assen, round 7..... the race!

@Pirkkalan GP: More like "...." really. The literal translation isn't used in the same context in the English language.

But yeah, I'm disappointed. Hope Kallio can turn great performances like that to great results later on.

Well we just watched history being made. The pic and vids of that banner will be around long after we're all dead explaining who was Rossi to the kids of the future.

I don't like Rossi, probably never will, but the guy is just the best in history so kudos to him for reaching this milestone in his career. Now only Agostini's record is the only thing between him and statistical GOATness.

Jorge stop messing up the starts!!!

Stoner, I hope you can fix your health problems soon, a 3 way championship battle would be nice.

Nice scrap in the midpack, bunch of guys trying to secure a contract next year usually makes for some fun agressive racing! Other than that the race itself was quite boring, too many spread out bikes.

I think stoner maybe suffering from anxiety... for some people it can get crazy, i had it once for 3 months constant for no reason at all just poped up out of the blue and raceday maybe its trigger for stoner recently.

doc thought at first i had a heart problem then when those test were ok i had bloods done as they thought i may have glandular fever... but that was negative so they knew then it was anxiety... i had shakes, elevated heart rate , fatigue just feeling very very tired for no reason , and the stomach cramps are unbearable like your stomach been tied in a knot also felt like i had flu... i lost 1 and half stone in the last few weeks when i had it as i only was able to eat 2 or 3 meals a week. it was only after medication it stoped.

im not making excuses for the stoner but you have to be reasonable here its a possibilty and maybe why he thinks he has flu?

but at the end of day im just making a sugestion, he maybe looking for excuses for lack of performance... im just offering another opinion

As for people calling Stoner a "....." and all that crap, go .... yourselves, you are .... humans. You really think he would bail unless he really needed to? ..........
Yeah plus one for the congrats out to Vale.

THe problem is that noone gives credit to a decent rider unless he is Rossi. They would all take it right up the ... from him if he was givin it out. Plus Stoner wouldn't be alowed to bail unless there was some sort of a problem. If any of these morons understood contracts and TV contracts at that they have to have them go through a bunch of different things after a race and interviews being one of them.

He was leaning in for the ...., but got a mouth full of bush. That .... is at face level for him. And that also solves the stomach problem.

I really didn't need to see an ocean of custard, 5,000 fluttering No.46's, and a clutch of Fiat Yamaha shirts, just as Toseland, Elias, Kallio, De Puniet and Hayden were all hurtling towards the final chicane

The racing today being as dull as it was, at least warranted coverage of the mid pack finish. Congratulations to JT for prevailing in this, to Elias for fighting into contention, then ruining all his efforts with the inevitable Kamikazi climax, and heartfelt commiserations to Kallio - I hope that hand injury isn't as acute as it looked. Albeit, the positions they were fighting for were all gifted by.......

Dovi and Pedrosa!!!!? - there has to have been something amiss or some compromise in that works front end for it to be unsettled at exactly the same point of the circuit.

Colin reminds us why this is one of his favorite circuits...and to a certain extent so does Nicky.

Valentino - too convincing. Reminds me of Mick when he intoned, 'what do you want me to do, slow down?' - and we all thought, yeah we do. Like Julian said, to many Rossi fans, it only matters that he won, and won't bemoan the absence of close racing - That was an emphatic a Rossi victory as they come...and to think of all this ........ talk about the likes of Lorenzo and Stoner getting in his head. When Vale feels threatened, he's not averse to the odd mind game as we know, but ultimately this is how he and his garage respond, by controlling the entire weekend. re-introduce the 350 class, or stick the man on a Moto 2 machine, because you now have to seriously believe that he is contemplating the feasibility of overtaking Ago's all time record - and realistically that would take at least three more seasons, not to mention some incredible good fortune given the level of his competitors. Didn't seem to bother him today though! Congratulations to a brilliant sportsman and a legend alike.

I want that banner.

I didn't wish to swear on the forum. And yes some do use it in that context in English but is normally if a person is involved so in this situation it would be having a go at Kallio himself. Though not the word "....." but the proper literal translation.

Think he'll struggle to get up to 6th again this season. Was gifted a number of places by repsol. Being top rookie will be a good performance next week as it's a new track.

As for ........ I wasn't calling Stoner a ...... So does he have a drug problem or some eating disorder? lol

Yeah Suppo commented post race on how "Kallio's been doing a great job". So a few more like that, and Hayden behind, then Casey has a new teammate.

Kallio will not struggle to find his way to the pointy end again, although, he will find himself in more accomplished company in the future.

Assen is not really a Ducati track. Stoner won easily last year b/c Rossi chucked it into DePuniet, Pedrosa was still on extra thirsty pneumatic Honda, and Nicky was on an early pneumatic bike with a bad fuel computer.

Wait until they get to tracks that suit the Ducati like Donnington, Brno, San Marino, PI, and Valencia. I would mention Laguna but most riders are happy to leave in one piece after their first visit.

Since Assen was supposed to be Hayden's first podium of 2008, I have watched the race many times in an attempt to see the differences between the pneumatic valve bike and the standard spring valve version.

If you watch the race very closely, you will see that both Honda riders were losing the front in turn 1 and I can only imagine that the front Michelin was keeping them upright. In one particular instance, Dani lost the front end and you can clearly see him steering the front wheel rather violently in an attempt to find traction.

The Honda does NOT like turn 1.

But keep in mind lexicon that yamaha has closed the gap alot. There is hardly any advantage left in straight line speed between ducati and yamaha.
Last season biggest difference between ducati and yamaha was power dilvery out of slow corners but so far what i have seen this season, yamaha has improved in that department alot and their power dilvery out of slow corners as good as ducati if not better.

Congrats to vale on his 100th win, race was quite boring apart from battle for 6th place but it looks likes vale wasn't in any mood to take chances today because normally he don't mind having a close race.

As I was saying in my earlier post - tho not so concisely. Seemed like a rather large
coincidence.

Melandri has 54 points. Adding 2+10+11+20+5+2+4=54. So there’s a Mistake in the first page. Hire me to do your numbers man!

The world standing PDF just isn't up to date. Elias was penalized 20 sec, so those who finished just behind them will all get an extra point when it is updated. The first page is correct.

Unfortunately it seems to me as if Stoner is suffering from race day anxiety. It was my first thought as soon as I read about his recurring problems, and someone else already mentioned it in this thread. The thing that suggests anxiety is the fact that he was fine the week before the race, then started to feel the symptoms on qualifying day, just to get worse on race day.

No one can say for sure yet, but it does look that way. In my mind that is NOT a good thing. Such a condition can be hard to get through during this busy time in the middle of the season.

Either way, under the circumstances, he rode a very good race.

i agree as i said i had it for 3 months... somedays i would wake up feeling good but other's it was just lingering in the background and the slightest thing would trigger it even caffiene.
it also plays with your mind, for the months i had it i really conviced myself i had an illness, even after tests and i knew what it was it wouldnt go away without the help of medication.
thing is like you say come friday could be the start, its like it builds up inside you and it gets delayed then shows it's ugly head but u can feel it even if you have it slighty.
problem is for stoner if it is that and he needs to take the meds for it he wont be riding a motorbike as it makes you feel drowsy.

it could be anxiety or glandular fever ive had both and they sort of similar, i now keep it at bay as i keep telling myself i am not ill im fine as its like a vicous circle... it made me feel so ...... sometimes i couldnt even watch the motogp races as the excitement would make my heart rate go up and it would be in full swing again.
