All this Ben Spies talk has got me thinking. Did anyone else see the interview with Ben (I think it was at the start of the current WSBK season, but don't quote me on it) and he was saying that the shoulder finally has enough strength back in it and he was considering riding competitively again? I don't think he was talking GPs though.
I'm not saying he was the best, but he was my favourite rider and the factory season with the broken swing arm etc was a nightmare.
I remember him saying (post retirement) that he got how everyone was so fast, in that he understood how they did it, with the exception of 2 people, Casey and Marc.

I don't recall Marquez overlapping Spies GP career.

I only heard about the interview second-hand. Yeah.. I miss having him around. His time in WSBK was so exciting. His time in MotoGP was bloody tragic. The guy had such a dry sense of humor, and he never, or almost never, was one to bitch and moan. I still have my official Yamaha crew jacket from his WSBK days, 'cause I'm such a fan boy.

Ben was on the grid at a WSBK event and one of the Eurosport presenters spoke to him when he mentioned a possible come back. I don't mind admitting that I got a little frenzied-up.
Agreed on the sense of humour, I will always remember the sketch he did when he said how he memorised the new tracks depending on how they resembled dinosaurs and his key chain obsession too.
As for his WSBK season, has there ever been a more impressive rookie season on the world stage other than Marc?

I don't know why it took so long for me to put the muppets on Ignore. I'm so enjoying the forum without their ......... Do yourself a favor. ;)

Didn’t hypoKesh criticize Roger for trying to do the same thing by creating his own forum?
Now imagine if me or Synn found a way to hack into his little bubble. He’d be crying foul.
That’s exactly what hypokesh did and Roger didn’t say ..... He allowed him on his forum. Shortly after Benedick came back here, and began to slander Roger AGAIN.

The thing about the ignore button is that it still shows you that someone posted. Kancer has no impulse control, so he will still click off the ignore button to read the posts, and pretend like he didnt.
So carry replying gents. Bubble Boys ignore ruse is fooling no one

Kenny Roberts Senior?

Spies was a great teammate for MM. No not that MM, nor that MM, either. But the Australian dude. Matt has a great sense of humor. Way too dry and sophisticated for the American audience. So, Ben was a good counter-point for the AMA audience. I am sure Mr. Spies owes much of his success to having to race Matt. And he pushed MM. Otherwise, MM really would have just "cruised" though multiple more AMA championships. Honda needed to put more money into the 1000cc part of the series. I think they got confused by the Daytona race, and thought all they had to do was win that one. Silly bears.

What happened with Spies was surely surprising. And I assume disappointing to other American fans, like myself.

Not challenging you... but that's the first I've ever heard of an intimation of Mladin having a sense of humor. It's true that a lot of crap gets said in the paddock that's not necessarily accurate, but the overwhelming impression I've got - especially from people who have met him, is that he was an arrogant, humorless prick. Did you meet the guy? If he has a sense of humor, he sure hid it well.

Great. You don't think he had a sense of humor. I am not sure why you think you have to "challenge me". I am not having a ....... contest.

Like I stated, his humor was over the head of most Americans. I am SURE that included most of the pit. I use to think motorcyclists were smart. I have learned better of that miscalculation.

Lets not misunderstand. I said I'm not challenging you. I am only stating my understanding and have said, that often there are misperceptions; an opening as it were, for you to correct my impression. Are you saying his sense of humor is/was uniquely Australian? BTW - watched an interview with Mladin, who was quite generous and did in fact speak very highly of Spies, saying he was one of the best.

He’s an impulse driven little .....

He claims to have put people on ignore, but then he quotes one of his buttbuddies and replies passively to the posts he supposedly doesn’t see anymore.

It’s quite embarrassing, really. Guy doesn’t even have the balls to face his fears head on. Probably because he knows it will end up in tears like it did for pie face and if he had to leave this forum, there’s absofuckinglutely nothing else left in his life.

I am going to derive extra pleasure tormenting him now because now he can’t even admit openly that his gears are getting churned.

I am ......' glad yer still here mate. If so-and-so gets on yer tits, put 'em on ignore. I hadn't done that for anyone in years, and was for god knows what reason resistant to doing it, but so glad I've put the clowns on Ignore. When you do it - you just see little notices that this or that clown has posted and it's strangely satisfying to know they are trying their best to piss you off and utterly failing. When I see the notice that they have posted right after me, I get this image in my head, of rats in the basement below, with all the air leaking out and the rats slowly suffocating, which is apropos, as replying to trolls is like the oxygen they need to live. Three angry trolls, slowly suffocating. :furious::furious::furious:
