When you read the article it certainly sounds as though he is desperate to solve the issue and is likely headed in the right direction as he has tried a lot of things (ie. the comment about supplements etc).

He also is clear, the bike is perfect but it is him and him alone that is the issue which it has to be said and should be recognised is a frank admission

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Gaz @ Jun 28 2009, 10:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Absolutely and I meant to include those fanboys in teh comment.

But I should also clarify that IMO he places the most pressure on himself as most highly strung athletes are prone to do, but I do hope that the illness is a short term issue an d he can return to full health. What I do find sad however is that people in all forums will just again take the standard negative approach as has been the way for some (not attacking one individual or forum over another) when he was again genuinely ill.

Garry

I totally agree he dose put himself under alot of pressure as do they all. Anyone with the slighest bit of intelegence would know he was very sick after both races. He just stood on the one spot on the podium and looked like he could barley lift the bottle of champers while the other two were jumping around. He was 100% right to go the clinic straight after.

Were always going to get guys giving the low blow but on this forum at least it is more often than not said in fun or to piss each other off more than to disrespect the actual rider, because last race X forum member said something bad about X rider that had a bad race. Its very childish but so is riding bikes above the speed limit
<

Rossi and Pedrosa also take a lot of unnecessary flack when races dont go their way but we all can find the funny side with Pedders. Why are the other two sacred ground? Its sad really that people take it so personally

Well I know it was'nt a press interview but it was a very different attitude to last week when after the race he said ya I was rotten sick but still had all these problems yada yada yada. Today\yesterday he dose say he had a fantastic bike(dont hear that too often) and he was the problem. Which I say kudos Casey, it takes a great man to admit something like that especially in this sport

Actually it is little different to what he said last week as (from memory) he was asked 'tell us about your race' and replied 'to tell the truth, I am a bit disappointed'. He then went on to say that they had gotten teh setup right in warmup and he had a great bike, but that after a few laps he felt crook etc etc, much like this interview.

But, this time the release appears to include more reference to the doctors (last week we saw the doctors in attendance) and possibly this week being the second consecutive week of problems adds some weight as well.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mylexicon @ Jun 27 2009, 07:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Assen is not really a Ducati track. Stoner won easily last year b/c Rossi chucked it into DePuniet, Pedrosa was still on extra thirsty pneumatic Honda, and Nicky was on an early pneumatic bike with a bad fuel computer.

Wait until they get to tracks that suit the Ducati like Donnington, Brno, San Marino, PI, and Valencia. I would mention Laguna but most riders are happy to leave in one piece after their first visit.
I had a similar thought; valentino actually won the assen race in 2007. If accused of clutching at straws I am not sure I could mount a very strong defence though

.

I was at a live sporting event and only saw the last few laps; obviously a dominant win by valentino and particular congratulations are in order for his 100th victory.

I was not aware of any issues with casey until reading the forum today; whether his ailment is purely physical or not it is a worry either way. Ducati might need to up their act on the technical side also.

You right Gaz there is little difference. I watched his interview again but I guess this release on motogp.com is only Suppo relating what Casey said so it might all be ........ but probably not. The only times that I can recall Casey ever saying the bike was fantastic was when he had blown the field away by +10 secs. Even last week he did not say he had a great bike he said it was bad on Friday they changed some things Saturday for the race and made big improvments and that the bike was there. He did like this week say that if it was not for his condition he would have been running at the front. I'm looking forward to hear what he has to say with an official statement.

Cannot read any illness up until Qualification, a bit of complaining for other riders on track, but same for every other rider.

…"Stoner was in impressive form on race tyres, lapping in the low 1'37 mark that looks like being a pace capable of challenging for victory in tomorrow's race, although when he switched to softer tyres for an assault on the grid positions he was held up by a host of slower riders on track"…

"Pretty much all weekend we've been very fast on race tyres and even though we're normally good for a single qualifying lap on a soft tyre we've had a few issues here. With my second soft tyre I was up out of the seat a couple of times but we changed it and the next one was a lot better", he said. "Unfortunately a couple of riders got in my way, waiting for a two in a dangerous and fast part of the track, which obviously cost me time but could have cost me a whole lot more if I had crashed. It is a frustrating situation which seems to be happening more and more in MotoGP and it is about time something was done to stop it. Thankfully I'm starting from fourth on the grid, which I am fine with because I can still challenge at the front from there and with the times we set today there is no reason not to be confident."

What about the hand situation from 07? Completely fixed?

I dont know man, its a very strange one to say the least.

Christ on a bike this place is quite for a race wkend is everyone at Donny or what

BarryMachine your being very quite, i'm surprised your not vigorously defending your champ with the same stupid excuses that <span style="color:#FF00FFthe pink one has being throwing about, bless him. Are you feeling sick also BarryMachine? Oh thats right when Casey dose'nt win you dont log on. Its the only good thing about Casey having a bad race, wish <span style="color:#FF00FFthe pink one would take heed and follow suit

The bad part is that his health is not top notch. Laguna is a week away and it looks like the epic battle we have all waited a year for is already off.

Have you forgotten about Lorenzo? Not to worry for Ducati Hayden will ride well and do his country proud. The winds of change

Ya but didn't we all want to see Stoner/Rossi 2? I did. They were so far in front of everyone Stoner wiped out and still finished second. So this year Rossi just rides to victory alone...not quite the same.

Sure I did but whats to say we cant get that at most other tracks (apart from the corkscrew). There is no guarntee that Rossi will ride to victory alone. I reckon Lorenzo will be the hero at Laguna

I reckon your right there, Lorenzo's itching to beat ROSSI, Laguna is gonna be a good race for sure.

Lorenzo's itch didn't give him any edge at Assen. Has anyone seen any interviews
wherein he might have said something about why he was so far behind Rossi?

What about Edwards? More chance he will do his country proud.

Me too. Lorenzo's desire to best Rossi didn't keep Rossi from leaving Lorenzo
way back. Lorenzo was how far back by the end of the race? Hey he's
a great racer but Rossi totally spanked him at Assen.

Undoubtedly, but he's not the sort of rider to whine about it after!
