Aragon *RACE* Thread

Take out Jerez. It's a dump and the least accessible of all for the rest of Europe. Aragon is nice because it is easy driving distance for people from Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Bilbao/northern Spain, and it is about 3 hours south of the french border instead of the 14+ hours that Jerez is. Attendance figures might make it a hard track to drop, but it is by far the most rundown, and really the only place where the party gets out of control. The locals down there have too many days out in the hot sun and burn up their brains.

brno does well location etc

138,000 people at Brno 2009

Sunday: 146,000 at brno 2008

October 29, 2006 Valencia Circuit MotoGP Final .

Raceday Sunday: 129466,

Weekend total: 233399 (Who says the spanish don't like their motorbike racing? )

Thing is, when i was sat on the hill during the race you could see the road outside. It was gridlocked with thousands of people trying to get to the race. The event was so over sold it was unbelievable.

Thanx for report Bat. Nice to see ur King out talking to riders and presenting trophys.

For thos tempted to make Hay or something out of "fastest/slowest" bike top speed stats (especially Yama's supposed handicap) here is an interesting fact: The race winner, Casey was 12th fastest bike. Vale was 11th fastest 2nd fastest Yamaha, Spies was the slowest of all Yamahas, 15th of all bikes. Colin was the fastest Yamaha but had the worst result. Nicky's Ducati was the slowest of all 5 Ducatis, 13th overrall.

Juan Carlos is a pretty cool king as far as kings go. He is a motorcycle rider, and there are urban legends of him sneaking out on one of the royal bikes when he was younger and surprising people out in the hills north of Madrid. I'm sure he is the only monarch that follows motorcycle racing, he is not handing out trophies as a figure hear but as a true fan. A few years back when Dany and Jorge were in 250 I think, and there relationship was at it's most tense, ol' Juan Ca "forced" them to shake hands on the podium!

Great job nicky & spies! I agree with Keshav the yama is faaawcked. Rossi hex I would think.

Anyone know the last time two ducatis were on the podium together?

Capirossi/Checa 2005 Malaysia 1st/3rd

Bayliss/Capirossi 2006 Valencia 1st/2nd

Stoner/Capirossi 2007 Turkey 1st/3rd

Stoner/Cpairossi 2007 PI 1st/2nd

Stoner/Hayden 2010 Aragon 1st/3rd

here are the 5 times Ducati has had 2 on the box in MotoGP

Prince William and prince Harry are very keen bikers and i think they have attended the british rounds. I think william handed out trophy's? but yeah, king carlos making lorenzo and pedrosa shake hands was unforgettable.

The race was academic for the first 18 laps, but the last handful were really great entertainment. Spies vs. Dovi and Lorenzo vs. Hayden were both worth the price of admission. Very happy for Ducati. They've looked stupid all season for switching to the big bang configuration which has upset the chassis balance and the grip level from the tires. If Stoner has indeed found something, it will make next season a lot more interesting. Before today, it looked like you'd have an old injured GOAT riding a crap bike, but now it sounds like Rossi might get fixed up early, and the GP10 is capable of winning races in its current form.

Roll on 2011. Both GP and WSBK are getting a complete shakeup. Things will look very different next year which is good b/c this year has been pretty weak, imo.

I'm really glad for Ducati, for Hayden and for Stoner.

And we are going to tracks Ducati likes a lot.

Did I see some sign of Lorenzo feeling the pressure? Sure. And with reason...
<

Well done Nicky.

yeah, i'm pretty sick right now ,i was watching the race and was falling sleep then nicky had his first go at lorenzo ,that totally woke me up then at the last lap gavin said .3 from jorge and by the way lorenzo is riding i thought that wasnt close enough , then bammm ..... is dejavu , oh boy you just got schooled . for that moment the flu was gone, what an adrenaline shot
<
the flu is back now tho
<

cant wait for 1000cc desmo and rossi/hayden combo, is gonna be great

WOW I just had a thought ....... if the DUC's are running well, then PI this year will be a blinder! Both Stoner and Hayden love that track, I'd even venture to say Hayden has a chance for a win there.

And if Hayden scores a win, watch out next year Rossi

damn, all this talk of the Duc coming on form is jinxing the remainder of the season...please Lord don't let this weekends result be a fluke!!!!!!

I've got to go out and sacrifice a chicken or something....come on!

I just got back from Churches Chicken ( do they hav these in the east?) Had a three piece with mash potato & corn on the cobb. Hope this counts.

2 birds in one stone. You sacrificed a chicken and went to church at the same time.

I asked my spanish amigo 2 years ago what would happen if Lorenzo started beating Pedrosa. Who would they favor. He replied that Spain would favor .the one who was winning.

Aragon will most defenitely be put back on the schedule. With Rossi going to Ducati and Aragon being a Duc track, rest assured that it will no longer be a temporary venue

Assuming the bike's new set-up suits Rossi's riding style. Assuming Bridgestone doesn't make any stupid changes to

next year's tires.
