^Yup, I'm quite sure that's exactly what happened. As a Kallio fan I am really disappointed as he was doing so well. Sucks that the incident was never captured on camera too.

One would hope that being first and foremost racing fans made you become Rossi fans. Sometimes the impression is quite the opposite. But there, we have it in writing, just in case. So I may not have much, but I have that.

personally, i started as a rossi fan. i was about 10 years old when my uncle introduced me to bike racing. and what would an 8 year old know? all i know was that a certain valentino rossi was very good and i liked watching him race.

then i started to get hooked. and along with that i started to try and get to know the other riders, the rules, the sport. and so after some years of watching this, and that may not be much compared to some of you, i became a racing fan. because i learned there is SO MUCH MORE than rossi winning a race.

Good to see Melandry in 2nd spot. I am sure he will be more motivating and see more podiums. That bike is crap but better than the Duke. Well..the Duke only suitable for Stoner and Barros...

Wish more race like this., .

just proves what great things vale has done for our sport by bringing such exposure to many people and in far away places that dont even have there own gp

Most sensible post ever by pinky.

Nah, Kallio's just almost his favorite.

You're right Some, there are actually two categories:

A.) Worshipers & B.) Mindless-cheerleaders

YELLOW ARMY.

Not really sure if I liked the race
<
. I kinda have mixed feelings. On one hand watching the riders swap bikes (like making a pit stop) is very exciting. The anticipation was very on the edge. But the on track racing was aweful, doubled by possibly the worst camera footage ever. Somebody needs to fire the producer. They really need to add PIP they can show more onboard footage and more overtakings as well as follow other action around the track.

Notables for me were:

Toseland getting passed by Edwards - Edwards blew by Toseland, are their bikes equall??
Dovi getting passed by Pedrosa - What happened to Dovi to blow such a big lead?
Rossi crashing - No harm no foul, it was exciting, I was anticipating Rossi to get back in the race.

Watching Lorenzo ride the most lonely race of his life was really quite boring
I am guessing the rest of the field was equally spread out??

Yeah, i'll go with most of that sacky but what about Marco ??

Kallio set the fastest WET lap, not the fastest lap. He was also riding over the limit, giving speed less meaning.

FWIW, Hayden (via MTV) is the reason I started really watching MotoGP. He's helped the sport immensley in the USA. Don't .... on him. He's a good rider and ambassador.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (#46 @ May 17 2009, 12:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>from motogp.com

Vale:
"I had difficulties from the start and I really could not ride my bike to its best. By the fourth lap I felt that I was quite slow and that I couldn’t ride as I wanted. I decided to change bikes early because usually this strategy pays off. I knew that I had to warm the tyres up a little bit but I crashed anyway in that corner because at that point the track was still wet and I just didn’t ride into it in a calm enough manner. Luckily I was able to make it back to the pits and then later I changed again, but the rule says that if you change the bike again then you have to use one wet tyre, and so this is what we did. When I started that time, the pit-limiter on my bike was not on and so I was given a ride-through for speeding, but by that time it was too late for our race anyway. We’ve had problems throughout the entire weekend with the set-up of the bike and I was just hoping that I could stay with the riders in front and get some important points for the championship. Now we go to Mugello, my home GP, where I will perhaps be even more motivated than usual!"

------------------

i'd like to add that the race was one of the more exciting races i've seen (in motogp). sucks that the weather had to make it so. i've really been enjoying WSBK!!

hayden has had some of the worst luck in racing i've seen in quite some time. i'm hoping that changes ... and SOON.

If you consider it to be ........ for someone to be surprised that Rossi had a race like he did then i would have to ask where you have been the last 8 years or so.

Your deflection doesn't work on me Tommy. There is a difference between being "surprised" and being "smug"; your smugness is ........, and you're the king of that.

real noob mistake from rossi.

twice

once for crashing and secondly for speeding in pit lane

Tom: "Yea like has been said today was good for the championship battle...surprised..."

Tommy, as usual, you try to weasel your way out of stupid .... you say. CONTEXT Tommy; pinky calls them Rossi's "noob mistakes" and you stamp your smug approval. Why else would you chose Pinky to quote? You're smug, and most all the time you're post are full of ..... Hey look, there's another pinky post you can go agree with; birds of a feather...

EDIT: Here you go Tommy. Does it make you any less SMUG? Same ...., as you can see.

Lorenzo and Melandri were brilliant today, Pedrosa is getting more impressive as the season goes on. Great stuff.

SMUG! You are smug Tommy, otherwise no need to quote a notorious hater who's post is solely to be smug about the mistakes of which you stamp you seal of approval.

I didn't say fastest lap of the race. I said fastest lap of the race at that point. Ie Lap 10 when he was on dry tyres. So no it wasn't fastest wet lap and he wasn't riding over the limit for the dry line - Hayden got in his way. Kallio's good when the conditions get tough - I've watched him close enough over the past 8 years to have seen that! I do however find it funny when people associate this with his Ice Racing

giant spikes anyone?

Maybe I shouldn't speak too soon but I'm starting to wonder why I liked Hayden.

Also like to note that I can't believe I was cheering Edwards on as he caught Toseland. The St. George's Cross in my house starts to wimper. Now where's that star spangled banner?!

I am not a fan of Marco after last year.

It was a bogey race in variable conditions. He ran a well managed race and was really fast so props to him. He ran about the same race as Lorenzo. Didn't really face any "racing" just maintained a gap. I am quite surprised at his second place finish as was he. What more is there to say?
