championship?

My mistake. I thought we had to solve his riddle to pass over the bridge.

If the Honda's were ridden by Bagnaia, Martin, Bezzecchi and Binder where would they be in the championship? I'd bet Birdbird would say 1st to 4th

I agree with your thoughts there, however I suppose there is a positive to take out of his posts.
Everybody is able to recognise what a crock of .... his posts are so it is a solid point of agreement amongst the sensible.
He is a unifying poster for the rest of the forum.

I think it is mostly in fun, even for birdbird.

For me it gives me an excuse for some Rossi bashing, hard to find in his retirement.

Pretty much any criticism birdbird has directed at MM applies in spades to Valentino, without the subterfuge and hypocrisy in MM’s case, who doesn’t pretend to be other than who he is.

Birdbirds probably not such a bad lad just a little lonely. If we keep showing him the error of his ways he may turn him away from the dark side? 🥴
There’s no denying he’s raised the profile of the forum, my inbox alerts say it’s on fire every time I look! 🤣

I'm surprised you couldn't figure out the answer.
2019, Honda was the most dominant bike.

2020 it was still a great bike, but Marc Marquez God Like Talent myth was exposed in Jerez crash injuring himself badly, and comically causing more damage to the injury with exercises.
A talented rider would have saved the slide instead of suffering lousy big crash like Marc Marquez.

Do you mean like Valentino Rossi’s myth being exploded after he had won 9 titles, none on anything but the very best equipment on the grid, including being the only rider on a 990 Honda for most of one season, when he got on the 2010 Ducati in the post season test, a bike Casey Stoner won multiple races on, and being lucky to get within 2 seconds of Stoner’s lap times, except that comparison was absolutely direct, and Rossi continued in the same vein for the next 2 years despite being fully healthy.
