It's a stupid penalty. Either it was bad enough to warrant a proper action of start from the back, or it wasn't deserving of a penalty. Sitting on the fence is gay.

If we didnt have the drama queen fan, race direction would not feel like they had to place every little ....... incident under a microsope.   .... dont just happen anymore, it has to have fault attached, then we have to go through the finger pointing process of who is going to get blamed. Society in a nutshell.

I have no idea what the constructors  champion earns at seasons end, but 25 points seems a little harsh. Anyone know what the standings are.

Michael, his approach to racing is to be right on the rear wheel of a leading rider. It intimidates, and it allows him to take shots at passing that are not there when you are a bike length, or even a half bike length behind. Is it more dangerous, sure, but his approach to racing is what has lead to him being the best overtaker in the series. There was another great bike racer who employeed this tactic, Nori Haga.  Marquez needs to work very hard on his race starts, then his agressive ovetaking wont be an issue. Of course if he leads into turn one and pulls away, there will be some who .....  about that as well. Intimidation is a part of sport. In some sports  its physical. in others its mental. In bike racing, its both

We agree about many things, but that is rather my point ie exactly what was he trying too hard to do?. If you rather than your opponent make the mistake when you are attempting to intimidate someone, imo the adverse consequence should be on you rather than your opponent. If he never or hardly ever makes a mistake while attempting to intimidate, as was largely the case with Rossi, that may change the argument, but this seems to be far from the case in MM's career so far, this year or previously.

You can pass anyone anywhere if you are prepared to crash into them when they are on the racing line.

team standings according to yamaha website...

To clarify, Honda gets 25 points knocked off for the the incident at Aragon, but their next bike comes in in fourth, Alvaro Bautista and Honda receive 13 for him.  So in reality Honda receive a 12 point deduction.

Is the constructors title decided between just the factory teams, or are satellite points figured in? Does the Repsol total include the 25 point penalty

Migs has provided team standings, but you should be looking at the constructors championship table. Different things.

Edit: missed the post before that one. That's the table you're after. Updated version is on wikipedia (without penalty points deducted)

I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Honda, Yamaha, Ducati or craps. I hereby advise all teams I am available ti compete in the 2014 season. I only want 1 million salary, travel, food, accommodation and baby sitting. I have experience, been riding all manner of motorcycles for over 16 years. My 600 is fast and it doesn't have this gps auto control thingie. I can also make my tyres last at least two to three months. So this should be a cakewalk. I am also Australian, history will tell you we are all awesome and fast. I await your offers.....

The food bill will be the deal breaker. I've seen Aussies eat... ;)

Why use that as a pejorative? Surely nad suction is a positive?

I had to look up 'pejorative', it sounded like something to make your bowels let go :O

Fence buggery? Hmmm... (looks in godaddy.com for the domain name...) I'm sure there's a category for it on politico.com.

wow, what an idiotic penalty. Penalize the manufacturer and slap Marquez on the wrist (lightly). Should have punished Marquez, not the factory.

Anybody watch the pre race press conference?

I can't tell if lorenzo is joking, even tho he clarified that he was serious and that is his opinion.

Marc hardly did anything wrong.  The real issue was the design flaw.  I think that the penalty was fair.  It gave Marc the thought that he needs to leave a margin of error when he rides (not that I want him to), and let honda know not to make a mistake like that again.

Until it infringes on your opinion of things, then its a call to obstruct, game, and outright taking up arms for revolt, right?  The world according to Pov Hannity.

The penalty was a perfect reflection of the state of GP and Race Direction.

I disagree. Marc was riding wrecklessly and despite the somewhat questionable location and design of the wheel speed sensor and throttle cable, the fact of the matter is that it was contact that caused the crash, a type of contact that he has came close to many times this season. In many races this year we've seen him nearly clip the back wheel of another rider and run wide. He needs to be more careful and he deserves a penalty, not Honda.

“We can have a better show in our sport because the safety of the riders

doesn't matter so much, the important thing is the spectators enjoy the

show.

“The Jerez action was a great show, looking at the marshals

[scattering] like chickens in Silverstone [to avoid Marquez's bike] was a

great show. In Laguna Seca he overtook Valentino outside of the track,

it was a great show. So they should provide an incentive for these types

of actions.”

Great rider and a snarky ...... to boot. I knew there was a reason I love you J-Lo!

He has also taken this place off his list, hardly surprising though, is it, the only genuine paddock insider Powerslide has, and he gets slagged off by one or two, nice that some think they are in a better position than David.
