2024 Round 14: Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna - Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Acosta once again leading the KTM charge. Binder disappoints yet again. He really needs to get to Q2 tomorrow. How good would it be to have Quatararo on the 2nd row? Still a tough task but I'm pulling for him. Any word on Digi? His crash was weird, went really early.

Marc also downplays his pace all the time, even when he was riding the non-widowmaker Honda.
He also didn’t really get a chance for another fast lap because of yellow flags.

I tend to think he is correct though, Bagnaia on a GP24 with race data from last weekend and testing data subsequently should be too fast for him in normal conditions unless he really is supernatural.

While the Japanese cup is focused on Qartararo's fab 5th in practice, Zarco's 12th should be noted, a 1/2 second faster than the next Honda. There's the potential to get thru to Q2 but to do that he has beat 2 Ducati's and both Factory KTM's

Simon Crafar highlighted that Bastianini and Martin are running updated aero for Ducati in FP2. Miller is also running a version of the front aero P. Espargaro and Pedrosa have previously raced.

Interesting that the outgoing riders are getting the new parts…

Just spotted Marini running the new Honda aero as well; not that it will trouble the timekeepers or anything.

I’ve covered the technical evolution of the M1 in various threads here, but I’m convinced their V4 decal is adding at least 30-40 HP to the top end because holy cow, Quartararo is smashing it!

Good morning, here we are with qualifying upcoming, fingers crossed it is a cracking session.

I figure Pecco will be on pole...I think he has unbelievable speed this weekend, so I can't see him not being on pole unless he makes a mistake.

Mishitelin being allowed to hold off till 2026 on that new front tire is absurd in my opinion. I know there were complaints about the feel of it, but they have had 8 years to produce a front tire capable of handling the loads of the modern GP bikes. So instead they get to get away with this for a decade now. Shocking, positively shocking.

Aprilia said they sent R. Fernandez out on the 2024 bike with the 23 aero.

They lost something compared to last year and are trying to figure out what it is.
I don’t understand these comments about R Fernandez being on a 24 bike, he was allocated 23 engines at the beginning of the year as Aprilia wasn't able to build 4 sets of 24 engines in time, so at best he has a 24 bike with a 23 engine and this 23 aero gives him a 24 frame with a 23 engine and 23 aero.

The 23 and 24 engine as per Paolo Bonora, are quite similar, and for all purposes can be considered the same.
Raul was upgraded to the rest of the 24 package mid year. Strictly speaking I suppose you can say he got a hybrid package.

Binder salvages Q1, good showing by Oliveira as well.

The Hondas seem to be improving with the updates (Nakagami has the old package and was slower than the other 3).

Complete howler by Miller. Not sure what went down there.

It’s all a little bit sh!t, isn’t it?

If the FIM had any balls, they’d ban the Ride Shyte Devices (TM) immediately on safety grounds. But we know they won’t.

The whole thing blows my mind honestly.

I said was saying on here very early in the 2016 season that the Michelin front was absolute garbage. I do not believe riders with the experience of those who were on the grid at that time suddenly forgot how to ride a GP bike. But instead all we got were excuses. I'm not saying Bridgestone was always perfect, but for ..... sake, I didn't have this constant fear of riders going down from the front folding out of nowhere.

The FIM totally blew it with the Ride Shyte Devices. I still cannot understand what logic was involved to not see them as a safety issue.

It's only the first flying lap, but that's a big gap between Bagnaia and Martin, and Marquez. EDIT: Acosta! And Marc Marquez! Exclamation marks for different reasons.
