QATAR 2012: RACE

My word mate! That's exactly what I thought. Why in gods name didn't he do a race simulation?

Thanks thought I was the only one!

Been waiting for someone to say something but it never came!

So I put my neck on the block

Not a bad race to watch, the thing I noticed the most was the sound of the TC absolutely dominating acceleration. So much for a revised-more rider based championship.........at least the tyres have thrown up a variable

That being said Well Done Jorge!!!! GREAT effort. And Pedders, what a nice surprise. Stoners excuse was a little bit transparent, Arm Pump? Looked like tyre issues to me-lack of track time-no race simulation really caught them out this time, whereas Dani has been working like a trooper and got the absolutely unexpected result.

But Lorenzo looks very good, and will be difficult to match for the rest of the season, this track was Hondas/Stoners best shot at a nice easy win and they've come up short. Well done to Bradl too, quite an impressive debut.

As for Ducati, well they've gone backwards again, Hayden was 30 seconds off and battling the sats, ridiculous, Rossi beyond embarrassing and something fundamental needs to to be done to end this relationship. The bike actually still looks quite ugly too, and those colours are like some horrendous kids toothpaste. compared to the Honda and Yams, its now another joke with no clear direction or any comprehension of whats actually going wrong-if it wasn't for the long straight they would have been struggling with the CRTs too. Its been too long and too silly and Kropo is right a serious backlash is coming for that team, Ducati and Rossi himself, a very, very sad situation.

Critisize Stoner all you want, he'll prove you guys wrong as many times as needed. Now the arm pump is an excuse?

Rossi's performance was so ....... pathetic we can't even find the guts to laugh at him, take care of the growing weed in your garden and stop pointing out the one crooked plant i have in mine.

Karma is a ..... and everyone who uses such result as a reason of mokery will end up eating his words, if he says he has arm pump he has arm pump, or are excuses only valid for shoulders?

Umm Barry's been asleep ....... it was nighty night time here your know.

But!! what!!! ....... we was robbed!!!

Actually I watched the race, and nodded off probably in the cooldown lap.

Ended up being unable to sleep in anticipation so watched all 3 classes, and even got the total motogp race in ..... though I can't remember the CRT's finishing??

Lorenzo's win fair and square.

Pedro!!! bet that has shocked a few, well raced, and has placed himself in the shootout for the year.

Stoner ...... you are so dropped!! I'm jumping ship!! Actually I thought it must have been tyres, but it seems by the comments here he said he had arm pump? Thats eating baby food has done that!

Interesting year coming up for those who like close battles ........ me I think I liked 800's better so far. But I'll give it time. I want to see stand out bike wrestling, not "tentative tractor tempting".

Tires? Tires were fine for race end....so damn obvious.

Stoner is a natural slider, if his tires quit performing you can see him slipping around the tarmac without control, not what heppened today.

The thing that makes me think it was the tires was before the race had even begun, they said this should be a good race, because the tires WILL wear out. Cal was saying that he could wear them out in a couple of laps if he wanted too.

Stoner went flat out from word go, with zero race sim data on that bitumen. I'm no expert, as none of us are, but there are too many things pointing to worn out tires for my liking. I'm sure he had arm pump, I'm not saying he is a liar, but tire wear had to have played a part also in my opinion.

Moto3 sounds like a sunny Sunday in suburbia after a few weeks of rain .......... ie. all the lawn mowers come out
<

Actually I love the sound, I'd like to see 500 and up to 700 singles now.

Haha, I didn't watch the race, but the guy I sponsor over here rides a moto3 bike, and out at qld raceway a couple of weeks ago, there was a bunch if them practicing together, and they sounded so weak compared to the old 125's
<

Pretty quick though!

They sound great. I'd like a fang even at my age. 500 or 700 singles could be a fun "old codger" weekend class I'm thinking.

The Moto3 times are not that far of the 125 times as well so I'd say they will end up a tad faster than 125's were.

Dang, I want an old 650 enfield long stroke in one of those frames now !!!! 4 revs and the race would be over

Massimo Meregalli, Team Director:

"The chatter suddenly appeared on Ben’s bike in warm up and we couldn’t solve it before the race. We’re not sure why it was yet but the engineers will work on it and we will try to ensure we have the problem solved by Jerez. An impressive victory for Jorge, I don’t have the right words to say how impressive. I think he was superior all weekend, now we go to Spain with a lot of optimism; there was no better way for him to start the season. Fantastic to also see both Cal and Andrea doing so well, it says a lot about the YZR-M1’s performance."

Better have been because that race was painful to watch...

Must say i thought it was a pretty good race, not on par with the Moto2 but they very rarely are....

Jorge rode smart and it paid off...he's been playing the long game all through pre-season testing.

Pedrosa rode well, glad he got ahead of Casey!

Casey was really quick at the start but he was on the edge, you could see him tucking the front quite a bit. He's only got himself to blame for not winning, doing 6 flying laps max throughout practise/testing is clearly not the way to go about it. I'd of thought with these new tyres he'd of atleast tried a race simulation to see how they behave...

Rossi - well what can i say, pretty shambolic really and having just read some of his comments on Gpone, I can pretty much guarantee he wont be in red next year. He's now saying that Ducati haven't listened to him and that the bike isn't what he asked for...Thats going to go down well with the moneymen behind the team! oooft

Great win for Jorge.

Pedrosa was a surprise after poor practice sessions.

Stoner probably pleased that chatter did not ruin his race. he has had arm pump before and it has not been an issue that often, so doubt that it will ruin his season. One of Stoners reliable traits is brutal honesty, so I have no reason to doubt this, although the usual boppers will think and say otherwise. Egg on face down the track methinks.....................

Spies is feeling the pressure from Dovi and Cal. You cant keep knocking youself up and expect to race well.

Crutchlow seems on track for a good year and a big chance of a factory yamaha next year.

Hayden gutsy again.

Barbera had a good race. Comments here about being a nobody without drafting seem a bit hollow now.

Rossi................................................?

Basspete......proving himself to be one of the remaining delusional boppers. Show a bit of grace, old son...........! Even Talpa, with his original take on things has shown more restraint.

But the big question is.....................Where,s Rodger? Jumkie, do you know?

Only watched the replay but it was a good race. Cal needed to get past Dovi sooner & he may have been on the podium. Or better still get a good start. Spies must have had big issues to drop down the order like he did. To those asking why Stoner didn't do A long run can you at least try to think logically if you can't put away your bias? He was trying to reduce the chatter in the bike all weekend. Surely his first priority is to get the optimum setup. Stoner will still be thereabouts every race, we all know that. But what the hell is going on with Vale? Has been incredibly slow all weekend.Very smart ride by Jorge. Good comeback from Dani as well. Oh & Nicky didn't burn his tyres like others claimed he would. He was simply faster than his team mate all weekend. Deal with it.

Stoner chewed up his tyres as i thought when he shot off early on. Smart race from Lorenzo, took his time and won easier than expected. Surprise finish by Pedrosa.

Don't think my comments were biased in the slightest. Yeah, short runs make sense when you're trying to iron out small issues, do you not think he should have tried a longer run at some point though? His team mate commented on how much more physical the big bikes are. I just think he could have won the race if he'd perhaps been better prepared... it was right arm apparently - must .... harder!

As for Vale.......meh

They said some interesting stuff on Eurosport about the tires. Spalding said that the rear tire is the new softer construction, but the front tire is the existing hard construction. Julian chimed in that the mismatched tires were creating balance issues for certain riders.

Hard front and soft/medium rear is significant b/c it is the exact opposite of what Rossi like to run, imo. Anyway, the new spec front tire is supposed to be completely phased in by Silverstone. If balance is the primary problem with the Ducati, Rossi should start to improve around the midpoint of the season.
