The title sums it up: Is MotoGP's tyre pressure rule making it look stupid?

I'm not sure what can be done if otherwise teams will run tyres at dangerously low pressures. If Michelin's claims are true, of course.

Seems to me racing with a damaged rim is more dangerous than running a few PSI lower in the tyre. It was probably more dangerous when Michelin showed up at......was it PI some years back.......witn tyres that were blowing chunks harder than Mdub on a ferry ride to Nantucket Island in rough seas.

Maybe a better rule would be a minimum starting pressure. Verify 3/4 of the way through the warm up lap. Any rider not meeting the minimum pits in for an adjustment, and starts from pit lane. No checks after race start.

A better solution would be a tire that performs best ABOVE the minimum safe pressure, but apparently that's asking too much.

There once was a dude from Nantucket,

On the ferry he needed a bucket,

Every now and again, his head would spin,

and his dinner he would start to chuck it.

There once was an Aussie named Jack

Who raced ‘round and ‘round a race track

As the end drew near

Going broke his fear

He lucked out again at Pramac.

I have no idea why I am picking on Jack. Just popped into my head.

A minimum starting tyre pressure and let it rip is a good idea

Lower tyre pressure means bigger contact patch
