I'm assuming Kropo checked his balls at the door like usual?
It's not just the tow though Jum, he's trying to find better lines through following close enough to other riders. He's being purposely lazy by not doing the work himself.
Kropo actually asked tangentially a 'follow up' question related to Rossi alluding to being cheated out of the championship, however it was not a challenge to the man's assertion of being cheated, but rather his approach to this season, this was his question: 'Valentino, you said something very interesting (when he was answering the previous question from the female journalists) about racing with an "open mind". Kropo asked, "what do you mean by that [open mind]? Does that mean, taking more risks or not thinking about the championship or what?"
Rossi responded by talking about the tires, and how less forgiving they are compared to bstones, and how important it is not to make mistakes. He went on to compare his approach last year to this year, last year he was always within the points, but because this year he's catching up so has to take more risks.
So no, no journalists has or ever will call Rossi on the carpet with rigorous pressing questions over his ridiculous accusation that he was unequivocally 'cheated out of the championship'. Not challenging him seems the unstated collective agreement, it's too risky, and I'm sure the journalists have rationalize it with themselves personally, surely concluded they are justified. Nobody dares to get black listed; unfortunately this allows Rossi to carry on with his fantasy unabated and unchecked, as we can see from his recent interview still expressing the same ......... I imagine not the least aided and abetted by the journalistic corps unwilling to challenge him. To the credit of the lady journalist, she did ask him to elaborate on the answers he gave to the interview you posted where he says he was sapped of energy and is still paying for it now, because according to Rossi, he raced with a knife to his throat in the unfair finale of 2015.

Regarding Hector, I'm not so sure he is searching for lines when he's looking for a tow. The lines are fairly established, and each rider's style and machine necessitates a fairly prescribed path, not to mention what the track itself demands. Anyway, I'm ok with him exploiting the session given the disadvantages in parity. If he were on a factory ride, I'd say it's chickenshit. In a way, I think it's chickenshit that factories are allowed to field satellite bikes that are purposefully detuned, as Honda is accustomed to doing. Ducati is in a different boat, having limited resources, though I think the Italian manufacturer does lend reasonable support as they are still trying to gather data from all their machines to develop the factory performance. Hector is riding on a dinosaur in GP terms, and we all know it. Notwithstanding, the man on that machine is a world class competitor, still with all the sanguine desires to win and challenge for every position possible. Respectable? Consider this, he is behaving UNLIKE a certain other Ducati rider a few years ago that seemingly threw in the towel and concentrated making calls to the front office. So i respect at least in general what Hector is trying to do, albeit a case of ends justifying the means. I agree with you that catching a tow is justly frowned upon, and is an unsavory and off-putting tactic. No argument, it's never been an admirable maneuver. But I ain't gonna crucify Barbara for trying to exploit the proceedings when we all know the guy is ...... in regards to parity.
Btw, note to CAL CRUTCHLOW, his smug gestures when the journalists asked Hector about this didn't go unnoticed. Maybe a journalist should grow some balls and ask Cal why he's such an arrogant prick and suggest he start re-directing some of that ...... energy towards not crashing with stunning regularity. How the .... does he get away with crashing 5 of the first 6 races and half of the last two seasons and no journalists ever bring this .... up? But CONTRAST this to Hector, who had 'scored points in every race this season' until his dash snafu and was DQed, was called on the carpet by our journalists corps for him actually trying to utilize what is available to him during a qualifying session to 'better his potential' during the outcome of a race?!! The world has gone mad.
Dear journalists, perhaps this...
Instead of: hey Mr. Barbara, why are trying so hard to consistently and dutifully score the highest points in every race on that piece of .... outdated glorified CRT Ducati-nintendo64?
How about: hey Mr. Crutchlow, why are you crashing so ....... much on that near legendary HRC factory almighty RC213V... this, that, and every season? (Les we forget, the only reason he's on the RCV is because he bitched...err WHIMPED out of his factory contract with Ducati.)
If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.
