2018 Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley - Mugello

IMHO Mugello is better...I'd say only Phillip Island is comparable to it, but Mugello wins because it's more complete.

I have unfortunately ridden Mugello only once, but that still gave me some understanding of it.

It has everything a track could have: uphills, downhills, a huge straight, strong braking points, fast corners, slow parts, and moreover it doesn't have any parts where it's hard to overtake.

Add the layout to the equation and that's it

Then I'd suggest you go to Spa, it is similar in lots of ways, but for flat out turning fun Courbe Paul Frere and Blanchimont will get you excited, easy to lose if on the wrong line. Plus Eau Rouge, bottom out on the suspension then wind it on, bike goes all squiggly with a bit of head shake. Plenty of slow corners to get it wrong like the 1st one which is off camber.

Sounds tempting...:rolleyes::rolleyes: tho I don't have a bike for it right now ahaha... I haven't ridden any road racing since 2015 unfortunately, as I couldn't keep up with the costs of it I sold my 848 and switched to dirt track. Still have all the gear and tools of course.

I'm currently saving money for a Panigale :p I shall be able to get it by next spring. Then I'll hopefully never quit riding road racing again until I'm phisically unable to do it :D

You should definitely head to Spa, if you liked Mugello you'll love it. I can't wait to go back to Spa and conquer it properly!

In 2016 when it was the best bike on the grid?

Rossi himself just said it was the best bike for the first half of 2016, but that they were surpassed by Honda and Ducati in the second half once they figured out the spec ECU and Michelins.

God you guys in Europe are so lucky.... "just drop into Spa", "Try Mugello on your way to Misano" Nurburgring, Hohenheim, Isle of Man TT, Lemans, Assen, That hilly postcard looking racetrack in Austria, lets not forget Karel's track in Czech if your out that way... Then there is all the Spanish tracks like Aragon...

Really depends where you live tho. Speaking of my own neck of the woods, yes there are areas of Italy where literally every second kid rides moto, and they have at least a couple small tracks in each village (Romagna for example, which is indeed where 75% of the Italian GP racers hail from). Whereas in other areas there are entire regions where you can barely ride (I am referring to road racing).

It's true that you have the possibility to travel around the country/continent but that takes money, and lots of it...all the Italian riders who don't hail from "motorcycle regions" come from very wealthy families, Iannone being a good example.

What I envy of Oceania and North America is the possibility of freeriding dirtbikes, which we pretty much can not do at all. You either ride on a motocross track or get ready to get tickets, and lots of em :D

If I could only pick one course to ride in the whole world, it'd be Pike's Peak.
Hope to go one day.
