Nice result for Zarco, he definitely was the entertainer in the race, shame on the rest, they were boring.
I think Mr Miller needs a big fist in his gob

I don't have the live timing app. Anybody know what the gap was between Marquez and Lorenzo?

From memory, circa 10 seconds. He was 14 seconds behind the winner. That's why Dall'Igna wasn't really overjoyed, and said he's looking forward to the tests and more work to be done. Anyway the podium is great for Jorge's morale, he needed it.

The 2017 Yamaha really didn't work with the tires that Michelin brought to Jerez, while the M1s from 2016 looked in good shape. The Hondas, thanks also to the recent improvements in the engine and electronics, could use these Michelins the best.

Now we'll se what happens at Le Mans, what they bring there... Maybe those who think that Michelin works with Dorna to keep the championship race close, could be right...? ;)

You don't need app, just look at results on motogp.com. It was around 8.5 seconds but Marquez backed off about 4 seconds in the last 2 laps

I have not heard Rossi's reason for his showing today, but don't be at all surprised if for the next race, the front construction gets much stiffer. The only downside for Dorna bringing a stiffer front to appease Rossi, is Marquez wants the same thing.

Indeed, and this is probably probably what will prevent Rossi's preferred tire choice from having as big of an impact as it otherwise would have in a previous era. Marquez with the stiffer front will run away with the title as I'm sure Michelin and Dorna know.

It will also crucify Pedrosa and Lorenzo.

Unfortunately. If a stiffer construction is to come, they should at least have the decency to offer the other construction to those who still want it. Lorenzo might have actually made a serious title defense with the 2017 Michelin profile last season.

Yep, and that makes Goubert a King Maker. He alone can decide which riders can or cannot contest the championship with what tire he decides to bring on race day. And has been mentioned, he can somewhat keep the championship close by manipulating tire choice race to race

when the carcass was soft, do you remember where lorenzo finished in sepang pre season testing? also GP qatar when he set a new lap record? also the biggest winning margin in Le Mans? and the last win in Valencia?

he might not just win the title, he might dominate the series.

True, but his inability to make tires work not made to his strength is what separates him from the Stoners, Marquez's and to lesser extent the Rossi's of the world. Stoner and Marquez are much more adaptable, Rossi less adaptable than those 2, but more adaptable than Lorenzo. The least adaptable was the winner today, next time out, he may be 6th if the tires and weather don't align.

Great to see Dani on form today, his tears on the podium showed how much this meant to him. He's only ten points behind the championship lead too.
Yamaha factory team dropped the ball this weekend, I've not seen Rossi struggle that much in a race for a long time, Vinales did better but as a whole they need to work hard in the test tomorrow. Still, to have a four way championship would be brilliant.

Agree.

But I fear Povol is right. Like I said, similar to Misano, the conditions were perfect for Dani today. Let's hope that the softer carcass remains an option.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how large do you imagine the smile was on the face of Aleix Espargaro when he passed Rossi on the Aprilia? Must have been quite a good feeling after that incident at Misano last season.

The factory Yamahas have shown some fundamental problems with tires today, which I doubt will go away by simply using the harder carcass preferred by one of their two riders as well as by one of the two HRC riders. One thing is a rider tire preference, another thing is bike/frame tire compatibility.

I am inclined to agree, but without learning precisely what the problem was and quite why it was so acute at Jerez it is hard to comment.

Expect a massive inquisition - the scale of which wouldn't have been likely had the same woes afflicted another rider/garage.

I prefer to think that if he gets into a groove like 2012 he can go far. I don't agree the stars have to align for Dani to perform well, he just needs a bike he has confidence in.

Damn garbage Michelin tires! Fatass Michelin man makes me sick!!
