2024 Phillip Island MotoGp Race

I agree that it was over the line. My personal 'line' that is. That Canet stayed upright may have been a matter of luck as much as it was any evidence that the move was OK.

Yea, it's a hard move for sure. It seems to me penalties are handed out based on whether the rider being overtaken stays upright. Aldegeur ran him completely off track.

I thought you posted you have a MotoGP video pass? You know you can watch races/replays from onboard certain bikes and from the helicopter, yes?
I do have a MotoGP video pass. I didn't know about watching races/replaces from onboard certain bikes and from the helicopter. I'll have a poke around their interface.

When you have the video playing, put your cursor in the video box. At the bottom will be a camera icon. When you hit that, you'll get 4 riders to choose onboard cameras. There is also a heli-cam. Good stuff.

Opinions on Aldegeur's move on Canet?
In my opinion it was a ridiculous move that one rider was basically shoving the other one off the track. I was listening to the MotoPG podcast and they had Simon Crafar on. The future principal steward found the move on the limit but legit and "he loved it" because we should promote the show.. I dread to think we are following the F1 gimmicky show road where drivers are basically driving offtrack all the time.
I agree. It wasn;t a pass, it was contact, forcing Canet off track. The rules of racing are you have to give room, Canet gave room to Aldeguer on his inside at the apex as can bee seen above, but the latter seemed to just open his line more and more until Canet was off track.

I feel a dangerous precedent being set. And to think after that, and Bastiannini's move on Martin, that some people had the cheek to criticise Marquez' race winning pass on Martin.

I had a look at different views. The onboard from Aron Canet wasn't very informative. The heli shot showed that at least for a few minutes before the pass in question, they had been riding tough but completely fair I thought. The last pass on Canet by Aldeguer looks very strange to me and I'm not confident I understand it. Aldeguer definitely looked to be repeatedly making contact and pushing Canet off the track. But, that's just what it looks like to me. I'm not claiming that is what happened in reality.

Marc's overtake on Martin to take the lead for good was clean as a whistle, and a perfectly executed block pass that left Jorge enough room. He didn't get shoved off the track the way Canet did by Aldeguer.

I dont know if I have a videopass? It's an app on my appletv box that shows me all the races, practices etc in all classes. FIIK how to find different camera options? Maybe it's not the full shabang or it is not available on the app?
I am an IT numpty btw.

If it's the official MotoGP app I'd assume you'd have the camera options but I'd also assume you'd have to pay for it so you'd know if you had it? I don't use appletv though. I watch on my PC so I'm not familiar with anything else.
