Rossi said he was not as comfortable on the second bike. Amazing how even though the bikes are setup exactly the same, they really are not exactly the same.

Right, he wasn't comfortable because something was off compared to the first bike. But, I don't think Rossi or his team was aware something was off on the 2nd bike and Rossi chose the better bike for the first half of the race as povol suggests. No way would they have a 2nd bike that's a second slower than the first just waiting to be used for the 2nd half of the race.

In a perfect world both bikes would perform the same but in racing that rarely happens, there is almost always a bike that the rider favors over the other, hence the #1 #2 designation. Marquez said they saved his favorite for the second half, Rossi obviously chose his favorite for the first half

Rossi, I had trouble with the second bike,
Marquez I was not comfortable with my first bike but when i got onto my bike the second one,
Marquez had his no:1 bike awaiting if I was understanding correctly.
Also explains how Rossi stayed with him part 1

Yeah.. Basically what I was eluding too. How the bikes where setup the same, but in both cases, each riding had a bike they were more comfortable on or faster on.

Dude - they never are. Even when everything about the chassis is inspected and compared with lasers and computers - they are in the end idiosyncratic, hand-built chassis and the riders always have a #1 and #2 favorite. And tires change from batch to batch as well.
