A the post race interview Elias said he "was free" and that anyone interested should let him know. He actually looked like he was on the verge of crying. Talk about your bittersweet moments. Sounds like Ducati has already cut him loose. How ....... ironic is that? The one other guy who finally learns to ride the 08 bike competitively isn't assured of a ride.
Quote Bikergirl: Elias can cry all he likes. Nothing against the guy. But when you're a pro racer getting support from a team, riding in a seat that so many would gladly give an arm and a leg for, GETTING PAID FOR IT, and owing your fans and sponsors at the very least the best performance you can summon up every race day, I find it shameful that he only gets his finger out when his job is on the line.
I've never been a big Elias fan and I have no desire to pat him on the back and dry his tears. However . . . what you say assumes that he's just not been trying. And that's only speculation. What makes you assume he's been malingering? Seems just as likely (more actually) that it's taken him this long to come to terms with the bike and to overcome his fear of throwing the throttle open, Stoner style. None of the other Ducati riders other than Stoner have been competitive. Are they all malingerers? Doubtful.
