....!!! So I don't get free Dunkin Donuts today?!?
Wawa coffee for $1 is as good as it's going to get I'm afraid.
....!!! So I don't get free Dunkin Donuts today?!?
That is the one that sticks in my mind more than most and was mentioned earlier in this thread and other places (in other places I got smashed for mentioning it because 'Lorenzo still had races to get any points back')
The thing that people seem to be over looking is that Rossi remains 7 points in front entering the last race of the season.
He is not behind in points but in front and JL will not be trying to ride beyond the limits so will be riding with a margin of error whilst trying to manage as best possible. It is this margin of error that makes JL vulnerable to both a mistake (as we know, concentration can be a funny thing) but more so to the attacks of other riders who want to win a race.
All the BS that the penalty applied has cost Rossi the championship is just that BS as he still has one race to ensure that he loses no more than 18 points on JL and given that fact that he is on a factory bike he has a major advantage over most of those he needs to come past at a track he knows intimately
Excellent post JPS. I grew up with this issue, especially Schumacher. The amount of times in drivers briefing fellow young drivers (kids) argued with the CoC over use of kerbs or similar, then ended up in race direction for barging someone off or soing something else, and their defence was always "Well they do it in F1!" or "Michael Schumacher gets away with it"...go to a club or even regional/national short circuit kart event today...it's like a millionaires demo derby.
Did u guys just compare schumi to rossi?
On hiatus till the awards show again. Zis iz unacceptable!
Another thing, for those who say Marquez had no place interfering with a rider who was challenging for the championship (As per Alex Lowes twitter) when they were out of contention, I say:
MOTEGI 2010
So, it was ok then because it was Rossi dishing it out, right?
You, or Dr.No, also mentioned another incident that I immediately thought of at the time - also at Motegi in '03 I think. Makoto Tamada was demoted from the rostrum having made contact with Sete under braking into '90° turn' (- Christ, it's not hard to tell that Honda designed this circuit is it!!). The two bikes made contact causing Gibernau to run on. Tamada was duly disqualified by race direction who issued some statement to the effect off riding in an irresponsible manner and causing danger to other riders. At the same meeting as I recollect, Hopper missed his braking marker (for a change) and took out Bayliss. This resulted in a 1 race suspension. Neither were premeditated, and neither had the intent of interfering with another rider on track.
People on here, some professing to be ex racers themselves, are cherry picking twitter feeds in an attempt to vindicate Rossi's actions and suggest a consensus of opinion that Rossi is right and it's frankly unbelievable. All it does is demonstrate that the cult of Valentino Rossi is as fanatical as it is extreme and in common with such blind worship and idolatry operates outside the realm of rationality. What happened at Sepang simply doesn't accord with the hagiography built around the deity that is VR, which once has yet again proven to be bigger than the sport itself.
As has been pointed out innumerable times, if Stoner or Marquez had pulled the same .... since PI - on and off the circuit -the World Wide Web would have been fried long before a victorious Pedro tore past the chequered flag impervious to the storm brewing behind him.
The key difference is that Rossi was not favouring one rider over another, like Marc was. Rossi was merely defending his own position, as he would have done against any other rider.
I suspect that, for Jorge, one of the Hondas will be beatable at Valencia...When is a penalty not really a penalty?
When you are riding a factory Yamaha and made to start at the back of the grid when in reality only racing three other bikes. Rossi can finish fourth easily and claim his Eighth title unless Lorenzo can beat one of the Hondas. If Lorenzo finishes second and Rossi fourth they will be equal on points.

These "justice seekers" defending Rossi's DELIBERATE attempted murder.
Laverty sums it up well: "Marc broke the unwritten rule, always RESPECT those fighting for a Championship when you're not. Vale got enraged and hung him out to dry"
Hi,
I don't know if you understand how facts work, but facts are a thing that is indisputable.
There is nothing that actually supports your assertion that Marc was favoring one rider over another.
However, if you have a piece of evidence that supports this assertion indisputably, by all means submit it so we can examine the evidence to make sure.

JP

We will have to disagree on that one. Show me another race in 2010 where Rossi defended THAT hard. He had the hump that he felt JL had effectively forced him from Yamaha, and if you think that he would have ridden the same against Pedrosa in that race for example then you are mistaken.
If some bloke basically called me a .... in a Thursday press conference, to the point where my mother had to prove something said bloke was questioning, then you're damned right I'd be pissed off with him. ROSSI made his bed, and ROSSI has to sleep in it.
