Wondering if Marc doesn’t win a championship, say… comes in 3rd this year, will he call it quits, or will he hang around forever like Capirossi? The younger competition are no longer so much in awe of him. They’re hungry.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. His plan is to surpass Rossi's 9 titles. After that I think he will either leave or go to Ducati.

He still has the hunger, and I don't see him hanging around like Rossi will past his prime. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him do a Stoner and go out at the top.

I am of the belief we will see the old Marc as he knows no other way. That's not to say he hasn't evolved but in the heat of battle, he will not give any quarter.

Agree. My thinking is, given the stiff competition from younger riders, and a big field of pretty-much-perfect Ducatis, Marc knows it's a now-or-never proposition. Very different than what Rossi was looking at when he took that 9th. Neither the riders (Lorenzo and Stoner being the exceptions) nor the bikes were as at the sharp end the way they are now. I hope for his sake that the new Honda is as good as everybody is speculating.

I also believe we will see the old Marc.
I will enjoy watching him ride.
I will also enjoy watching some young guns beat him if they can.
May the best rider and bike win and the championship not be decided by a Covid test or some bogus rule infringement.

At the very least, I hope MM can find the limit without crashing out.

He may be desperate to catch those Dukes though.

His style is to find the limit and go further past it than anyone else can without crashing.
Nobody else yet has been able to consistently do a Marquez with the front end of a motorcycle.
Can he still do that? Will he need to as often with the new Honda?

Yes all true. He is also quite good at going past the new limit he has established and crashing if somebody is in front of him. Also sometimes when he is all by himself.

There was an article I read, can't recall where otherwise I'd just link it. I think FQ said that MM is sliding the bike through the corners and carrying more speed throughout without losing grip.

While I'm not expecting it, if he pulls off a win in the first race, that's probably going to be a tough guy to beat this season. We find out not to long from now what everyone's got in fp1.

All true, and has mostly worked well for him. What he needs to do imo is desist from pushing past the limit to no purpose; iirc both his most significant shoulder injury and the humeral fracture were a result of trying to prove something to/trying to intimidate FQ in circumstances where it wouldn’t have improved his own outcome. He also has serious competition from riders other than FQ now, Bagnaia in particular.

He aint the young fast kid anymore but he does have the runs on the board and he isn't old and past it yet either.
There is more competition but there isn't another who has shown the stuff he has yet.
Mind you I'm not sure he can show quite that same stuff anymore, but I do still believe in his ability and his competitive drive.
It is going to be interesting to see how it pans out.

Woke up in time to watch the 2nd half of FP1. As usual, great to watch even tho, as we all know, there's very little in the way of significant clues to future outcomes. Interested to see what the addition of Suppo brings to the Suzuki team. Announcers claimed that 22 Suzukis are making power and top speed comparable to Ducati. If so... (type speculations here).

I've read Suzuki has found more power but comparable to Ducati? I'll believe it when I see it. I'll be watching FP1 and FP2 later today.

The new motogp site regarding the session results is a crap. Before this update we could see what tyre the rider was using and the number of laps on each, now they omitted this information.

Of the top 7, only Rins was on Soft/Soft.

Only saw 2nd half of FP2. Miller seems to be struggling with the launch control.

Wow. MM looking great, as do the Suzukis. Yamaha not so much. Ducati?

It’s early, but promising with a pretty tight field.

Will be a good race!

I'm pumped! Especially impressive that Suzuki are strong here with such a long straight.

And Remi Gardner getting in his way...

I saw it more as Miller knew he had dropped his wheel of the race track and the lap was going to be canned and was far more pissed at himself than at Remy.

I say it as the video seems to show a back movement on rejoin which is a bit of a giveaway plus Jack made no signals at or to Remy when he passed. Yes he made a hand motion prior but when you look at it, to me that looks totally like a self admission of a f*ck up
