Just out of curiosity, do Michelins race tyres come off a standard production line?
One reason I ask is a friend of mine who rides a 'blade has had his front michelin shred after 1k miles.

I doubt it. I'm not certain of the exact moulding process, but in mass production mouldings, changing compounds is a swine of a thing. You really want to run as long as you can with a single composition so you don't have to purge the system. Whether they use a production *process* is another question.

New Michelin ads are out.

Yamaha has stated they took a wild swing at the setup to get more rear grip, this is the result. Desperate times lead to desperate measures and in this instance it backfired

Thankyou, you've corrected my faulty post :)

Vinaeles has confirmed that If a rider comes out and says something against the tyres they get an email. He says he can't tell the truth about what happened. He seems to insinuate he may have gotten a dud tyre to the Spanish press.
Quote from Dovi
"With Michelin still, it's not so easy to manage every weekend. The situation is never stable, so you have to be smart to manage the situation. Every weekend is different, and something different happened this weekend to the last weekend," Dovizioso said. "Every weekend, you have to adapt and understand exactly what's going on. It's not so easy, but it's the same for everybody. This is the championship."
Believable comments. Are these Twitter comments or from somewhere else.
It's being reported that this is one of tech3 tires being summoned to factory tent.
Ah - Ha! Now this makes sense. Zarco is kicking ... and making everyone nervous. They can't have the headliners getting mushed about by a satellite beginner, for Agostini's sake! Get those suckers in here and sabotage what he likes before he actually finishes ahead of Val and Mav - again. Too paranoid? I like Zarco. What can I say?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if he received a dud tyre(uk spelling)[emoji851], it would of had more credibility if Rossi had a GOOD race as you could say that look the same bike has raced really well it must be the tyre. But both riders slumped in the race and I think it is the bike setup rather than the tyres as it appears the tyre is getting chewed up by the factory Yamaha bike in its current setup. Anyone else agree or disagree

Seems like too much of a coincidence that it happened only (as far as we've heard) on the two factory Yams. If the disintegration of the tires was soley a result of Yam engineers making a huge error in judgement - that was quite the ....-up.

Tyres are distributed at random I think that it's highly unlikely that both riders received Dud tyres

Doesn't the tyre supplier change the tyres? They know who's rims they are putting rubber on. Only a couple of people would really know if tyres are hand picked or truly random. I have personally seen and had Pirelli slicks and DOTs hand picked at the track. There can be quite a variation in motorcycle race tyres, and dates or other visual signs can indicate the better or worse tyres. Edit: (Dunlop slicks have had serial numbers beyond date/location codes.)

Since we are usually worried about Rossi getting an unfair tyre advantage, I would imagine this was a mistake by the picker, or the inconsistent Michelin problem continues on, even for the venerable VR46.

The tires the riders use on race weekend are awarded by a blind draw.

No such thing. People stack the tires. People mount the tires. But, I will assume that the system is fair, because the alternate conspiracy theory is more than I can stand at the moment, unless the Russians are behind it. :p

I watched a documentary on the tyres and basically one one person knows the allocation and after that the other guys mount the tyres. No one can select the tyres they want per se.
