Round 14: 2016 Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón: MotorLand Aragón

Rain with t-storms predicted for the time of the MotoGP race. bugger
This better be wrong. I don't think I can handle another messed-up, who's really got the right tire, is it a flag-to-flag, oh look, here comes molasses pants in the wet, because he can't ride worth a damn in the dry. ...... And why is he passing all the championship leaders. There are rules, for god's sake.

Fair play if he wins the championship, there'll be no caveat at all , it would be nice to see the points tighten up a bit though, it would make the title race more enjoyable.

.... that, if my guy is winning i want it to be a blow out. Wrap that damn thing up as soon as possible, you never know what might happen. Marquez could have broken something this morning and thrown it all away. Oh, and speaking of blow outs, my Vols fell down 21 zip today to the Florida Gators and then proceeded to score 38 unanswered on the vaunted Gator defense to win going away.

Nah .... that I want to see Marquez back to his aggressive best and to see that he needs to have the championship locked up.

Unfortunately shaunna, A.Asparagus said this after...

It's said there was oil on the track hence Marquez going down in the same manner as Hayden. Nicky lucked out because he nearly got hit by Pol's bike sliding down the escape road.

the commentators alluded to the fact their may be oil or something on the track. Odd for so many incidents to happen in the same section of track almost simultaneously.

Marc always likes to push to the limits of the bike, the tyres and the flag marshals direction lol They are part of the attributes that make him such an amazing rider and MotoGP champion. He a professional racer though, its in his nature to push.

Im seeing sunny and 80 at race time with a small chance later in the evening
I couldn't find Motorland Aragon on accuweather so I searched for the closest town, Alcaniz, 6 miles away, and the prediction is for that place. I`m hoping for good weather, but I have to admit that I like very much the unpredictable result of a wet or flag to flag race.

Race direction absolved him of wrong doing in this incident. The flag Marshall wasn't waving the yellow at the previous corner, Marquez didn't see it until he was about to pass Epsargaro and locked up the front(oil or not) trying to make sure he didn't pass.

Pol also said that he did not see the flag ............. but let that not stop character assassination (not you, but it is occurring elsewhere)

Source - MotoGP News - Aragon: Espargaro: I didn?t see yellow flag, Marc too aggressive

“I think in that case for sure Marc was too aggressive in overtaking me. In that moment it was not possible to do it in that way. For this reason he crashed. But with the question of the yellow flag, I even didn't see it. It was too fast.

I've been having a discussion on twitter with a bsb racer who reckons no racer ever brakes for a waved yellow, doesn't happen period. He was saying #93 deserved a penalty.

Did anyone actually see the press conference? Curious to see if Cal actually worded it quite like this article. For some reason I'm surprised he'd come out so strongly on one side when a few other riders would normally stay out of it

‘Jorge’s wrong’ - Crutchlow takes a swipe at Lorenzo

Yes i watched it, Marc was questioned by a journalist about the yellow flag incident and the Asparagus accusation. He explained that when he sat with race direction and replayed the video, they discovered the marshall who is usually at a position before that corner wasn't there. Marc saw the next marshals flag but it was too late, he braked hard, locked the front and stacked it.

The guy is right in that no racer ever slows for a yellow flag (a point I have made for years), it simply does not happen at near all levels, as the rider that slows is the rider that will soon be passed (and that is from experience of flagging).

I would ask this guy to explain why Marquez deserved a penalty actually as if it is because he crashed under yellow, that is one thing but if it is for not slowing down, then all should be penalised. Even then, as for crashing under yellow it occurred because he (I suspect) shat himself a little knowing the penalty for overtaking under yellow and quite simply, hit the deck and Pol.

But I would also ask the racer, if the suggested penalty is for not slowing ..... pot, kettle?

IMO only but in this instance he does not deserve a penalty as the previous flag point was NOT displaying the yellow as per regulations and thus, MM had no idea until he entered the 'live yellow' point. As this is backed up by Pol's comments and reported elsewhere (alleged Race Control comments), then I would give Marquez a pass on this one as there was little he could do in reality as he likely was already positioned to take Pol.

I couldn't find any press conferences that Cal attended at Aragon, Cal certainly wasn't at the post qualifying press conference like the article has suggested. The picture in the article is from Silverstone.

May have been something asked to him directly by a journo, his answer then used to create click bait headlines. Just a BS article I think.

This is why I think the racer is wrong, that was a circumstance where #93 felt he needed to brake.

Aleix just tried to switch off Marquezs bike during the practise start don't know if it was sour grapes from yesterday or plating around.

Not knowing who the racer may be but I suspect that there may well be a little personal bias/jealousy involved in a call for a penalty in this instance as I would be quite sure that the rider in question has done similar throughout their career (may not have crashed but would have overtaken on a yellow in dubious circumstances).

IMO only, but were it not for the 'oh ...., its a yellow' moment then it is very likely Marquez would have completed an overtake of Pol without a fall (all hypothetical of course)
