I've read Suzuki has found more power but comparable to Ducati? I'll believe it when I see it. I'll be watching FP1 and FP2 later today.

Top speed is not a total measurement but according to the figures Rins pulled 355.2kmh and Mir 354 which are the highest speeds with Bastianini at 354.

Speed is not the essence but if the Suzuki now has speed and has not impacted it's handling, things could be interesting

Edit to add - https://resources.motogp.com/files/results/2022/QAT/MotoGP/FP2/AverageSpeed.pdf

Shows the average top speed across 5 readings and shows

Mir - 354
Bastianini - 353.5
Rins - 352.6

So that is a better sample but still 2 Suzuki's in the fastest 3

Yea, I didn't expect that. I stand corrected.

Particularly if the tyres last as they did previously. Their problems last year were qualifying and being blown by in the straights. If they have addressed those issues it could indeed be interesting. I don’t quite put Mir in the top echelon of premier class world title winners, yet anyway, and don’t really like him personally, but he self evidently has the consistency to challenge for the title again on a competitive bike.

Top speed is not a product of the engine alone. It depends a lot on the aerodynamics too, specially at those high speeds. Air at 300 km/h is like a wall, let's say. Every angle you increase in each of those wings can actually reduce the speed a lot. Ducati has much more wings than Suzuki. It also depends a LOT on how you exit the turn, given that the straight is just 1 km long and the speed trap is beyond braking point too. Suzuki is known to be a corner speed bike, therefore it catapults itself faster right in the straight line.

I'm quite sure Suzuki has not as many hp as Ducati, but the secret is not on their engine alone.

Anyway, it's a shame for Yamaha what Suzuki is doing, hahaha.

Losail was never a good circuit to measure top speed cause it favors corner speed bikes a lot. Better wait until Mugello to see real figures.

Agree. It would be very surprising if the inline 4 Suzuki engine was making more power than the Ducatis or Hondas, particularly given the desmo valve gear reputedly gives Ducati a mechanical advantage in a fuel economy formula.

I saw it more as Miller knew he had dropped his wheel of the race track and the lap was going to be canned and was far more pissed at himself than at Remy.

I say it as the video seems to show a back movement on rejoin which is a bit of a giveaway plus Jack made no signals at or to Remy when he passed. Yes he made a hand motion prior but when you look at it, to me that looks totally like a self admission of a f*ck up

Someone remind me; when's the last time there were two Aussies in the premiere class? Me, I'm ready to root for Gardner. Fire in the belly - that boy's got it.

Not for a while, but quite frequently in the past.

Doohan and Gardner overlapped, as did Doohan, Beattie and Magee, then McCoy and Doohan, Stoner and Bayliss in 2006 (for 1 race) and after that all 3 of Stoner, Vermeulen and West; you have probably tried to forget a guy who posted as CSCVAW.

I would like to see Remy prosper as well, but am not sure Tech 3 KTM is the place to best show his wares, a doubt his team-mate seems to share. Their stars were shining bright at the end of the last moto 2 season, but mediocre results on satellite KTM bikes, not unlikely imo however talented either may be, won’t make them shine any brighter, particularly with a new shining star in Acosta joining moto 2 who will, again imo, not unlikely have the limelight if/when he wins the moto 2 title this season.

I wonder how Rins will go in the race? When he is in he is on and he appears to be here.
If he stays on he may be hard to beat.
Haven't seen any times on more used tyres yet though and didn't seem him on a medium rear in FP2

Well Fabio didn't make Q2 ,[emoji44]
I think it was only by 2 100ths of a second but still.

So Suzuki fielding a new bike along with Honda...Duke and Yam losing a step...KTM and Aprilla always hungry, should make great racing.

Best of all, no booing custard-crowd this year.

Tight field. Just watched FP4 and Q1. Fabs looking like he’s working really hard, kind of ragged. Just made it into Q2, maybe thanks to a yellow flag.

FP4 was an eye opener. A lot of bikes and riders really close. This race will come down to race set up and race craft. Advantage MM.

What direction can they possibly go in this year? Isn’t it too late at this point to do anything meaningful for this season?

Yamaha just signed with a new sponsor too.

Looks like they played the Honda card, dropping bike development and expecting their new world champion to pick up the slack. Except Fabio ain’t no MM, at least not yet.

I don't think they can do anything till next season now that the engines are sealed minus Aprilia. But the engine is limited from what Yamaha has claimed in the past. I can't see them going to a V4 engine.
