MotoGP: 2016 Round 02 - Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina (SPOILERS)

The Hondas are damn fast, but all of them look very unsettled on corner exit. I have to wonder how much of that is still down to a dirty track and a lack of grip.

It's power delivery. They don't deliver power smoothly...MM was spinning the rear out of the final corner.

Overhead near a yellow motorhome:

Ah Carmellow, thanks yous for coming. Qatar race, very funny you know, because all fans booing Yorge and Maarc. Fans don't likey. Bad for TV you know.

Si.

So, maybe you talk to eh, Michelin, you tell not bring soft to Argentina, ok.

Si.

Should be Car-yellow at this point...

But it's not like Rossi was exactly setting the world on fire out there himself. Just looked slow out there Honda circuit or not.

Carmyellow, good one.

I've said this before, Rossi does good on his tires and decent on his 2nd choice. Lorenzo does very good on Rossi's 2nd choice, bad on Rossi’s tires.

Lorenzo has to work extra to compete on Rossi's tires. That was the plight for others for years.

Here is a prediction: Rossi will not have a crash DNF this season (baring getting torpedoed).

Well the thing that has come to mind, and it's still early mind you, is that the unified ECU is actually a huge detriment to Rossi. Riding at a top level at his age is unproven in modern GP, and it looks that the bikes have become more difficult to ride than easier to ride as a whole. Couple that with the new tires, it's not to his benefit right now. Both can change obviously, but given some of the satellite teams were right around the M1 pace, even though it's not a Yamaha circuit has to be disconcerting to Rossi. Yeah he's ahead of his teammate right now, but where a year ago that meant being in P1, P2, or P3 at worst, this year has shaped up to be different. Plus there's two more MM circuits coming up.

I do agree that Rossi is very unlikely to crash this year because he's been riding to take care of the front end so it doesn't wash out. But it's a double-edged sword since if he can't push and has to hope for others to have misfortune, he's going to find himself farther behind.

I suspect, during the off season, Rossi got a chemical engineer phd and is emailing new rubber compound formulas to The Michelin Men after each practice.

According to CE the tires won't last here or Austin. He never had a tire that didn't fall apart before the end of a race sim at either and its the same tire.

I miss you old avatar. Someone hated it but thats a load of ..... This new one though, its growing on me.

Yes, how dare anyone deny the reality of what those pricks MM and Jorge did to steal Valentino's 10th title.

That being the case, wonder how PI will go as it is notoriously difficult on tyres as well , although with them being later in the year the tyres may well have been further developed

He said they tested there and had a tire for that. It worked great. The other questionable one is sachsenring and it rights. There was no testing there. Germans just love people and rights.

Rossi will be prominent at the end of this race which he won last year after not showing overly much in practice, particularly if even the hard tyres wear out; preserving tyres and riding well on worn tyres has been one of his most characteristic skills throughout his career.

If Jorge really is going to move to Ducati he is possibly throwing a title away as I can't see Yamaha giving him their strongest support unless he is their only hope.

What bike or bikes was he using to test I wonder?

Asking as if only a Yamaha then it is fair to say that the other brands may react differently although I suspect that there were others involved - have not been following the tyre tests

The test were for Michelin but I would assume they were done on a yamaha or a texas steer.
