I thought we already were. Two peas in a pod.

And I didn't "tell" you all what a genius I was - someone "asked" and I just provided the factual answer.
And I thought I was backing you up by saying you can't possibly be this stupid. You can't, right?

By the way, what happened to the unstoppable Stoner in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012?

I'm just the breath of fresh air this forum needed.

Awesome! My first friend. I'm stoked. All we need to do is make it official on the friends request feature of the forum (which much to my chagrin I honestly forgot existed). I really do need to get on the Facebook machine to get updated with all this social friendship stuff.

Friend (sweet, I can now call u that) in 2006 Stoner made it public his tires were not up to snuff. Apparently he didn't get the memo that the lesser riders were just supposed to accept the established tier system.

Do u really want me to explain a year by year basis? Because I can homie. Thing is, it might be easier if u just went back and speed read all the threads from those years. I'm sure being so smart it will take u 20 mins. I'll wait.

Absolutely you have breathed another layer into what has been a lively forum for several months. Despite a certain member actively trying to destroy it. Ironically yours and those responding to you are exactly the redundant, passionate, hilarious, fanatic, staunch, revisionist, insightful and inciting exchanges this forum was once known for. It's slowly clawing itself back from a hiatus when only 3 happy members remained, claiming it was finally the utopia they wanted, free from tiresome members like Frick, Frack, Mdub, JP, Sparrow, Jumkie etal who come here only for the Gang Band.

Valentino has certainly contributed to the quality of the bikes he has ridden.

I'm not so sure Dr. Mike. Even the marshals were sick of watching Dr. Rossi's godawful cruising around on the Ducati.

I'll assume that at this point, especially given your post count, you're arguing for the sake of arguing. Because you can't possibly be this stupid.

Precisely. He's smarter in real life than he seems on the forum. FACT.
He also has incredible stamina, as evidenced by the way he never tires of telling everybody how much the forum has improved since he returned. FACT.

Point I was making is that how Rossi was seen by most at the end of the 2005 season was that he was seen as the second coming of Agostini in spite of questionable competition.

It's the same question that's now starting to be asked about Tiger Woods. Was his success up till Thanksgiving 2009 a product of inferior competition? Talented as he was, he played against many players who were touted as "the next best thing" only for it to completely collapse. Christ, in the Summer of 1999, Sergio Garcia was being positioned as the guy who would be the Arnold Palmer to Woods' Nicklaus. The light burned at the 1999 PGA Championship, and seemed poised to give us that great battle...but it never amounted to a tin ..... Woods played against a number of players who were mentally weak really...sort of like Biaggi and Sete.

Good points - tho - I generally don't make comparisons between moto sports and something like golf or basketball because ball sports involve an equal playing field - everybody has the same floor, same basket, same ball same availability of footwear. Motosports have so many factors involved and much of what we know about Agostini for instance that we take as "history" (not points standings obviously) is based on second hand knowledge. Undoubtedly Agostini and Mike The Bike were giants in their time - but both also benefited from having top machinery - same as Rossi. IMHO - I don't think it's so far fetched to compare Rossi to Agostini. I expect there's a lot of resistance to people of certain generations to the idea that anyone, could outdistance a "Living Legend" like Agostini. Same as people who started watching MotoGP when Rossi came in the game - couldn't swallow the idea that Stoner could fairly beat Rossi who was such a god to them. They just couldn't wrap their head around it.

I don't really follow golf enough be knowledgeable - but I suspect that Woods really was that great, but the shock of being exposed and hounded by the press and the loss of his stabile family life, not to mention his ability get away with murder being taken away, really broke him psychologically.

Yeah, if you consider smog good quality air.

Hey, some people consider a good rich odouress fart a breath of fresh air

Ok, so it is usually over a few beers or as you leave the lift so teh stench stays for others, but still the principle is the same

It's all relative I guess. As a tiny kid - whenever my father in law was around the house I used to think someone was making popcorn. Bukowski used to consider a good beer fart as wonderful as the best perfume.

It's okay to be jealous of me. Most are. Just don't allow your tone to make it so obvious.

Alas, I am undone; you have seen right through me. If only I had achieved a worse result by about 150 marks in the examinations which determined qualification for university all those years ago I too could have aspired to the lofty intellectual heights of dentistry,

Nah man, not only do you get to lag by 150 on your score, you get to put Dr in front of your name (ffs an Osteopath I know calls himself Doctor....I just do it on the internets), you get to peer into people's gobs all day. In compensation this penance, you are able to be remunerated handsomely, which ultimately allows you to regale internet denizens of your wealth-led early retirement, your <cough> too-good-for-MENSA brain and the 911'n'Vette in your garage. Which obviously makes us all well jealous and admiring of the bloke.

"What's your opinion on that whiner Casey Stoner? "

( that should go a long way in rebuilding your self esteem  ).

Yep, my stupidity in hand-picking my medical field relegated me to the slavery of those 30 hour work weeks and early retirement. Woe is me.:p

I can tell that Stoner fans abound here - it was the whining that gave it away.

(And I don't have a 911 and a Vette in the garage. In fact, I have no garage - it's my game room now. Only the Vette sits in my driveway, as I traded in the 911. My lap times are faster in the Vette anyway.)

And just in case anyone here appreciates symbolism and/or irony, I've reduced a respected doctor to name calling and .... measuring. That, my friends, is an example of what my original entry into this thread was all about…
