2018 Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley

Gonna go ahead and say this.

Karma finally bit Marquez in the ... for trying to punt Petrux off the track in the opening lap.

He did well here last year. The reason he looks so sorted today is because of the flow of the track. That track is flow from beginning to end there's no hard braking. it's a JLo track. It'll be back to normal after this weekend for JLo. Act like you've been there before jlo ..... This isnt yiur first podium

Pretty exclusive list which they put up of riders who have won premier class races for 2 different marques, and the list of those who have won premier class races on a Ducati isn't that long either.

Something in what you say no doubt, plays to his strengths, corner speed not ungodly late braking, but making the tires last on a Ducati is still significant imo, he has had 1 lap pace fairly often for a while.

He got it right. Something someone of his caliber was and will in the future be paid to do regularly.

The modified tank really seemed to help. Never thought of it before but the Ducati's stability under heavy breaking might not have been as complimentary to Lorenzo's Mr. Smooth style. Point and shoot has never been his thing. Can't help wondering how his time at Ducati will inform his experience on a Satellite Yamaha should that come to be.

Nobody is booing Lorenzo. In fact people are singing along to the Spanish national anthem.

I thought the ongoing narrative was that the yellow crowd boos everyone not named Rossi!

I wonder why a certain rider is the only one who gets booed! Hmmm...

I think it looked worse than it actually was. On the slow motion replay it didn't look so bad.

I've only seen it twice though...

Yet they booed him last year and cheered his crashes. They're just ....., like you.

I'm happy for Lorenzo, if only to show that he still has it somehow. It would be ironic if he starts dominating on the Ducati now that he's almost confirmed to go. All it took was extra support in the tank, these teams spend so much on development and somehow the easy solutions fly under the radar for a long time. Dovi was alright, he did what was expected on a pure ducati circuit.

Rossi did well by fending off the Suzukis, props to him. I don't understand why Maverick's starts are so horrendous but it's costing him big time, I don't know what his problem is.

Marquez binned it and made the championship interesting again. Pedrosa needs to retire.

Slighty disappointed on Iannone, he was my favorite to win the race and in the end he was barely ahead of Rins, who was riding here for the first time in the MGP category.

Overall very interesting race even if Lorenzo lead comfortably (you never know if he's going to drop his rhythm), battle for 3rd was exciting.

I was too, as well. Because I remember reading that Marquez and himself had the best race pace, so I was pretty sure that I would see him right in the front. Then, somewhere in the middle of the race he experienced some issues (bike reaaaally unstable at the exit of the corners) and then tried for the podium but VR was just too good.
But, overall, 4th&5th is really good for Suzuki.

Sucks that Dovi is 4th in standings with 66 points - but the gap is not insurmountable. Could still be a tight season. It'll be interesting to see how the Ducatis fare for the rest of the season.

Good race, kudos to Lorenzo for finally pulling something out of his .... Don't think he will be around on the Duc in 2019 in spite of this win. Still was nice to see what looked like the old Lorenzo out there for a day, so we know he hasn't lost it. Corner shape looked better this time around but the question is can he continue this at Barcelona or does he as someone mentioned revert back to what we've seen for almost all of the Ducati stint.

Pity Marquez went with that tire choice, really thought he had a chance to challenge for the win till he went down.

The Michelin tires are garbage, 6 crashes in the first couple of laps? Outrageous.

I really think Dovi gave everything he had in 2017. He's looking like he's back in journeyman mode instead of the podium as he had nothing to catch Lorenzo. Genuinely thought he would close the gap the way he was doing last year and at parts of this season.

If that gas tank placement change makes a difference for Lorenzo that would be a huge sign of his development abilities and what he was likely doing for Yamaha when Rossi was not there.

Petrucci ran out of steam as did the Suzuki's. But they made the battle with Rossi interesting for a bit. Kudos to Rossi for keeping himself on the podium. Fortunes rise and fall with every race this year. Wish the tires weren't such a ....... joke. It's a safety risk to the riders that is being overlooked.

Not only that riders were forced to run tyres that they didn't like or couldn't get a good feeling from because the tyres that they had a good feeling with wouldn't have lasted the race distance. It was clear from the start of the weekend that Michelin had stuffed up for this round.

One race does not make a championship.

what's more pathetic is that he's acting smug because the factory Yamahas are finally doing what is expected of them; that is, beating the satellite Yamaha. Also, one race does not make a championship and neither does one pole position. I frankly thought Rossi won the title yesterday given how euphoric synn and the valeban were.

BTW, here's food for thought: in the last 2 seasons (counting this), Rossi and Lorenzo have won the same number of races. Wonder what synn thinks about this
