Since the championships in question were achieved with valentino rossi in the field, I don't quite understand what parallel you see; in particular 2006 is widely accepted as one of the best years of racing.
I don't think Jorge had that pace which backs up what rossi said in motegi about lorenzos pass on rossi at the start held him up by 2 secs losing rossi the race.
This thread has been played out not just here, but all across the sport's discussion spaces.
I wasnt on about 06 at all.....that was fair imo.
This last season tbh though.
Rossi injury ravaged, dani injured just as he might have hope(especially with lorenzo slow due to engine shortage), and stoner with front end problems all year(irrefutable according to jumkie).
Who else was really going to win this year....hayden?
I rest my case lol.
I don't have her on FB, though. Jaaanee...we're waiting here! taps foot

Go to the PowerSlide FB page, find her, then friend request... although you may be able to see the pics without "friending"... I'm not sure how she's set up.
It is testing my resolve to be consistent in my attitude to jorge's championship as opposed to hayden's and stoner's since I am a fan of both these riders and not a fan of him, but he could not have done much more than he has. In particular the unbroken stretch when he finished 1st or 2nd for so many races was rossi-like. Rossi falling off and in particular stoner having front-end problems are no concern of his; dani has a better case since his demise was apparently due to a mechanical fault to which he did not at all contribute, but in my view he is talented but not quite as good as jorge and was never going to beat him. Jorge will have to demonstrate that he he can develop a bike on his own in the future, but at this stage he hasn't failed that test as yet either. I do agree that in the particular instance of the motegi race he seemed to want to have things both ways, but don't discount the possibility that there was an element of a show-fight to drum up interest for next year as roger suggests, particularly since dorna need something to deflect scrutiny from the rapidly plummeting grid numbers.
I think tom's later point is salient, in that you can dissect many championships to find excuses for the losers. Even rossi needs a little luck sometimes, or at least the absence of bad luck as this year indicates.
As predictable as the sun rise, the title tainting has begun.
Just quoting what rossi said in parc ferme. Actually this is the third ttime ive mentioned it but no one picked up on it. wondering if anyone bothers to read my posts
Yes Chopperman, I heard Rossi say he was held up fighting with Lorenzo..Rossi said he cost me the race and could have been fighting for the lead but the gap to the leaders opened up trying to overtake Lorenzo. He didn't have the tyre to make up the gap
Hi Pete, what's up buddy? Good to see you back on the forum.
About Lorenzo finishing 3rd, I think he learned his lesson from the previous week and wasn't about to test fate. He played it safe, of this I have no doubt. That doesn't make Rossi's win less impressive, but it does give it some perspective. All smart champions have done this in their title clinching race, Rossi did it, Stoner did it, Hayden did it, and even Spies in WSBK. Its not uncommon actually.
First of all Chops said he was held up "2 seconds". Not sure how that could be calculated on the fly, but ok. Second, a rider claiming he got held up on the first lap jockey for positions is common. Falling in line then passing if you really are faster is not uncommon. Thirdly, because he claimed this cost him the race, it therefore must be true? Ok, what about the claims of other riders? Particularly about this race, are they true too? Or is just one rider allowed to claim the truth?
Welcome to the forum, you'll fit in quiet nicely.
Thanks for the Welcome
Chopperman was only quoting Rossi, all I said was I heard Rossi say the same thing. It’s up to us if we believe him or not. Perhaps Valentino was only playing mind games when he said Lorenzo cost him the race by holding him up for the first 5 laps.
I’m a Rossi fan but I have nothing against Lorenzo, Congratulations to him because he just put in one hell of a season and has really become a very tidy and smooth rider. Consistency is what it’s all about.
Lorenzo snubbing Spies!!!!!! No way was it on purpose.

Not so much calculation as distance to the lead. Anybody can claim the same thing of course. If they do as Rossi, and set the fastest lap the lap after they pass who ever held them up they might even be believed.
