Sounds like you just finally admitted that the racing sucks balls

Why use that as a pejorative? Surely nad suction is a positive?

Marquez will win as all the other riders are ..... scared to go near him incase they get killed. Barry will write something about how Stoner would have won every race in the world if he hadn't been beaten. Geonerd will like this post. Jum will write an essay on eastern european and sub saharan politics relating to Nicky not taking the title. Red will swear, Willski will offend no one, Aarrab will speak the truth and JK will upsets number of members. Somewhere, on an island in the Atlantic, a Scotsman will play bass and enjoy the race, sharing off site banter with his muckers and maybe having a bit of a larf.

One penalty point and no constructors points? That'll teach him a lesson eh?

I don't think there should be any penalty but that looks like a message to HRC to get him to pull his head in.

I agree, there should be no penalty for trying hard, and it looks as though they have passed the buck to HRC.

I don't think there should have been any penalty for this particular incident. But again, Dani did absolutely everything right and was put out of the race by contact from MM, and I don't think the mechanism by which the contact caused Dani's demise is particularly relevant.

I don't believe the "just trying hard" line of argument cuts it. Either MM was attempting to make a pass when a pass wasn't on, or was too close to Dani for no obvious reason so that a mistake by him was a fair chance of adversely impacting on Dani.

Or he just made a small mistake in the breaking area.

Agree with both of you.

Personally, I can't help but think that the points system is a method for Dorna to abrogate any effective penalty while maintaining the appearance of doing so.

That is the problem. If you stay so close when you can't make a pass (assuming he wasn't attempting a pass) then a small braking error is far more likely to have consequences. If he was trying to pressure Dani into a mistake as some have argued then that is arguably the one circumstance where he might deserve a penalty, since he advantaged himself by making rather than provoking a mistake.

25 points taken from Honda in the constructors championship. Good thing this incident didn't take place between Corti and Edwards, FTR Honda would have started the next race with -23 points. Oh no wait, they stripped 25 points because Marquez won. Guess that would work out just fine for FTR Honda then.

Race Direction once again showing great foresight in insuring equal treatment.

It's a stupid penalty. Either it was bad enough to warrant a proper action of start from the back, or it wasn't deserving of a penalty. Sitting on the fence is gay.

Michael, his approach to racing is to be right on the rear wheel of a leading rider. It intimidates, and it allows him to take shots at passing that are not there when you are a bike length, or even a half bike length behind. Is it more dangerous, sure, but his approach to racing is what has lead to him being the best overtaker in the series. There was another great bike racer who employeed this tactic, Nori Haga.  Marquez needs to work very hard on his race starts, then his agressive ovetaking wont be an issue. Of course if he leads into turn one and pulls away, there will be some who .....  about that as well. Intimidation is a part of sport. In some sports  its physical. in others its mental. In bike racing, its both
