Another Sepang race was of course 2011. I've never seen that race (and don't want to see it). I was surprised to see that the race is up on motogp.com. Do they really have ... as much of that race as happened up there? I don't want to look and see myself, but if anyone knows, I'd be curious to know.

Bagnaia was asked about the Rossi/Marquez feud in the press conference:

"Honestly, I'm out of this. I was not riding in MotoGP during those years and I want to remain outside of it because it's something that I don't care."

Props to him for not taking the bait.

I've seen videos suggesting Rossi will use Pecco to continue his vendetta and play mind games with Marc. I sincerely believe, as Pecco stated in your post, he (Pecco) isn't going to oblige Rossi in this. I don't believe it's Pecco's nature and will only distract him from winning races. Pecco has already achieved much but he has the opportunity to be amongst the greatest. He's not going to let Rossi ruin his chance.

And finally we have some results. It's only FP1 but at least we have a list of riders with times attached to their names. MM93 is looking strong, but he's frequently ahead at the beginning of practice, and falls back a bit in qualifying. We'll see what happens here. Often the factory Ducatis are further back in FP1. Though, Bastianini is well back in FP1. There seems a good range of bikes in the remainder of the top 10 once the top 4 positions Ducati lockout are passed. It will be interesting to see if Quartararo can maintain his top 10 position and go straight to Q2. Acosta currently top KTM. Again, let's see what the others can do and who can get straight into Q2.

Regarding the above tweet from Kropo,

Marc is correct. I think this belief that the primary riders are supposed to fix the bikes is wishful thinking at best frankly.

For me, this shows what kind of environment Gigi has effectively created in Borgo Panigale.

The teams who had the worst problem with the engineers listening to feedback are the Japanese manufacturers. Where are they currently?

Did anyone catch the interesting news from FP1 that Michelin are delaying the introduction of the new front tyre by a year, so for 2026 now instead of 2025.

Piero Taramasso explained that the new tyre is 20% lighter, so it can deform more and hence has a better contact patch. However, many riders have given feedback that it can lock unexpectedly during braking and felt strange for the first few laps.

They obviously have some concerns, hence the delay. Seems interesting they are doing so much work to develop a tyre that may be obsolete a year after it is introduced (2027 reg changes)

So my thoughts about practice today with the premier class is that the pecking order is pretty much what I thought it was going to be.

Only thing I didn't expect was Fabio laying down the rubber to go to P5 in FP2. He might actually have the race pace this time around after looking at the timesheets. But we will see what happens in that regard.

I will say Marc had some pretty solid numbers as well which would potentially keep him in the running with Pecco and Jorge. So maybe we will finally get that 3-way dance on Sunday. I'm praying for this. Of course the final corners are where Marc's speed is devastating, so things might be quite interesting if nothing else with regards to the actual race. I see the sprint just being a fight between Pecco and Jorge assuming they are both on the front row of the grid after qualifying tomorrow.

Marc has said he hasn't got their pace, so unless they are squabbling which allows him to keep with them, I don't see a repeat win.

Assuming it stays dry, it's a Bagnaia/Martin faceoff, with Marc 3rd unless the Beast finds some late race pace.

Marc also downplays his pace all the time, even when he was riding the non-widowmaker Honda.
