Unfortunately that is just the way it is.

People who are not avid Stoner fans would like him more if his avid fans were a bit more down to earth.

Not wanting to turn this ythread into a him vs him, let me ask do you think the same of other riders (ie. Rossi who's fans are as overzealous or protective)?

Garry

there are a few hardcore fans of other riders who are just as bad if not worse, for some of them stoner has achieved what he has on 100% luck, quite laughable really.

Exactly and again, all it does is diminish their enjoyment of what may well have been a ground breaking year for Stoner personally but the sport in general with a non Japanese factory winning.

IMO, Stoner, Ducati and all associated parties got their due reward for aa season of hard work and more credit to them.

The other factories and riders need to go away, work hard and lift their games to match which it does appear has been happenning and will continue into next year. I just seriously hope that there is no 1 make tyre rule to throw another complexity together.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he'd just gone past the entrance to the pits when he crashed? He was on the exit of the last corner.

World Champion 2007 !

<

a deserved champion imo, bit of a shame he won the championship off the podium,

well who said capi was past it ?
wot a boy guinters, 4th, top notch

what a podium. capi rdp and toni
<

thought rossi rode well untill the #2 bike came out
<
but thats racing, you got to take the rough with the smooh. roll on 08. this race proved a control tyre is NOT needed.

it was pretty exciting watching rossi close the 5 second gap but I was telling my gf if they were smart they would have came in earlier but I guess none of he top guys wanna come in until the others do, pedrosa had gone past the pit also. As for stoner of course yes he is the world champion but will he repeat? I cant honestly say I think he will. But he has done great this year

You must have been too busy laughing rather than watching. Comming out from pit on a new bike that sends you out in the gravel is scary. Not to take that seriously are not bravery but plain stupid. A loose bolt or a damaged wheel can eaily become a death trap for these riders. And don't say it doesn't happen as I'm sure every single racer has experienced mechanics errors.

+1

From Autosport:

"The feeling was very, very strange and I was not able to turn," Rossi said. "In fact I thought there was something wrong on the bike, on the steering. The first impression was like the tyre was flat, so I stopped"

Congrats to Stoner - Definitely deserved the title

Lets hope for 3 good final races now the pressure of the WC is off

Another bad weekend for the Japanese factories on home soil! No winners in any of the classes topped of by Ducati winning the riders champioship! No sake tonight!
<

Congratulations to Casey and Ducati and of course Loris. The kid did it, he deserves it all. The Bologna boys winning their first title on Japanes soil must have been super sweet. It was great to hear Mamola interviewing one of the Ducati guys who was crying and the it started Mamola off in tears, fecking hilarious! It was a fascinating race though. I'm very happy.

Sure thing Fish, Rossi got the ..... scared out of him when the bike wouldn't stop or turn for him. If anyone thinks it was some sort of pantomime when he returned to the pit a second time, they're an idiot. Unbelievable sour grapes that one

One hell of a race!!!

who didn't lead at some stage??

How much of a party must Ducati be having tonight...

Loris saves the day for them .... ( and gee was he riding when he was in front!! )

and Stoner gets the title even after the worries of FP and QP

does it get any better!!!!

Even though I'm a Stoner fan at present I think I preferred Capi. getting it .... it was like icing on the cake that the Ducati guys have been cooking all year.

Sad to see Capi. going to Suzuki next year really, I honestly think he had a lot to do with Stoner getting the title...... hidden issues but real issues .... like:............. Capi has allways maintained a good relationship with Stoner .... I wonder if he had been a bitch of a teammate if Stoner would have performed as well?? would be hard to have team mate troubles ... and in that sense perhaps of all the riders out there Capi. had to keep his head the most this year. Plus all that experience Capi. has ...

anyway .... what a race!!! ...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(K.J. @ Sep 23 2007, 07:15 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
True, but in the end one lap made all the difference, had he pitted at the same time as, or ideally before stoner, more than likely he would've been able to maintain his advantage. It is in no way michelins or yamahas fault for the timing rossi decided that he wanted to change bikes as previously suggested, because that is what screwed up his race.

Ehh, Rossi came out from the pits in 2nd place. What would've been better if he went in earlier? Sure, maybe he would've come out before Capirossi, but that's about it. He would still have lost places due to his tyre problems. Edwards backed him up and stated that the bike was almost unrideable the first couple of laps. So what would've changed by Rossi going in one lap before?

Congratulations to Stoner
WC 2007.
Well done. The youngest MotoGP WC ever.

Also congratulations to Capirossi and Mika Kalio.

Nope! Spencer was younger.

Not Moto GP though, Premier class yes.

So what exactly happened to Vale?

Phil

1 Wish I could fly to Philips Island. I'd love to see the crowd going ape-.....
2 Cheers to Capirossi; Ducati must be thinking they should have made him a better offer.
3 The only thing worse than racing in the rain, is racing when the track is going dry. High drama - yes. Great racing - not really.
4 I can't believe DP didn't .... up. It's about time.
5 It was a little sad watching Stoner and his crew celebrating on the podium after the actual race winners were gone. The cameraman tried to carefully not show that there was nobody cheering - except for all the guys from the Ducati factory. It was all for the sake of promo photos. The real celebration will be in three weeks.
6 What channel do you have to watch to see Randy M doing commentary? The two doofuses on Moto GP channel, for all their enthusiasm, are just awful. They keep saying the same stupid .... over and over. They are so amateurish. They need to buy themselves some new catch phrases.
7 The director of photography for this race, should be put up against a wall and shot. They missed 80% of the passing. This was the worst camera work I've seen in ages.
8 Not really been a big Rossi fan - so I was surprised to find myself feeling bad at his having to suffer so much ...... luck. When he goes back to his home on a cold night in Europe, he'll have to throw a couple of extra umbrella girls in the bed to get his spirits up.
<

8 Had a feeling that none of the predictions would be close, so held off making any. The good side of this race then, was that it wasn't predictable.

yeah i wasnt pleased with the tv directing either, though it seems to be a bit of an issue when we come to japan for F1 as well. Hopefully they do a good job next week at Fuji.

see rossi come into the pit the 2nd time when he wasnt on the pace after the tire change, to tell the world, "oh my bike is ...., i'm gonna do a ride thru to tell u about it" hhahahahah

well obviously his bike was ...., we could see that on the track......
when he was catching stoner and melandri there was no back tyre,

ROSSI= LEGEND

anyone with a brain could see that rossi was having big probs,
sorry but if he didnt have this prob he would have creamed everyone,
anyway hardly a good race, i mean how crap will that look when you want to see the time casey won the championship, worst title decider ive ever seen.

but still well done to casey

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pinky @ Sep 23 2007, 08:22 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
rossi didnt have a perfect bike so he gave up by coming into the pits just to have a whinge. unlike stoner who had clutch problems last week he rode around it and never gave up.

you know what, your a clown you can still ride with an iffy clutch but cant corner fast when ur tyres wont grip, just wait till next year when michelin get there head into gear............

1. Any rider who doesn't win a given race can say that the bike/tyres wasn't up to the task because it was built to allow the rider to win. But its a team sport and today they didn't have it sorted. Even if Rossi/Yamaha had a tyre/setup for the second part of the race i still don't think rossi would have won, it was clear from the riders who appeared on the podium that strategically speaking the early stop was better.

2. Sounds a little sore to me. I found the race to be a thriller, and the type of race that shows the difference between a guy on world championhsip form and a guy struggling to get it together. Rather approriate i thought.
