What were the headlines the year Nicky beat Rossi. Were they, "Rossis season a resounding success?" No, they were quite the opposite. The word failure was used quite a bit. Why? Because Rossi was the fastest man in GP, unbeatable on any bike. That season is still viewed by most as a great failure by Rossi. Do you think Yamaha and Rossi were having victory parties after that season to celebrate their failure or Casey was having "success" parties at the end of 2008, 2009,2010, and 2012. Casey was the hands down favorite to win the championship those four years. He was by far the fastest man on the track. After 2006 Casey was so good there was noone who could beat him and yet he repeatedly failed to beat those slower then him. This is not success. It is failure. Whether it be racing, business or otherwise a product that is superior to others yet fails to perform is a failure

I was listening to a radio show recently where the host was discussing supercross. (Jason Ellis, some Aussies may know who he is) He's a bit of an insider and knows the riders quite well. A caller called to discuss Ricky Carmichael and tell a story about how RC was an ....... to him. Ellis said there was no ....... way RC is an ........ Hes the nicest politiest guy out there. Caller says yup, he tried to get an autograph and RC was being a ..... Ellis in disbelief forced the dude to tell the whole story. What happenned was the dude approached RC after a race in which he lost and Ricky refused to sign his ..... Ellis went on a 5 minute rant about how ....... sick racers are. They they are mentally insane and so consumed by winning that if they have the skill and the setup to win and they dont then they are inconsolable and physically sick after a loss. Krop has stated much the same numerous times. I believe he used the word sociopath to describe their demeanor.

Do you really think Stoner views the whole of his career as a success or a failure. If he typifies the average racer then he himself surely believes he had two great years and failed the rest.

Povol you love to use football analogies. Peyton Manning is one of the greatest QB's of his generation yet has only won a SB once.

Hes set every record imaginable and will enter the hall of fame but is widely viewed as a failure because he cant win the big game.

Absolute hacker that Joe Montana as well. He only has  4 superbowl rings to show from a career spanning well over a decade, and wasn't even the MVP in all of them. I don't know how he lives with himself.

Ask Dan Marino how he lives with himself

He probably would have liked to win some Superbowls. He didn't though, as far as I recall.

Good to see you can speak for all the average racers. I think I know who would be happy to finish second in any championship, be it at club level or world championship level. Anyone who finishes below second place. I get the impression that it is only people who have never won anything who consider second place a failure. It is there way of dealing with the inferiority they feel, by being able to rationalise that other than the winner, everyone is a loser, just like them.

I'm sure Nicky would be pretty happy if he could get second in the championship.

Only by the jock sniffers of the world is Peyton Manning a failure. You know the type, the ones that never participated but know everything there is to know about sports.

I seen Stoner at Austin and he looked perfectly happy to be hanging out in the paddock again

Your replies are always the same.

Your quick to call someone a fool who doesnt share your opinion rather then trying to view the problem from both sides and debate it.

Fact: stoner was the most gifted athlete in his sport during his tenure

Fact: he was only able to beat his lesser competitors twice.

Hes the James Stewart of GP. The fastest man on the planet but career wise viewed as a failure

What a myopic .... you are - must be all that fiddling with your tiny cock to fuel the Florida GP effort.

"Fact: he was only able to beat his lesser competitors twice."

Fact: He was able to beat his competitors 38 times in 97 starts, making him the most successful rider of his era.

Fact: J Pantsdown's lack of stature has caused him to have a massive chip on his shoulder and to denigrate anyone that manages to make a success in life. It is inversely proportional to the size of his tiny cock.
